I'll make this extremely simple, but I'm always usin' D bait when I get the chance and I'm going to persuade you all to my point of view. blaugh
A Bait: First off, thanks to bait degradation (there's a sticky on it I believe in the Fishing Forum) you can get 5 A baits without spending the 250 gold on each bait per 12 hours. That's a pretty good deal, and in my eyes, if you feel the need to fish a couple buckets with that quality fish then that is the way to do it - those first 5.
Otherwise, I'd just recommend A bait to those trying to go for a trophy.
F Bait: First and most importantly, if you are trying to hook a rare at ALL, keep in mind that if you get your 'lucky bucket' while fishing with F *QUALITY* Bait (I.E. past the first 5 buckets of the day) then it will automatically LOSE that rare fish. That's just something I'm not willing to give up. Check out the price tags on those rare fishies, no thanks.
Besides that point, you can only catch *one* large fish with F quality bait per bucket and there are loads of trash and small fish in there. It just doesn't make for a good bucket.
D Bait: The heavenly choice! D Bait is 100 gold, which can easily be made back at any of the three lakes when fishing - you'd just have to filter and sell all your mediums when doing so at Bass'ken. Trust me, you can still make the money back, PLUS keep the Stripers. At Gambino and Durem, you can generally make the money back by simply selling the small fish you catch, and you can keep the rest for yourself.
Not only that, but you are keeping your 'lucky bucket' available for a rare. You never know when one will grab your line, and you don't want it to be canceled out by an F bait!
It is just the obvious choice.
F bait for newbies A bait for trophy hunters D BAIT for the PROFITING FISHERMAN!
Choose wisely! ^_^

I just use my F and D bait until they are degraded to their original quality.

smile good idea but i always use A bait & still make a profit(well usually a little) i just figure if i'm ever gonna catch a rare i don't want to risk losing it cause i had lower bait.but then i guess i'm a kinda weird fisher cause i never filter at all unless its gambino where its easiest. lol i just reel in everything most of the time.

You can't lose a rare on D bait - that was part of the point of my post.
The catchers were supposed to be:
You *can* lose a rare on F bait D bait is easier to make a profit on
Though, of course, A bait is the way to go if you are trophy fishing.
(and yes, of course Blade, you should fish your undegraded F and D first...but this thread is assuming you fish more than 5 buckets a day.) sweatdrop

I had never thought of it too much. Thanks for explaining the nature of the baits available. And yes, I've been fishing A bait, but it's darned expensive considering.

Very convincing exposé. D bait is actually my favourite unless I compete.
