Congratulations; your first Route in Kanto! Route 1 is a rough country path bordered with ledges and patches of grass, surrounded by trees. It connects Pallet Town to Viridian City. There isn't a large variety of Pokemon, but it's perfect for honing your skills as a trainer.

((Armohny, for Mimi's Bulbasaur's character profile, Bulby's a male and has a heart pattern on its forehead...just thought I point it out...))

"Flora, we need training," Aisumaru stated, somewhat harshly. The two had started trekking through the grass reaching Aisumaru's knees, making a rather difficult walk for the short-legged Bulbasaur, who was constantly watching her step.

Flora nodded in agreement, rather used to the tone. "Bul-ba. Bul...ba-saur Bulbasaur!" Flora said hesitantly, glancing at a Pidgey, before making a chirping sound.

Aisumaru nodded, rather proud of his Bulbasaur's knowledge. "Yeah, let's stick to Rattata for now."

As soon as Aisumaru finished his statement, one of the amethyst-furred Pokemon he spoke of scurried out of the grass, grabbing onto the bulb on Flora's back.

Flora blinked twice, before shaking the rat off of her back. She jumped away, five feet from the Rattata, facing it and ready to attack at a moment's notice.

"Tackle," Aisumaru called in a commanding tone. The mouse-like Pokemon was obviously about to use the same move, and both pokemon came charging towards the other. At the moment just before contact, the blue-eyed trainer called, "Jump over it!"

The Rattata was not expecting that, coming to a halt as Flora leapt over the small fanged pokemon. However, the pokemon still refused to let the charge go without an attack, biting down on the seed Pokemon's leg as it flew past and whipping it's exposed stomach with its tail. Flora winced slightly, but pivoted upon landing and hitting the Rattata directly with a perhaps over-exerted tackle, as her hard head sent the mouse pokemon flying into a ledge and leaving a Rattata-shaped indent before falling, fainted, onto the ground.

Aisumaru walked over, and towered above Flora, before speaking. "Be more careful when you jump, maybe throw in some spinning or something so they can't get to you as easily as that piece of vermin could. And that last tackle had no control whatsoever, you hurt yourself in the process." He gestured toward the bruise that was now forming on the heart design on Flora's forehead. Flora nodded, piercing red eyes losing their shine as they fell towards the grass below.

He sighed, sitting in front of his Bulbasaur, and pulled out his first aid kit. In what could seem like no time at all, Flora's leg was bandaged and the smaller wounds on her forehead and stomach were tended to.

Once they were on route one they instantly went to the grass, both had the same idea in there mind. Both wanting to be stronger and training was going to help do that. Aki sniffed for other pokemon she was looking for her next opponent, but her enemy found her before she knew it. A Pidgey surprised both Hideki and Aki with a tackle, and it hit. Sending Aki back, she was thrown off guard. She wouldn't allow that to happen again she jumped back further and lowered herself. Glared and snarled at the Pidgey who fluttered in the air. Hideki commanded and bursts of flames came from Aki's mouth. It hit the Pidgey and it was burnt. It wasn't going to give up and it came straight for Aki and Hideki they both moved out of the way. Once Hideki said so Aki blew another bursts of flames and the Pidgey fainted. Hideki nodded and Aki knew that meant a good job.

Hideki wanted Aki to rest a bit; he was cruel to other people but was usually nice to his pokemon. Aki laid in the grass closing her eyes but kept alert. Hideki sat and read a book but their halcyon moment was ruined by a Rattata, it popped out of the grass in front of them. It didn't charge right away but showed its teeth in a threat. They both jumped up and looked at the new pokemon. Hideki still had the book in his hand but was still able to tell Aki attacks, which was exactly, what he did. Aki then let out an ember and the flames made contact the opponent. It drew back a little like it didn't know what had happened. It got over it and did a head on tackle this time Aki couldn't avoid it and got hit. Rattata hit Aki in the side and sent her sliding against the grass. Aki quickly got up and blew another set of flames. It also fainted and Aki had gained some damage, she wasn't in horrible pain but it was noticeable that she had been in battle. Hideki took her in his arms and carried her to a shady tree. He sat against the trunk and started to brush grass and dirt out of her fur. She relaxed in his arms as he picked rocks and other things out of her red fur.

