Just got back. Holy God what an awesome show. I'd do a more detailed match-by-match synopsis, but I'm already about to fall asleep as I'm typing this. So here's what happened:
After a few quickie 5 minute dark matches, the new tag team of YRR (Young, Rich and Ready for action) won a match, only to be interrupted by (drumroll) Brian Danielson! He was all like, "if you're ready for action, let's go right now!" He had two separate matches -- one against both of them, squashing them both. He looked kind of funny with his pirate eye patch.
Next was the 4 corners survival match between Roderick Strong, Delirious, Erick Stevens and Kevin Steen for a title shot later in the night. The crowd was totally behind Steen... he is a great heel. Me and my friends were rooting for Delirious because he's just so friggin' goofy. To our surprise, Erick Stevens pulled it out. The crowd was giving them a hard time, so he grabbed the mic and told the crowd that he promised he wouldn't let them down against Morishima.
Next was the match between Jimmy Jacobs and Chris Hero. Jacobs totally had the crowd, but my group of friends was totally behind Hero... and especially Larry Sweeney. A bunch of guys were chanting "Queer-o" and Hero paused after a move and said, "That doesn't even make any sense!" Lawlies! Oh, and both Lacey AND Sara Del Rey (who was in Hero's corner) look much hotter in person. Jacobs made Hero tap.
Next was El Generico vs. Marufuji. MATCH OF THE EFFING NIGHT!!! The crowd was 150% into this match from beginning to end. We were totally yelling our asses off. Tons more spots and near-falls than my little brain can comprehend. Also the only juice in the show, when El Generico sliced up his back a bit. Marufuji FTW.
After the intermission (where Daizee Haze made a visit to the merch stand), there was the tag match of McGuiness and Castagnoli vs. Whitmer and Albright. Being a hair farmer, I was a little bummed to see that both Castagnoli AND Whitmer had both cut their hair (BJ looks like Jeff Jarrett now), but the match was solid nonetheless. Very old-school. We were all behind the Europeans. Unfortunately, Whitmer and Albright took it.
Next up was the Jack Evans/Rocky Romero match. Shortly after the bell rang, Evans grabbed a mic and suggested the match be a street fight. Lots of actions outside the ring, and even a bit of table action. Of course, Evans always gives the fans their money's worth. We were hoping Ruckus would have shown up, but alas, he didn't. At least Evans pulled out the victory.
For some inexplicable reason, they decided to have the Morishima vs. Stevens match second to last. This one started slow, but once it got going, oh my God! This was the stiffest effing match I've ever seen in my life!! Of course, my understanding of puroresu and strong style tells me that this was Morishima's way of showing respect. And Stevens friggin' earned it. He got OVER like a mother. My feeling is that Danielson is probably going to win the ROH title from Morishima tomorrow in Chicago. Too bad I have to work... it's only about a 4 hour drive...
The main event was the Briscoes vs. Austin Aries and Matt Cross. It kind of sucks that the crowd at this point was more or less exhausted and therefore didn't go apeshit, because these guys definitely did man up. I was starving at this point, so my attention wasn't 100% there either. My group did totally mark for Aries, but the crowd was completely for the Briscoes, especially since this was where Mark (I think it was him) totally screwed himself up and was out for quite a while. Of course, the Briscoes retained.
All in all, good fight(s)... good night. Bedtime.

Here's an interesting tidbit from another guy who was there about Project 161: Quote: At the (Detroit) show apparently Whitmer & Albright came out in ski mask like masks. However, Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin were seen hanging around the building and backstage through out the night. With one of my friends being near the men's bathroom when Shelley went in, and when he came out my friend went in to find "161" now drawn on the mirror. Make of it what you will.
