In order to keep the RPs cohesive and flowing, there need to be some guidelines – simple do’s and don’ts, as well as some suggestions. These rules pertain specifically to the RP subforum (which is the main forum) and are not necessarily the same for all others. Therefore, before you start RPing, please read over and sign the following rules:

• Before posting any RP, please PM a mod with a basic summary of your idea. You must have your idea approved before posting it. There is a sticky for approved RPs and if yours is not on the list, it will be deleted.
• After your idea is approved, send another PM to a mod with a finalized summary as well as a link to your RP. These will both be used in the ‘approved RPs’ sticky, so please take into consideration that others will be viewing (and perhaps choosing an RP based on) your summary.
• When joining an RP, fill out any applications that that RP owner may have. Send all applications to whoever started the thread (unless that user has become inactive, in which case there will be a note at the top including instructions) via PM. Do not post your profile in the RP. The owner of the thread will then put up your profile on the profile list. If your profile is not approved, please do not take it personally. In the case that your PM is never answered (meaning that user has likely become inactive), please contact a mod. It is advisable that you keep copies of your character applications in the chance that the RP owner never answers and you must resend your application to a mod.
• Again, please keep everything PG13. If you must carry it further, take it to PM.
• Fighting in RPs is permitted, but please do not overdo it. These are not meant to be exclusively battle RPs.
• Do not god mod. God modding is the act of controlling someone else’s character’s actions. This is a serious offense, especially if done repetitively, and depending on the degree it may be banable. If you see someone god modding, please contact a mod immediately. If you need further clarification as to what god modding is, and how bad a degree actually makes it an offense, please ask a mod. If it is a given action – like saying the other character was breathing – or if it is a description that has already been determined for that character, then it is not punishable.
• Do not kill another person’s character without permission. As to other serious subjects, particularly ones that may cause trauma for a character, contact the other RPer first and make sure that it is all right with him.
• If you plan to create a specific plotline within an RP and you are not the owner (therefore meaning that the plot is not outlined in the setting), please try to work together with the others involved, including the owner of the RP. It may happen that whoever owns the RP has plans of his or her own and that yours may interfere. It also helps create a better understanding between the members of the RP if everyone involved has at least some idea of what is going on, rather than just throwing them in.
• Any Out Of Character (OOC) posts must be designated somehow – whether it is which parenthesis, brackets, or some other form of notation does not matter so long as it is understandable that the OOC text is separate from the RPing.
• Do not do any *action* posts. This is a literate RP guild, meaning that posts should be written literately. Speech goes within double quotations, actions are written in past tense, and thoughts are designated by italics, single quotations, or both.
