“Hey! Come back!”

Mjrn called out as she stumbled after a bird that was flying off and away from her sight. She just wanted to talk! Damnit all to hell, she swore as she slowly stopped herself and sighed deeply. It sucked not having anyone to talk to. All of her family seemed to be busy… all Mjrn wanted was a friend. She had been feeling a little lost lately and needed some kind of… company to keep her mind off of things.

Yes. That’s all she wanted.

With a low head the dark coated lioness slowly padded onto the nearest water hole, a look of sorrow crossing her maw.

Luckily enough for the young two-toned lioness, the waterhole was exactly where Kiasi had chosen to plant her pretty golden-brown hide. She often came this way to think, and the great slab of rock that stretched out partially into the waters was just the right place to do it. Unluckily for Kiasi, however, she often found that her thoughts were interrupted by this lion or that. She didn’t always mind, especially if they knew how to keep their opinions and their ridiculous thoughts to themselves. She just wasn’t much for silly blabbering.

Kiasi’s eyes had been shut, hiding the deep blue orbs from the light of the world, and though she appeared to nearly be asleep, he little tale wavered back and forth behind her form. She heard the exclamations from the younger lioness nearby, however, and immediately peeled back those lids. She frowned as she came closer, as long as the young lioness was not watching. God, but she hoped the female had a little bit of wit about her, she certainly wanted to talk and did not feel like listening to ridiculous banter.

“Hello there,” she purred out, her voice rich and delicate, like the rest of her tiny, lithe little frame. She shifted enough to bring her paws beneath her chest, so she was at least in a rather attentive sprawl.

“Oh, hello!”

Mjrn spat out as she spotted the other female. At first she was a little coy about talking but then her conversation skills kicked in and she spoke.

“I’ve never seen you around here before. Are you apart of this pride?”

She loved to talk and was thankful that this lioness spoke to her! Maybe she would make a new friend. Mjrn’s expression changed and soon she was smiling brightly.

“My name is Mjrn, what’s yours?”

Kiasi smiled wryly at the younger female, able to see that she was a little too energetic for her tastes. However, Kiasi really was trying to work on the ‘friendly’ thing so that once she met Kubwa’s son, she wouldn’t be too touchy. A lot depended on Tete liking her. She was sure Kubwa wouldn’t appreciate it as much if his new mate was disliked by his only son, or perhaps his rather odd mother. She was still under the belief that the lioness was partially crazy, even without ever meeting her.

“Oh yes, I’m a part of this pride,” she said with a smile, her tail flickering idly by her side. She glanced to it for a moment, staring with that curiosity that many cats exhibited when presented with such an action. However, she smirked and glanced back to her. “My mother was born here, but my father is a rogue. Still, I was born here as well. I just don’t get out much, all the cubs give me headaches.” She shrugged it off as if it were perfectly normal to dislike cubbies.

“My name is Kiasi’Nyota,” she said with a smile, pushing herself up a little from her lazy laying position. Her name was perhaps one of her favorite things about herself. ‘Little Star’, and named by her adoring older brother. She was spoiled beyond reason being that she was the only girl and the youngest to boot.

Mjrn smiled some and sat herself down.

“Yeah, cubs tend to do that.”

She was happy to talk to another female for once; all of her friends growing up had been boys after all. Her paws slowly rolled up against one another as she shifted her place for side to side before speaking.

“Kiasi’Nyota, it’s nice to meet you. I’m Mjrn.”

“The worst part is that my silly brother just found himself with a troop of little females,” she said with a little grimace, “And they all love to run and jump on their Auntie. I think he tells them to do it just to drive me crazy.” There was a weak smile, but it really did seem like she disliked cubs to a certain degree. Perhaps it would change with motherhood – but that was a long way off.

“It’s very nice to meet you too, Mjrn,” she said with a smile spreading across her maw. She was never good at making conversation with others, at least not right away, but she supposed she needed to learn how to be a little more social. What would Kubwa think if she was never able to talk to anyone for longer than a few minutes?

“So, do you have a lot of family around here?” she asked, rather randomly in fact. She didn’t know what you were supposed to talk about and this was the best she knew how to do.

“I have a big family. I am one of thirteen, I believe, I have lost track though. It’s been so long, I don’t see many of my siblings or parents… for that matter.”

She felt kind of upset thinking about her lack of family connections, but, than again, she was the oddball, she didn’t look like the rest of her family did, color wise. Tiling her head she spoke out softly.

“Your brother? Do you have any other siblings?”

She wondered.

“That’s too bad,” Kiasi said with a little frown on her mug – not a large one, but noticeable. She had always been around her siblings, and although most of her brothers had grown up and moved on with their lives, she still stayed at home with her father. She was the baby of the family and she’d leave in her own due time. Pretty soon, actually, if Kubwa had anything to do with it.

“Yes, I have five brothers,” she said with a little purr on her tongue, “my family isn’t very large but I really don’t think they could have handled anymore boys regardless.” She laughed at the thought of more brothers, pretty sure she herself was probably a bigger handful than all five of them combined. No need for her to know that, though.
