Valin coudln't believe he actually had a break from his mage training. Actually, he was wondering if his teachers were just getting sick of him and needed a break themselves. He was improving greatly...but slower than say the younger students who didn't have to start their lives over. Changing from a guard to a mage still is taking some getting used to but at least now he was learning how to control his magic.
Before anyone could change their minds about giving him the day off Valin took himself off to the city to find some tavern to hide in. Many taverns in Haven catered to the young with ministrels for entertainment and just others of his own age for company. He was sure he could find something entertaining but what he really hoped for was that he could find his Little Lark. He hadn't spoken to Ara in months! He was rather afraid that she had found someone else or just simply forgotten about him. He felt awful but mage training usually left him so tired at the end of the day that he couldn't even manage to write her a note no matter how many times he tried - he usually ended up dozing off before he even got started.
Promising music from a tavern drew him inside and he knew he found a good place to pass the time. Lots of youngsters his age and music to his taste. He found himself a small table near the minstrel and ordered himself a drink. Soon he was lost in the music and forgetting about all that troubled him.

Ara sighed. She was never going to get all this work done! And....she still had her song about Herald-Mage Vanyel to finish, something she hadn't been able to even think about as of late. It seemed like the teachers had realized she was deciding to come out of her shell, and had her doing many things. None that she really wanted to do. All she'd really wanted to do was sit and write her song and....
She really wanted to be with Valin. It'd been a long time since she'd seen him, and she found herself really missing him. And all the time she used to have that was free for her to do whatever she wished with. Those had been the days. Now it was just school, perform, sleep, school, work, sleep, school, work, perform, sleep. She was currently in the performing part of her day, and she was hoping it would end soon. She loved performing, but this was a bit much.
She sighed, and at the end of her song, stopped to get something to drink. Soon, she'd be free to go home.....and do her homework. Oh joy. This was going to be fun.

After the drink hits his system Valin's senses start to return. As he listens to the music he notices how familiar it sounds and he was trying to remember why. When the music stopped he opened his eyes and ...was that Ara? He couldn't tell because the ministrels...no, bard trainee...had her back to him as she headed for the bar. Quickly he got up and followed her. As he got closer he cleared his throat to get her attention. He didn't want to start babbeling and discover he had the wrong person.

Sora took a quick sip from her cup, then heard the noise behind her. She figured it was just someone going to compliment her, and nothing more. It'd happened a few times since she'd started performing, but not as often as others got it. Sighing quietly, she turned, and blinked. In front of her was a face she hadn't seen in three months. "Valin!?!?!" She said, her face lighting up.

Valin's face lit up as the bard to be turned around revealing herself to be Ara.
Little Lark! It's been far too long.
He took her in his arms and kissed her deeply. Suddenly he realized that was a little presumptious of him so he released her from the kiss but still held her...just in case.
I tried to write you...but I've just been so busy...
His excuses trailed off as he heard how lame they were.

Ara giggled, and turned a slight shade of red. She'd forgotten how...enthusiastic he could be. "It's alright, really. I forgive you." She snuggled into his chest for a moment, then moved her head up and kissed him lightly on the lips.

Then we should leave this place. Run away with me. We'll find some priest to marry us. We can travel the world together - you can play if we need money and I can protect us from harm.
He was half-teasing. He knew they could never run away together like that but it was a favorite day dream of his.

Ara giggled again. "That sounds....like it could be great! But...you being a Mage and I being a Bard...trainee, they would come for us....and force us back into the dullness of learning." She liked the sound of it though...it was very tempting.

Valin grimaced because Ara was right. They wouldn't be tracked down because they were important and needed but Haven had a thing against letting half-trained students leave because of the damage they could cause.
At least we won't be in training forever. He replied. Then musingly, we could see each other a lot more if you moved in with me.
