this is a forum to discuss the advantages & disadvantages of ALL the available fishing rods.the purpose of course is to help people trying to decide which rod to spend their hard earned gold on.

smile my personal all-around favorite has to be the strength plus.it doesn't quite have the distance of some of the other rods, but it gives you a lotttt of space at the bottom which is where a lot of fishers including me tend to lose a lot of fish.i use this rod exclusively in durem and sometimes in gambino if i'm missing a lot. my other fave would have to be the distance plus.i use it exclusively in bass'ken and sometimes in gambino unless i'm missing a lot, then i'll switch to strength plus.usually the biggest and "best" fish are found in the middle of a lake and distance plus WILL get you there.

ok this brings us to the performance plus which is also a very nice rod.at first glance you would think its the best overall since it seems to split the difference between strength & distance, but many fishers complain about the middle section where it narrows before widening out some at the bottom also i've heard a lot of complaints about how it flexes but it flexes less than the distance rolleyes .it casts a good distance & allows you some room at the bottom so it is a very good rod.some love it & some hate it.i've had some very good luck using it,but since i have the other 2 rods i just didn't really need it.if you just want 1 rod to use all the time this 1 may be for you but as with any rod,it just depends on WHAT WORKS BEST FOR YOU smile

I like the distance, so I can have some room to filter before going on to the bottom part.

My preference is the Performance Rod +.
The Distance Rod + will give you a solid 100 foot cast, which gives you the maximum amount of time for a large fish to hook before the line drops out of the 65 foot zone.
The Performance Rod + has quite wide lines at the top and bottom, and slightly larger than Basic lines in the very middle. It casts out to 90 feet, which is still a good bit of time for a large fish to hook before the line drops past 65 feet.
The Strength Rod + has very wide lines that spread wide (like a very unPG analogy that I am so tempted to write about) and make it far easier to pull the fish in - it casts just a bit past the 65 foot mark, though I'm not sure exactly how far; nonetheless, it is still possible to catch large fish with this rod as well.
The question for each fisher is, how much are those extra feet worth to you?
If you are going after big fish and you have excellent rod control (teehee) then a Distance + obviously offers the most time in what I'd probably call the 'Red Zone', where the large fish can be hooked.
The Performance + offers 10 feet less inside that 'Red Zone', but with a lot of room at the top to identify fish swim pattern and a lot of room at the bottom for when it speeds up so dramatically.
The Strength + isn't really for the fisherman after large fish - but it is GREAT for speedfishing, just grabbing everything that bites your line and pulling it in fast. It makes it almost difficult to miss the fish, and you still have a chance at larges. There's little time for filtering, however, so even skilled filterers must watch carefully and yank their rod quickly! *cannot restraint unPG puns and jokes... burning_eyes *
So there you have it, a step-by-step approach as to which rod you should choose. I don't even type about the non-upgraded rods because I believe you should fish with your basic until you can afford an upgraded, so that you will be a more skilled fisher by that time. <---- Personal belief exclaim

My personal favourite would have to be the Distance +. It's got a good throw length, and the lines for catching are quite big. I would prefer this for anyone looking to catch large fish in either Bassken or Gambino.

Strength+ all the way here, no matter the lake. Cuz the lines are wider and that's all I need And it's red! twisted Performance sometimes, but i dun't like the Distance. :]

Well... long history with rods... i've tried all of them with and without plus, and i stay with distance and performance.... strength was good to me at the begining, but then i saw that i get more large and medium fishes with the other 2, in any lake, that's why i stay with them, plus for me is so much easier to filter with distance plus in Durem, so that's my option wink

I like distance plus the most, because it has a better chance of catching large fish, and I have time to filter. However, if I want a lot of score in a short time, I prefer regular distance rod so it takes less time to reel it in.
if I'm going after junk, I use the regular strength rod, and if I want to practice my skills, I go to Durem with the regular basic rod xD
But, distance plus is the favourite.

I love the Performance PLUS. I don't know why, it's just the one I am most comfortable in and I can catch some great fish with it. Like a few times I get like 5 or 6 large fish in an F Bait Bucket with it. The space is also bigger on both the top AND the bottom.