"It's okay, you did great. If you keep this up, in no time we'll be strong and can start doing contest." If no body was around Hideki would praise Aki and stroke her fur. She soon felt better and Hideki placed her back on the ground.

"Vulpix!" Aki barked happily. She was feeling a bit better now that she didn't have any things in her fur. She twirled around happy trying to make Hideki smile, it worked and a small one stretched across his face. He rubbed the top of her head and spoke.

"Do you want to fight one more pokemon?" He said with that little smile still on his face. She smiled and barked happily again and it was her way of saying yes. He got up and brushed himself off and walked behind Aki as she ran into the grass. It took a little more time then the other encounters to find a pokemon. They were about to give up but another Pidgey appeared and Aki was ready for another battle and arched her back. Hideki commanded and she blew an ember straight at the pokemon, but it didn't hit. The Pidgey flew straight and tackled Aki with a strong tackle; sending her straight into Hideki's leg. It took her awhile to get up and Hideki had a look of concern on his face. Eventually she got up and was angered. Hideki understood her anger and told her to go all out. She let out a big ember and the Pidgey fainted instantly. Hideki rubbed her head again and carried her in his arms the rest of the way. He figured that this was good enough for now, since she was a had leveled up.

Crystylaquazz: Hey, I didn't notice that before! Thanks for pointing it out. It's okay though, I'm fine with that. In fact, it suits Mimi better that way (even if it is a male). P.S. I like how you organize everything at the end of your posts. Very nice...that's going to make everything a lot easier for you. And also, I noticed your pokemon profile: you actually only needed 65 EXP to go up to the next level and you got 75, so you only need 70 EXP now instead of 80. I wouldn't want you to miss out on 10 extra EXP!

The path out of Pallet Town immediately became Route 1. Mimi noticed the route started had a big patch of tall grass before it opened up. Some trainers kept their Pokemon out alongside them as they traveled, while others kept them in their pokeballs, only bringing them out for battles. Mimi was new at the whole trainer thing, and her Bulbasaur was still in it's pokeball and tucked away in her bag. She didn't think to let it out as she blindly made her way into the tall grass.

Going through the grassy patch was alot more difficult than Mimi had originally thought, as it was hard to see where she was going. At some point, she stepped on a discarded twig, snapping it in half. Normally, this would have been no big deal, but there must have been a flock of Pidgey nearby that were startled by the sound. They all flew up at once out of the grass, startling Mimi this time, who fell back onto the ground.

"Ow," she groaned, rolling onto her front and pushing herself up on her hands and knees and then into a sitting position. She gingerly rubbed her lower back, which was sore from having landed on it. Taking her bag off of her back, she reached into it and pulled out Bulbasaur's pokeball and released the grass Pokemon in front of her.

"Guess I should have you out just in case I get into any serious trouble," she told him. "I also better be more careful." Mimi sighed. "Ten feet into my journey and already I'm screwing up. Why do I have to be so danger prone?"

She sounded depressed all of a sudden that her journey was off to such a bad start, but one of Bulbasaur's vines came and lifted her chin. "Bulba..Bulbasaur!" he said with a bright smile. It brought a smile to Mimi's face too, cheering her up somewhat.

"Thanks, Bulby." She embraced the young plant Pokemon who, in turn, wrapped his vines around her. When the quick hug had ended, Mimi pulled away and took a good look at her Bulbasaur. Something caught her eye that she hadn't noticed before - the markings on Bulbasaur's head looked a lot like two hearts leaning against each other.

