I'm in a band, I play bass and guitar. If you are getting a guitar below 600 dollars, Ibanez is your best shot. If your going above that, go all the way and get a gibson les paul. Now singing and playing guitar at the same time. thats difficult. The best way is probly to get to know the song by heart, and practice to the point where your hands play the song freely. After that you start adding in the singing. Its a multitasking thing. Kind of like over the years you learn to talk on the phone while doing homework and shooting people on your computer.

I'm in a band, too. I play lead guitar and lead singer, and it is really hard. Now, what do you mean exactly by finger tapping? Because I'm thinking of hammering. Or finger picking. Both of those are easy and I can help you with them.

finger tapping, well at least one hand, its kind of hard to explain, but its basically, you tap on the string, that youll have to figure out, but then the next two you do pull offs usually, so its tap-pulloff-pulloff-tap-pulloff-pulloff. Its a hard concept to explain. but what song are you learning, i might be able to help.

Don't listen to the other guy about guitars.
If it's your first guitar,
(unless you plan on playing shows with it)
just buy a guitar that you feel comfortable playing and that sounds good to you.

If you're going to spend a lot,
then it just depends on what style of music you want to play.

As for tapping,
you hammer on to the preferred note with the index finger of your strumming hand.
Then,
your finger still pressing down on the string,
slide it off perpendicular with the frets,
kind of picking the string at the same time.

Hope I was helpful.
