I don't shoplift or pick up people's stuff and keep them.
And half my friends already know about it.
And I don't get any respect as is, so i'm fine with that.

As far as I see, stealing isn't great, no matter what you take. It's still somebody elses and not yours...
You won't gain respect if you don't do anything for it.