"How appropriate," Mimi said, gently tracing the marking. "It's because you're just so lovable I guess!"

Picking herself up off on the ground, Mimi pressed on through the tall grass with her Bulbasaur now by her side. They made it through that particular patch with no more problems. But there was still quite a bit of grass to go through, and they didn't make it without facing a handful of wild Pokemon.

Rattata and Pidegey were all over the place on this particular route, hiding behind every corner and grass patch. Mimi and Bulby's first encounter was a little shaky: A Rattata jumped out onto their path and tackled Bulby head on. The duo's approach must have startled it into attacking. Mimi was unsure of what to do really, since this was her first match, so Bulby made the first move without her command in order to protect her. He tackled the enemy Rattata, knocking it back. Rattata retaliated with a whip of it's tail. Mimi had regained herself and was more aware of the situation at this point, so she yelled out the attack this time.

"Tackle it again, Bulby!" It only took the two tackles before the Rattata was knocked out. Mimi was practically jumping for joy at having one her first battle ever. She lifted Bulby into the air and spun around a couple of times before setting him down again. Bulby was a little dizzy after that, but quickly recovered , enjoying the fact that he had pleased his trainer so greatly. If she acted like this every time, he would have no problem giving 110% in battles.

After that, the battles went alot smoother. Mimi got the hang of it after the first match, and was calling out attacks more confidently. Together, they took down another Rattata, and a Pidgey that crossed their path as well. It wasn't long before they reached the end of Route 1 and buildings were in their sight.

"That must be Viridian City!" Mimi exclaimed, pointing ahead to the civilization only a mile or so down the road. "We made it, Bulby! We're on our way!" Bulbasaur nodded and smiled at his trainer. But while Mimi took out her map and looked it over, Bulbasaur turned his direction to another trainer passing by. He was heading on toward Viridian City with a Vulpix in his arms. The two went unnoticed by Mimi, since she was engrossed with her map. Bulbasaur didn't try to get her attention, either. Besides, it seemed like the other trainer hadn't noticed them and Bulbasaur didn't want to get caught up in a brawl with a fire-type Pokemon. Neither he nor Mimi were ready for that kind of challenge. And if looks could give away a person's personality, this boy didn't seem too friendly.

But they quickly went out of sight and Mimi was putting away her map. She turned to Bulbasaur and said, "Let's go!" before the two headed off toward Viridian City. Bulbasaur kept a slow pace, so the trainer in front of them remained out of sight.

((ahh....oops, I did the whole level up thing wrong. After reading you conversation with electric spark, I think I misunderstood the whole it. I was wondering why it'd be so easy...I only got 25 exp after all, the other 50 was from earlier, the exp she needed to be level 5.))

Aisumaru carefully looked Flora over, she seemed ready to battle, ergo, he was ready to too. Flora and Aisumaru took down two more Rattata together, Flora level up to level 6, and seeming quite exhausted. Aisumaru walked with a sort of quiet pride, effectively communicating to his Bulbasaur that he was proud of her finally getting spin into her dodge and leveling up without letting anyone who couldn't read him as easily as Flora, who had spent 4 years with him, know.

"Hello sir," a lady wearing an apron with Pokemart clearly written on it greeted. "You are quite obviously a breeder, look at the sheen of that Bulbasaur! Our chain of stores, the pokemarts, providing supplies to traveling trainers, would be honored if you would shop there, take this small sample." The lady held out a potion.

Aisumaru, who had, up to this point, been glaring at the miraculously unfazed woman with a "you-talk-too-much" look, gained a small interest. He had studied the healing properties of berries, yes, but there were not any berry planting areas throughout all of Kanto, and the pokemart would be a wonderful place for him to buy supplies to keep his pokemon in good shape. He accepted the potion with a grunt, continuing on his way. Flora hurriedly bowed her head politely, before running rather awkwardly to catch up with her trainer.

