Lycans display a number of greatly enhanced physical attributes. As with their rivals the Vampires, Lycans are immortal, able to live for hundreds of years. They possess enhanced (superior even to those of wolves, not just humans) senses of smell, hearing and sight and are also able to sense Vampires in close proximity to themselves and possess physical strength, durability, reflexes, and speed equal or even superior to those of Vampires.
There are three generations of Lycans:
The First Lycan - Was never seen, some say he met his Final Death centuries ago.
First Generation - Created after being bitten by the First Lycan, these creatures are complete savages with no control over themselves and the inability to revert to a human form. Physically, they are more humanized facially, with a shorter snout (although still longer than the second-generation Lycans) and a lack of pointed ears. They were also never able to take human form again. It was only until the third generation of Lycans were born that they were able to channel the anger and hatred in order to transform at will. They haven't been spotted in decades. Only one could kill a vampire easily.
Second Generation - More human than their ancestors, but not human enough to live within the perimeter of a city, they hide in the forests and deserted areas. They can transform back to their human form as long as there is no full moon and they still can't transform at will. You character is not one of these creatures but probably met one, and ended up with him being a Third Generation Lycan. If they were to fight vampires there'd be a 70% chance for the Lycan.
Third Generation - The modern Lycans. Your world. You can transform into your Lycan form anytime you want, and transforming back to human is even easier. Unfortunately you're not as powerful as your ancestors, there's a 50-50 percent chance of winning against a vampire.
