I know a few of you are wondering where I've been (IvoryDoll and river_elves are the only ones that come to mind), but now that I finally have time, I'll attempt to explain everything...

In short, military school. Those teachers just luurv(love) giving homework, and I've been drowning in it! I've never been so busy before! In the mornings, we have formations, which is basically just us standing in lines and rows in the hot sun with the Class Leaders standing in front of us and the Academy Leader further in front. We have to "salute the flags" (of the United States, Puerto Rico, Christianity and Vega Baja[the city, basically]), though I end up saluting a Precious Moments poster on a trailer behind the flags and my group isn't told to turn around to face the actual flags, through old-sounding music(I wouldn't be surprised to find a vinyl record player in the office) of La Borinqueña(pronounced lah buh-reen-keh-nyah; is Puerto Rico's hymn) and The Star-Spangled Banner. After that, we stand normally again(at attention) and do the parade rest(hands flat behind our backs) through a bit of the Bible and a prayer, then we're at attention again, and the class leaders respond to a command that is "Take charge and take them to class" (to which they respond "Wo-o-o-o-o!" and salute, though some others just to annoy them say it too) and we march to class. The rest of the day goes on like an American public school, but with less comfortable uniforms and worse English.
Well, now you know. Just to make it worth reading, a short quiz on military...things. Answers in white.

~What's the proper way to stand at attention?
~Straight, with arms on the side almost making fists, feet tightly together in the ankles, about a foot's length apart at the toes, forming a "V" shape.
~What's the proper way to salute?
~From attention, the right hand is straight, with the thumb sort of folded in. Your upper arm should be parallel to the ground, and you should touch your temples with only 2 fingers and sort of show your hands.
~What's the command to salute?
"Present arm", I think. Present something...I can never hear it properly. When not in uniform, this means to put your right hand on your heart.
~What's the parade rest?
You stand with feet shoulder length apart and hold your right hand with your left behind your back(on your lower back), pretty flat-looking. The command for this is easy; "Parade rest"
~What's the difference between the parade rest and "at ease"?
"At ease" is also with your hands behind your back, but the hands are lower.
~When do you take off the hat/cap your uniform includes(if any), if you ever take it off?
When indoors, though different squads may have different definitions of this. I'd say, take it off whenever you go through a door, rolleyes though that's not necessarily true. I recommend you go with the old saying; "When in Rome, do as the Romans do".
~What's CMA stand for?
Cadet Military Assistance, though in my school, we use it for "Christian Military Academy".

Well, hope you enjoyed this, or at least found out where I've been. 3nodding

Wow. Sounds busy.
Well, I hope things ease up for you a bit, and you have some fun as well. ^_^

Hikaru: OK, it's settled I'm not going to visit your art school, like we say in Puerto Rico, ni pa'. [lit. slang for "not even for"]

It's getting tough. The other day I took a laptop to school for a presentation and didn't know the password. I borrowed a friend's cell phone, went out of the classroom(too much noise) and called my sister, who knew the password. She didn't answer any of the ten or so times I called. Then the headmistress came by and asked why I was talking on the cell phone while it was time for class. After explaining everything, she asked for the cell phone.
"Give me the cell phone", she said.
"No, it's not mine." I said. Technically, I was telling the truth.
"Your parents can pick it up when they come to pick you up."
"No, it's not mine"
"Follow instructions and give me the phone", she said in a strict voice. Somehow, at this moment, she reminded me of Umbridge(Harry Potter's headmistress in the fifth book/movie). I think the "follow instructions" says a lot about her. If I didn't give it to her, what makes her think that telling me to follow instructions will make me give it to her. She got lazy and got the P.E. teacher to send me to the office, where I explained everything and she had to let me go. In the end, I had to use another girl's laptop for the presentation. That just shows you how sucky she(the headmistress) is. The other day she suspended(expelled?) someone for painting her hair at school until she paints it back.

River: Well, I guess it does have its ups too. How many people do you know that can salute properly? rolleyes On the other hand I get to measure the temperature, rainfall and its pH every third week or so for a club. I get excused from some classes ocassionally as well, and never argue when that is done! (last time we missed math and Spanish, in which we had a quiz that day) Yeah, but they don't use the camouflage uniform anymore...blast...they say it's comfy. Now only the Class Leaders and Academy Leader get to use it.

