people say posers are people who like rap then like rock so what is your opion on the subject

Music is music. I think rap sucks... but it's music none the less. It's a preference and a personal choice. If you like metal, you like metal, if you like rap, you like rap. Nobody should label you a poser because you don't listen to their music or that you listen to a very wide variety of music. My mom is a great example. She still listens to good stuff like Motley Crue but also listens, (although I absolutely hate it,) to rap and hip hop. Because she likes it.

Posers are the people that listen to a certain type of music just for the social status.

i think... posers are people who claim they listen to certain music, but really don't. or will wear band shirts of bands they've never heard... or listen to music they don't like because it's whats "cool"

A poser is a person who pretends to adore a certain fad, be it music, a TV show, or a style of dress, just because its what is popular and they think it will make them look cool.

Posers; people who pretend to like a certain type of music so they 'look good' amoung friendship groups. Guys sometimes do it to impress girls, and vice versa. It's disturbing I know. I know this one guy who pretended to like Tallica just because of me.. Went out and bought the shirts and everything. You don't have to have the t-shirts to be a true fan =D

I think poseurs are those people who tend to be so obsessed with "purity" of whatever it is, that they lose track of the bigger picture. Like, don't get me wrong, I love rock and metal, but people who call me a poseur because I play clarinet in Wind Ensemble, don't act depressed or angry at the world, and am generally a happy go-lucky girl...those people are the true poseurs in my opinion. They want so much to fit into a stereotype, that everyone else who enjoys their passion but does not fit that stereotype, is a poseur.