Aisumaru raised an eyebrow at Flora's antics, but the two continued walking through a cloud of sand. Aisumaru was utterly confused, there was no wind at all before, and now, suddenly, fine grains of sand were swirling about. Flora, however, charged toward the source of the wind and struck it with a tackle in a rather desperate attempt to help her trainer. To her amazement and delight, she hit a pokemon, and the sand settled onto the ground. In a few minutes, however, to her utter horror, she was up against a Pidgey, which held a type advantage to herself.

Aisumaru, upon looking at the Pidgey, seemed almost amazed. This was a level 2 Pidgey, and yet it somehow knew sand-attack? He became determined to catch it, after all, to train a pokemon from level two could build a bond practically as strong as one raised from an egg. Also, could it be that it knew sand-attack, despite it's level? If that was the case, perhaps it knew other attacks it should not have as well.

"Flora, let's try to catch that Pidgey!" Aisumaru commanded. Flora nodded, staring at the Pidgey, waiting for a command. "Let's start with a tackle!"

"Bulba!" Flora agreed, running forward toward the Pidgey. The Pidgey stood it's ground, waiting for the attack. At the last second, it flew up into the air, out of Flora's reach. It dove down onto Flora with a tackle. "Bul...ba..." Flora said softly in turmoil.

Aisumaru was searching through his heading, thinking for something to do. The Pidgey was charging downward towards Flora, too frozen in fear to do anything but what she had done repeatedly, there was no way he could try to do something he had never done before, and expect Flora to respond. He suddenly got an idea, and spoke, "Flora, jump and spin! Then go into a tackle!"

Flora nodded at the familiar directions, having just perfected the move on the two preceding Rattata. She jumped upwards, spinning past the Pidgey, leaving her suspended in midair. From there, she clenched onto the Pidgey, landing on it with a rather body slam-like tackle. She jumped off of it, nodding at Aisumaru. The Pidgey was at a perfect time to be caught. Aisumaru threw a red-and-white capsule like ball at the Pidgey, it shook once, then twice...

...then stopped beeping, a perfect catch. Flora jumped up in excitement twice, before collapsing onto the ground. Aisumaru ran forward in panic, sighing in relief in seeing that Flora as only sleeping, and did not faint. He walked over to the Pokeball and picked it up, scrutinizing it. You caused us a lot of trouble...Mistral...

Aisumaru called Flora back into her pokeball, and completed the journey to Viridian City without any wild pokemon slowing him down.

DAY 1 - 10:33 A.M.
ROUTE 1

"Urg...uh...thanks." Red stuttered, as the overzealous clerk pushed a Potion into his hands. That rounded his stock up to two, after the Potion he'd withdrawn from his PC before leaving town. Shaking hands with the merchant, he took his leave, wanering up the winding road towards Viridian City. Mostly following the path, Red looked down at Charmander, who was happily trotting alongside, examining everything around her. She'd never been outside town before. Everything was new.

"Don't get too comfortable, Charmander. We'll have a battle soon, I just know it." Red smiled.

"Char!"

Ridiculosly ironic as it seems, at that moment, a wild Rattata, crossing the path in front of them, turned, and, sighting the duo, braced itself for a battle. Obviously it was a veteran at battles with beginning trainers, it was scarred in many places, was missing a whisker, and one ear was torn.

"Right, let's go, Charmander!" Red yelled. "Use scratch!" Charmander charged up towards Rattata and landed a blow right to the body, however, the Rat Pokemon retailiated, with a Tackle that sent Charmander back a couple steps. "Scratch it again!" Landing another blow, Charmander fought hard. Rattata whipped it's tail around, lowering Charmander's defense. Smiling, Red gave Charmander a command for one final Scratch, who complied. Rattata scampered back into the grass.

Besides two more Rattata, the rest of Red and Charmander's journey to Viridian was uneventful, and they arrived in the city at 11: 28.

