Let me tell you a little story about how I got into Soul Calibur:

Back in the day, I was at my friend James' house. He was showing me an awesome N64 game known as Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. I loved it, and borrowed it a few times from him. Later, on Christmas, my lovely parentals purchased for me a Gamecube, which, at the time, came with a free 4-in-1 game: the original Legend of Zelda, Legend of Zelda II, Ocarina of Time, and Majora's Mask. Didn't care too much for the first two, but I played the second two like a crazy person, and fell in love with the Zelda series. (I also received Super Smash Bros Melee for Christmas, but that's beside the point.)
Then, one day, while browsing the video game section of my local ShopKo, I happened upon a Gamecube game with a silhouette picture of its characters on the cover. One of them in particular caught my eye, and I thought, 'Hey that looks like Link,' but then I read the title of the game and took note of how it didn't include the words 'Legend of Zelda', so I completely disregarded the game, thinking, 'There's no way that could be Link.' Quite a few times after that I happened across that game and thought to myself, 'Man, that sure looks like Link.'
Later, I was surfing the webternet for random Legend of Zelda information, and learned that Link appeared in a non-Zelda game! Shocking! Link was a fighter in a mysterious game known as 'Soul Calibur II.' I decided that I must acquire that game and determine just what the hell Link's role was.
After a burning passion for Soul Calibur II blossomed, I made it a personal goal of mine to also acquire Soul Blade and Soul Calibur I, which I did. Then, in 2005, Soul Calibur III came out, which I had reserved and played for about twenty-five straight hours after getting it. Now all that remains is Soul Calibur Legends and Soul Calibur IV...
So, all in all, thank you James, for beginning the long chain of events that led to my beloved Ivy.

The End.

So... how did you get into Soul Calibur?

I got into the SC series with Soul Edge/Blade. It was one of my very first PS1 games and I fell in love at first sight. A few years later, I became ignorant of SC for the Dreamcast and did not play it until Soul Calibur II came out for the PS2. The rest is history. =O

I was over at a friend's house and they were playing Soul Caliber II for Gamecube. I tried it out and used Mitsurugi. I ended up kicking all of my friends asses except for one (he is really good with Nightmare). I never got to play it again... In the next year, I was back at that friend's house and he showed me Soul Caliber III. Since then I have been hooked, addicted, obsessed (you get the point right? blaugh ). I later discovered Ivy, whom instantly became my fav. character.

I lost my soul caliber virginity on the gamecube with scii at my cousins house but i never got my own gamecube so i had to get the playstation version of it and relearned the controls... i hate heihachi so much, he is hard to play as because he has tekken like buffering which doesn't work well with the other characters very loose buffering and i don't play games with strict buffering very well, if i wanted to play as heihachi i woulda bought tekken... i loved link but when i returned to my cousins house i had forgotten how to play and was being whooped by my younger brother, a total soul caliber newb... when soul caliber iii came out i got it for christmas and it was awesome, can't wait to get sciv...

Played Soulcalibur II with my friends, ended up being badly beaten. Then I soon grow to be a tough contender after hours of practice.

I picked up Soul Calibur 2 for my PS2...about two years after it came out. sweatdrop It quickly became my favorite game, and I started naming myself "iamsouledge" on forums and such. Not much more to tell, really.

Isn't it funny that we can trace the source of our SC love?

Before getting into Soul Calibur I was all over DDR (which I still love and suck at pretty bad). Then, on my nineteenth birthday after being leg-locked from playing so much DDR, my roommate pulled out Soul Calibur II which I got hooked onto with no time at all. After playing Soul Calibur III I can't break away from the game.
