This is the official Persuasion thread, the last novel written by Jane Austen.

Oh, the wonders that can be found on the internet.

The below is an advertisement of the lotion the Sir Walter recommends
Quote:
"Certainly you cannot do better than to continue as you are; you cannot be better than well; or I should recommend Gowland, the constant use of Gowland, during the spring months. Mrs. Clay has been using it at my recommendation, and you see what it has done for her. You see how it has carried away her freckles."

You could do whether or not you'd wait all that time for Captain Wentworth...or something. I'm said to say that this is the only Austen novel I've not read/watched/know the story by heart... redface I feel ashamed even posting here!

^ You must read it! I love Persuasion. The first two chapters are a little slow, but the story is so poignant. *Captain Wentworth fangirl alert*

I know the story a bit, especially from the Lake House (with Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock) where they really use it to good effect...and I keep meaning to see the version with Ciaran Hinds as Captain Wentworth *dies* heart He was an amazing Mr. Rochester in Jane Eyre!

I must see Lake House!

I really did love Persuasion, I read it in one day.
I don't want to give to much away, but the end.... it was so great!
Originally Jane wrote a different ending, which I have also read.
but it is no where as good as the ending she used.

Heart-throb heart heart heart heart

Oh Persuasion was one of my all time favorite Jane novels. It was by far her most underrated work. everybody knows Pride and Prejudice but Anne and Wentworth's love is truly sigh worthy biggrin

Changing the subject are we... but yes I have read Jane EYre, and The Eyre Affair ( a modern classic), The Professor and Agnes Grey (or is it Gray?)
I do like the Brontes' work, very heart throb, but not witty like Austen. I think that is why Charlotte never liked Jane's work, she doesn't ave a sense of humour.

If only we could combine both their writing styles, it would be so...wait, maybe that wouldn't be a good idea.

OMG, I LOOOOOVE The Eyre Affair! I've read the first four of them, and got the guy that I like to read the first coupld. AND THERE'S A NEEEW ONE!
