im so confused. wats a morman? my mom tried to explain it and so did pat my moms bf but im still confused bc i have morman friends and i was just curious

well i asked one of my friends.. she said they have two books... the Bible and the Book of Morman... and she said sumthin like they believe there is a recent proft and he tells them what they need to know.. ? i couldnt really hear her when she was tellign me but that is what i heard and someone else sad they believe in multiple wifes

Yes, they have both the Bible and the Book of Mormon; when conflict between the two arises, the Book of Mormon takes precedence. The Book of Mormon was written by their first prophet, in the mid-fifties, I believe; Mormons believe that prophets still live among us, and they elect a prophet to lead them when the old one dies; he is viewed as God on Earth.

The claim of polygyny (multiple wives) is misguided; originally, the LDS church did believe in and practise this, as per the guidance of their first prophet, but they have since renounced that belief. Any Mormon churches that practise this are offshoots of the main faith, and are not recognized by the main LDS church.

It's not a god they elect as much as the one they think is best for the position of "voice of God". The person who is best qualified to be God's conduit on earth.

I believe you mean "polygamy".