Nomaa could only smile as she exited Pallet Town. This was it...this was the moment she had been waiting for these past months for. She was finally on her own Pokemon journey. Even though the weather was like every other day, the sunshine seemed brighter, the wind seemed sweeter, and the grass seemed greener. Turning to glance back at her home town as she continued on her way, she gave a small wave, even though there was no one really there to see her. It was more of a wave to the life she was leaving behind for this new one, filled with adventure. After all, she already had an edge on the competition with the pokemon that her brother gave her. With the two of them, she was going to start building a team in no time!

As the outline of Pallet disappeared behind her, she pulled Charmander's pokeball from her belt and released him out into the sunshine. He blinked a few times, his flaming tail swaying back and forth before he ran over and hugged her leg, nuzzling his head against the material of her jeans.

"Oh, you are just too perfect Charmander," she said with a smile and a small giggle, kneeling down and giving him a small pat on the head. She was about to say something else when there was a rustling in the grass behind her. Immediately, her body stiffened, not out of anticipation, but of fear. She suddenly realized that she had never been out in the wild by herself before, and the thought of the many things that could be lurking in the grass was enough to send a shiver up her spine. Charmander, however, had a much more seasoned approach. Stepping forward, he struck a battling stance, positioning himself inbetween Nomaa and the mystery creature. One second later, a small, brown and tan feathered head popped out of the grass.

"Char," Charmander exclaimed, looking back at Nomaa for instructions. Nomaa looked at the pokemon for a moment before pointing towards it and clearing her throat. When she spoke, her voice rang out through the area, commanding and reassured.

"Charmander, scratch attack," she exclaimed, her eyes widening slightly at the thrill of giving her first official order to her new pokemon. Charmander immediately leapt into action, closing the distance between himself and the wild stranger, delivering a powerful slash of his claws to the Pidgey, which slid back on the ground several inches.

"Again," Nomaa called out, seeing that the last hit seemed to do quite a bit of damage to the wild pokemon. Charmander pursued the wild pokemon, only to be thrown back by a tackle attack from the Pidgey. Digging his claws into the ground, he managed to flip himself back up and charge at the Pidgey, scratching it right across the middle to send it falling back slightly. This was her chance. Pulling an empty pokeball from her belt, she pressed the button on the top and threw it at the Pidgey. The pokemon disappeared in a flash of red, the ball falling on the ground and shaking. Nomaa could feel her heart pounding as she watched the pokeball shake once...twice...three times before ceasing and simply rolling over onto it's side.

At first, she looked on in a sort of shocked stupor. She had just caught her first wild pokemon, all by herself.

"That...was...AWESOME," she exclaimed, running up and picking up Charmander in a tight hug before stooping to grab the new Pidgey she had just caught. She held Charmander in one arm while bringing the now full pokeball up to her eye level, unable to hide the wide grin on her face. Giving Charmander a small squeeze, she could not stop the adrenaline rush pulsing through her system. She felt like she could take on the world, and as she walked, she began to daydream about her and her pokemon taking on the elite four. Charmander had just done a number on a pokemon in the ring when she suddenly crashed into a poor woman in an apron. Nomaa toppled backwards, tucking her body around Charmander who was still in her arms so that he would not get hurt.

"Oh my, I am so sorry," Nomaa said as she set Charmander down and got to her feet, dusting off her jeans before looking at the woman who was straightening her hair.

"Oh, it is quite alright. I can always tell a good trainer as the ones who are so focussed on strategy they cannot even see in front of their noses," she said with a smile, feeling around in her apron for something before she continued to speak.

"I work at the Pokemart, and am out here to promote business. We have all of your pokemon needs. Here is a small sample to get you started," she said with a pleasant smile, handing her a potion from her apron.

"Thanks! I'll make sure to check it out," Nomaa said with a smile, giving the woman a small smile and a wave before stepping past her into the long grass between herself and the next town. She had not gone far before she encountered a small purple rat on the ground in front of her. Immediately, it looked up from the small morsel it was chewing on and gave her a growl, Charmander stepping protectively in front of her once more.

