The Silent Observer

Dreams passed me by, dancing
Like a snowflake in the wind.
I stood patiently in the background
Waiting for you to notice me watching,
But you never did;
You're eyes were always ahead,
And never did you look back and regret
What decisions you've made-
Even the one that you had no clue of.

Days, that became too many to count,
Formed to create years of loneliness,
Filled with hours where breathing seemed to harsh
And seconds where dying was a unfulfilled wish.
It was then that words were whispered to you,
And you glanced back for a moment,
Gazing at she who watched endlessly,
And you waited for me to take your side.

Yet I knew that glance in your eye,
Having seen you offer the same to others
Who had fallen for you before I,
And I knew that I couldn't take such pity
From the one whom I admired so.

So I stood back again like always,
Tears falling from those eyes
That you never paid attention to,
And I held back as my heart pleaded to die.
Once more, I watched you walk away from me,
Turning my head today so you won't see
The pain you know will forever be there.
