Okay so this idea has been on my mind for awhile and I want to see what others think. I have been considering compiling all the book reviews from the Recommended Lesbian Reading section and combining them into what I have tentatively called "The Lesbian/Trans Library". These are my ideas for it so far:
1st post would be introductory and such
2nd, 3rd post, etc. would list books first by subject then in alphabetical order by title. There would be a new post for each subject area: fantasy, historical, romance, drama, etc.
- Under each title there will be:
- Links to the specific post in the recommended thread with the review
- List of who has recommended the book (guild members)
- List price (default on back of book)
- Links to amazon.com/Borders to buy the book
- Other titles (if the book is part of a series)
I think this type of thread would be beneficial to this guild section because the recommended reading is just continuously added to. It's not in order, and if a reader wants to purchase the book, they have to do it on their own. With The Lesbian/Trans Library, guild members could easily search for books by subject and title. They can easily find member reviews on the books by clicking links that lead to the recommended reading thread. Finally, they can easily follow the link to amazon.com/Borders to purchase or find more information on the book.
This thread would in no way void the recommended reading thread. That thread would still be good for its intended purpose- which was recommending and reviewing. My thread would just make things very easy for those trying to find good lesbian/trans books.

I actually started on this tonight. It's gonna take me awhile to finish up, but from what I have so far, it's coming along nicely.
This is what the details will be for each book:
Title:
Author:
Summary: (All summaries are taken from amazon.com)
GLITS Reviews: (All reviews are taken from the Recommended Reading thread. Please leave all reviews there!)
Series: (If the book is part of a series, all other relevant books will be listed here)
List Price: (Default cost on back of book/amazon.com)
Purchase: (Link to purchase the book via amazon.com)
In addition to this, there will be a separate post that lists all the books currently in the library. There will also be a post where only the authors will be listed. Under each author's name is the titles they have written for lesbian/trans fiction that are listed in the library. Example:
Maney, Mabel
---- Case of the Good-for-Nothing Girlfriend (The), Case of the Not-So-Nice-Nurse (The), Ghost in the Closet (A), Girl with the Golden Bouffant (The), Kiss the Girls and Make Them Spy