"Hang on," she said to Charmander, unclipping a pokeball from her belt and looking at it.

"Let's see what you can do," she said to the pokemon inside, releasing it into the area in front of her. Magikarp became visible, flopping around on the ground in front of her. Her eyes widened slightly as she saw it's golden body glittering in the sunshine. This was the amazing pokemon that her brother had left for her? A crappy Magikarp? Nomaa looked at the wild Rattata as it eyed Magikarp, running towards it in a tackle attack.

"Aggressive little thing. Alright, Magikarp, don't let me down! Go," she called, motioning for it to attack the wild pokemon. As the Rattata made it into attacking range, Magikarp flopped around a little faster on the ground in a splash attack, which of course did nothing. Rattata smashed into Magikarp, sending the fish flying back into her arms. Nomaa caught it, the weight of the pokemon knocking the wind out of her slightly. Charmander immediately leapt into Magikarp's place, poised for battle with a mischievous glint in his eye.

"Scratch," Nomaa ordered as she returned Magikarp to his pokeball. Charmander leapt forward and swept his claws across the Level 2 Rattata's body. Immediately, the creature leapt forward in a tackle attack, knocking Charmander back slightly. Charmander glared at the wild pokemon and jumped forwards in another scratch attack, which connected and sent the rat pokemon scurrying back into the grass. Nomaa ran forwards and picking up Charmander once more, giving him a hug.

"Good job," she said with a smile, looking ahead to see Viridian City approaching. Taking off at a run, Charmander trotted along at her heels. Nomaa was still reeling...how could her brother have left her such a useless pokemon? Magikarp were known for being nothing but stupid...sighing, she slowed herself down to a walk and headed into the city, Chamander grabbing ahold of her pant leg and walking next to her, almost as if he were afraid that she was going to get lost.

"Char-Charmander," he said affectionately as he looked up at her, giving her a toothy grin.

((Syrens Song: please don't delete posts in RP threads. If you do a dice action and it fails to catch a Pokemon, then you just lose a pokeball in your bag and try again. I can see when people delete posts in the crew activity log. Though, I can't see the posts themselves. So, if you didn't fail to catch a Pokemon and you just messed up the post - which is okay, that happens alot - still leave the post and just edit it saying you messed up and post again))

Bloo and Natsuko walked into the tall grass of Route 1, a broad smile on her face. She was itching to get into another battle. Thankfully, before long they enocuntered a wild Pidgey, picking through the grass for something to eat. Bloo was ready and rearing to get into a battle, and so he leapt forwards quickly into a tackle attack towards the wild pokemon. Another attack later, and the Pidgey was weakened enough for Natsuko to throw a pokeball at. Pulling an empty pokeball out of her bag and throwing it at the pokemon. For a moment she thought she had caught her first wild pokemon, but instead the pokemon broke free of the pokeball.

"Dangit," she called out, before telling Squirtle to go ahead and finish off the battle. One tackle attack later, and the wild Pidgey was down for the count. After a word of praise from Natsuko, the pair was on their way once more. It was not too much longer when they enountered a wild Rattata as well. This one went a little more smoothly than the first battle, and it only took a tackle attack to cause the wild pokemon to faint. She could do nothing but smile as she could see her Pokemon enjoying the battling it was doing.

Continuing on their way, it was not long before they came across a young woman standing in the middle of the path.

"Oh, hello! I work at the Pokemart in Viridian City. We have everything you need for your pokemon journey. Here is a free sample of the things we have to offer," she said, handing over a potion to Natsuko.

"Oh, thanks," she said in return to the woman before heading on her way with Bloo next to her. As they made their way towards Viridian City they encountered another rattata, which was disposed of by Bloo rather easily. As Bloo grew up a level, the two of them entered the next major stop on their journey: Viridian City.