Dang. That's exactly from the HP Books o.o

Expelled (here in the U.S. at least) is when you get kicked out of that particular school permanently, and suspended is when you aren't allowed in school for 'x' number of days. By 'Paint' do you mean dye? (such as to change the color more permanently)

River: Yup, like she jumped straight out of the pages. Only that less pink in her office, more green and ivory, like the rest of the school. rolleyes Thanks for the clarification, it's like in Spanish then.(suspendido/a and expulsado/a) Oh, right, dye, my bad. She got suspended till she dyed her hair back, which, in the end, took about a week. Amazing how she could do it without anyone noticing until she did it, isn't it?

Ivory: How? Adverb. Why? Adverb. Who? Adverb. That's (almost) how I was taught adverbs. 3nodding razz [If I recall correctly it was How, When, Where]
Well, you have uniforms, controlled hairstyles and popularity levels, somewhat close enough. Well, I have another adventure to tell...Conny's.

Conny's our temporary military teacher, next week they're bringing the permanent one. We call him Conny as for the TV show(I don't think you ever saw that) Conny la Vaquita (Conny the Little Cow) because his camouflage uniform on his first day was like a cow, pretty much, black, brown and white. I like him because he punished the kid who bothers me for not bringing his name tag or beret that day. Punished as in made him do push-ups. 'Twas about time. Anyways, he's from the Marines and if there's one thing he can do, it's yell...Wow, on formation I was scared to turn my head to the side, though out of the corner of my eye(recent test with the eye doctor proves I can barely see out of the corner of my eye, the color I'm supposed to see the second-easiest out of the corner of my eye is the one I see the hardest...imagine how clear the picture was) I saw about 6 people doing push-ups...oops. When I saluted him he smiled and saluted back. The smile clearly said, " 'Bout time, some respect 'round here!" Haven't gotten in trouble with him so far. Good, because I have absolutely no arm strength. Can barely do ONE men's push-up. Can do women's fine, but tire easily.

river elves: Your "eh?", I meant how the girl could dye her hair without anyone noticing. Yeah, but everyone hates push-ups. Why do you think they use it as punishment in the military? Yeah, well, should you ever be in a military academy, ALWAYS respect the sergeant, even if he is Major Pain Death(thankfully, Conny's always going to be "Conny" or "Major Cow" to me, I'm good, he's never seen me do a push-up! I hope he never does!) because then he'll just always be [even] angry [angrier] with you all the time. Lower ranks show respect to the higher ranks first. On the other hand, avoid ever having to do a push-up. Push-ups and demerits come in pairs...Oh, and you can have nice dreams too. I don't sleep over, but of the sixteen hours I'm awake, I spend 8 there, perhaphs 1 extra waiting to be picked up, 2 doing homework/projects and preparing my backpack for the next day, and another 2 getting ready for school(looking and putting on my uniform, etc.), 40 minutes eye therapy, and the restdoing miscellaneous things and taking baths. I'm sloooowww...., aren't I? Ah, well...I'll workon my time-managing skills...eventually. rolleyes

This is the first time I ever have a schedule. biggrin But something unexpected always happens to make me not quite stick to it...so I more of think of it as a "to-do" list.
They fired Conny about a month ago! biggrin Now, however, we have a new sargeant, who may be ugly but is nice. We've never spoken a word to each other, though. On the plus side, Mom isn't happy with CMA! I'm going to another school next semester! Either that, or Massachusets(sp?), USA, which would also mean a new school...Look out, snow, 'cause there's a cold Puertorrican coming your way! biggrin

I may be out of military school but I'm in the Math Olimpics! Whoo! biggrin If you didn't think I was geeky already, you've just been proven wrong. The next stage is the Saturday after next, so even though I technically have no class yet, but I'm studying for them. So look out, world, here I come!! Well, am... rolleyes

I didn't get anywhere with that competition. I did, however, get a free pencil, eraser and sharpener! (all of which I lost, except the pencil, which no longer has an eraser or sharpens...) Since then I got into another math competition, which I won(and did not get any free writing utensils out of) and was awarded a trophy with a typo: "[...]Ninth Grade, Elementary Level" which isn't really a typo, more of a half-asleep engraver...poor guy...either way, by winning that one, I got into another one in which I didn't place(or get any free stationary either, but did get a free lunch and another school day off) but did make a friend. biggrin whose phone number I lost...darn it!!

Anyway, even though I barely have access to the Internet during most of the week, I do have a distraction: Karate lessons! biggrin Now I can know what they do in those chop-socky movies! defend myself! Whoo! It's called(this particular type of karate) "Taifu-shoi" and was invented here in Puerto Rico(and that I know of there are only 2 dojos that teach it) and is a mix of Tae Kwon Do, Kung Fu and...some Japanese martial art...with a name I forgot... sweatdrop Er...yeah...
