yeah, from hearing all this about the differences between the two I would think Ness is a candidate for brawl

It would be very neat if Ness came back for brawl. Just imagine it as one of the missions: Toddler fight, Ness Vs. Lucas. Very interesting.

Whelp, I was wrong. Ness is out and Lucas is in. Lucas is the same thing as Ness, just a little different. Plus they say that "Ness was in Smash Bros until now"... Oh well...
I <3 Ness and I'll <3 Lucas even more.

Oh blah. It does seem like Ness is out with that "There’s a character named Ness who has appeared in the Smash Bros. series up until now" thing.
I'll still hope for Ness, though! I don't wanna see the original 12 broken up!

It does seem like Ness is out. Looking at the move set, they're too similar. The only differences I see are the air moves and, instead of having PK Pulse, Lucas has PK Freeze, which is probably the same thing just with a chance of freezing whomever it hits. I did notice that Lucas's PSI Magnet is in front of him, not surrounding him like Ness's did.
Overall, no big deal, although it is a little dissappointing to see that Ness may be out. Who knows, they may throw him back in. Only time will tell. In the mean time, I'm still hoping for Luigi and Mewtwo to return.

Lucas's PK Ice is Ness's PK Flash with an additional freeze ability. Ness is out, plain and simple. The funny thing about all of this is that Lucas doesn't even have any of these moves in Mother3 (see above Move list for proof). I, honestly, think that Ness will be an alternate costume for Lucas.
