::Streets of Haven::

Weaving around like a maze, the streets inside the walls of Haven are terrible to navigate if you've never been through them before. A perfect defensive system however...

Silversnow sighed. He had been stuck in these winding streets for hours. The directions that that other man gave him at the Griffon's Egg didn't help much. At least he wasn't as hungry as he was before...

He continued to walk with his head in the paper filled with directions. He was starting to lose hope himself.

::Cheer up:: Skale told him. ::You can do it!:: Silversnow couldn't help himself, he smiled at the hawks attempted pep talk.

Jaden was wandering. He wasn't lost, he just felt like wandering. It was one of those moods he got into when he wasn't busy trying to earn a living. Or bedding. But tonight, neither of those was he goal.

A muted roar began to build over Silversnow's head, accompanied by a black-and-purple haze that thickened and churned in a self-contained sphere just above the rooftops. With a crack! and a whoosh of air, the cloud-sphere dissipated, dropping several odd shapes out of the sky. Most bounced off roofs or corners of roofs and hit the ground hard, but one - one that seemed to have wings - got lucky and landed on an awning. The awning collapsed, but it slowed the fall well enough that it was only a rough tumble.

Of the shapes that hit the ground, six or seven were vaguely canine at some point, but now seemed completely boneless. They were obviously dying. The winged one, however, seemed relatively unharmed - until you saw the claw-marks and lacerations across his torso. He had the body of a human, but the tawny eyes, ear-tufts, wings, tail, talons and hind feet of a gryphon. A large crow hopped nervously to his side, striking green eyes darting around warily. The bird's nervous fluttering revealed flashes of vivid fuschia beneath his wings.

Silversnow's head jerked up. Why did he have to be lost under this particular part of the city. Skale flung himself to a safe spot in the sky, while Silversnow ducked and tumbled to get out of the way of the falling awning.

"What is this?" he yelled in his accented tongue.

::Snow! on the ground... it's a beast!:: Skale's thoughts came racing towards Silversnow. His eyes were glued to the thing on the floor.

::I see it, Skale, but what in the world is it?:: his unquavering thought was scent quickly back. Skale swooped back down towards Silversnow where he would be safter.

A shallow pool of blood spread slowly from beneath the Changechild. He stirred weakly, and tried to push himself up - but his taloned hand slipped in the crimson liquid and he fell onto his shoulder (dislocated, by the look of it) with a cry of pain.

The crow fluttered anxiously, then turned one sharp, green eye on Silversnow. ::Are you going to help or not?:: It snapped, its 'voice' unusually clear - even for a Bondbird.

"I plan to," he said in the bird's tongue. "I was analyzing the situation first. His wounds are deep, but others could have been saved first. That was my intent." He knelt next to the beast/human and did what he could. "You will have to excuse my feeble attempt, I am not a healer."

He didn't turn to Skale, though his thoughts did. ::Skale, fly up and see if you can find the building with the healers in it. Get their attention and lead them here:: Skale seemed to nod and fly away.

::As long as it keeps him alive, I'll take what I can get.:: The crow said briskly, pacing back and forth near the gryph-boy's head.

As for the gryphon-child... His amber eyes opened occasionally, catching the Hawkbrother in his unfocused gaze. His stubby talons spasmed once or twice, in response to a flare of pain; the tufted tip of his tail twitched listlessly, as weakened as the rest of him.

"I am sorry for the pain," he added to the semi-conscious half-bird. "I do not know what I can do for you, but I will try. Just manage a trifle longer." He hoped that Skale was able to find a healer.

The tan man kneeled with his back towards the new comer, but he still heard him approach. "Do you know anything about closing wounds?" he asked him quickly.

The wounds were difficult to close, but Silversnow knew how to do it by himself. What had him worried were the wings and the tail. He had fixed Skale's feathers before, but this was on a much grander scale. These wings were massive, and they needed to be able to carry a heavier object instead of just a small hawk. It would have to do though.

Tyson and Brightwind were "cruising" the streets. The dyheli walked around calm and confident while his Tayledras charge rode along looking rather, well, ditzy. Brightwind could not remember why they were even out in the city instead of being in Valdemar's minivale. Tyson reassured her that they had things to do so she accepted the situation - even if she didn't understand it.

They both looked in the direction of a muted roar and then moved in the direction of sudden lights in sky.

::Feel like exploring?:: Tyson asked.

Always! Brightwind replied.

As they approached the scene they saw a Tayledras leaning over someone wearing a feathered costume and obviously hurt. A few birds were in the area as well. As they got closer Brightwind realized that the hurt one wasn't wearing a costume - they were growing from it!

::Can we be of any help?:: Tyson projected to the group

Silversnow didn't even move his head to see who had approached him. This alleyway was getting fairly crowded about now. "Yes," was his simple response. He kept bandaging what he could. He kept the bandages and twine in a small bag at his side. He had been traveling well enough to know that being outside of towns wasn't exactly safe, so he now came prepared.

"Do you know how to secure or heal wounds?" He silently begged that the answer was going to be positive.

::So... what would a healer's place look like... there aren't any trees:: Skale's quick thoughts came to Snow.

::You will be looking for a large building that is fairly high, other than that, I do not know::

::Great.....:: Skale's trained eyes darted from one point of the city to the next. All of the buildings were big and tall...

"I am sorry for the pain,"

"Don't worry about it..." The gryph-boy managed to croak. "I've been through worse..."
His attention was only partially on his injuries and the one patching him up. The rest of his pain-fogged mind was trying to figure out what was wrong with his beak, and why the man was so.. Large. Had he fallen into a city of giants?... Or had he shrunk?

((He's got several lacerations, some nasty bruises and a dislocated shoulder, but that's it. Oh, and a mild concussion. ))

Xiran had left the palace, bored out of her mind since most of the people she talked to where gone right now. She'd decided that a nice walk through town would suit her well enough today. After all, it was a lovely day!
She'd started down the main stretch of cobblestone, when something clicked in her head, and she was filled with a sense of urgency, and almost fear. Her hooves danced daintily against the stone, chiming a few times before she took off down the street in a rush of white.
