I've been asking this question alot lately. Why do we care whether homosexuality is a sin or not? Either way, it is forgiven through Christ. Why do we care whether evolution is right or wrong? If it's right, does that disprove the bible? No. If it's wrong, does that prove the Bible? No. Will either faction stop believing in what they believe in just because we "prove" it? No. It's irrevalent. I think that as a society we are focusing on the wrong things. We should be thinking about the poor people in Africa who are thin not because they want to be, but because they can't find anything to eat; we should care about the parents who come home to a dead daughter and a suicide note; we should care about the people who beat themselves up everyday because they were abused by their parents; we should not care about the politicians, the evolution/creation argument, or the homosexuality argument. I hope you actually take at least two seconds to comprehend and think about this, because if you don't, you obviously don't care about the right things.

You know, I think this is the biggest piece of truth I've encountered since joining the guild. I think what people focus more on is God's telling us to "go and make disciples of all nations" and that only by pointing out the sin can we show them some "tough love" and invite them into our circle. You know what? Judgement isn't ours to pass. God says that's his. And I'm about to let someone who knows a heck of a lot more about any given situation than me make those decisions. We need to forget about the "tough" and just show the love.

Why do we care? Because evolution is a lie. Point blank. This lie of evolution leads people AWAY from Christ! What does God say about that you ask? Mark 9:42 "And if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a large millstone tied around his neck." Want to know what that means? You are a "little one" I am a "little one" ervery single person in the world, young old, enfant or senior is a "little one" in this verse. God is saying that ANYONE who causes one of his followers to sin or stray from the path that is right, would be better off killing himself by means of drowning. Not any type of drowning, tieing a milstone around his/her neck and casting him/her self into the sea. Milstone: Puts a different perspective on things huh? And yes we should care about the evolution/homosexuality controversities. What does evolution teach? That you came from nothing, That you are nothing, and that you are GOING TO BE NOTHING! It teaches that we are all animals just trying to get by in a survival of the fittest world, never to be given a seccond thought. Doesnt that just give you hope? No wonder the suacide rates are UP! No one knows they have a loving Father in Heaven who CREATED them for a purpose! Now that youve read all this, do you want to hear about homosexuality? 1st of all homosexuality is a sin. That should be all i have to say. But human nature wants to challange God's Word. It is pittiful that jr high and high school these days are being suffercated with the whole "getting to know your inner self" and to "find the truth within". the question is do they even know what truth is? But im beside the point. Because Chritianity has been pushed out the back door in todays culture, humanism has taken the torch, and is reaking havok. When i talk to my homosexual friends all i hear is a life of sadness, desparation and loneliness. As one of Christ's followers we should help these lost childen and lead them to Christ. Finally imagine at the end of time. You standing before the Father in heaven. When He askes you "What about the lie of evolution?" and " What about you lost homosexual brothers and sisters?" What will you say? Those arent sins father. They arent problems, so i did nothing. In foresight you end up being the one who leads the "little ones" astray. I know i wouldent want to stand before God ALMIGHTY and say what is and isnt a sin.

Not any type of drowning, tieing a milstone around his/her neck and casting him/her self into the sea. (I deleted the image of the milestone because of page stretching. You also take the Bible wayyyyyyy to literely(sp?))Puts a different perspective on things huh? And yes we should care about the evolution/homosexuality controversities. What does evolution teach? That you came from nothing, That you are nothing, and that you are GOING TO BE NOTHING! It teaches that we are all animals just trying to get by in a survival of the fittest world, never to be given a seccond thought. That was a very biased opinion and is what most Christians think about it. They haven't been taught anything else. Quote: Doesnt that just give you hope? No wonder the suacide rates are UP! No one knows they have a loving Father in Heaven who CREATED them for a purpose! So, the only reason that teenagers commit suicide is because of evolution? Quote: Now that youve read all this, do you want to hear about homosexuality? 1st of all homosexuality is a sin. That should be all i have to say. I already covered this - Why should we care? It's going to be forgiven anyways if your a Christian. If it is a sin, and they aren't a Christian, then is it just that sin that drove them to Hell? Quote: But human nature wants to challange God's Word. It is pittiful that jr high and high school these days are being suffercated with the whole "getting to know your inner self" and to "find the truth within". the question is do they even know what truth is? Not really. Most kids don't even care. But forget that. They've probably heard all about the Bible and God from people like you - People who condem people right off the bat, saying, "YOU"RE GOING TO HELL!!!! YOUR A HOMOSEXUAL, YOUR A HOMOSEXUAL (capitalized to show shouting)!!!!" Would you want to follow a God who, from their point of view, tells his followers to say and believe that? Quote: But im beside the point. Exactly. That doesn't seem to be what you're doing, though. It seems that all you are doing is condemming them, not welcoming them for who they are. Quote: Finally imagine at the end of time. You standing before the Father in heaven. When He askes you "What about the lie of evolution?" and " What about you lost homosexual brothers and sisters?" The "when" should be replaced with an "it". You don't know that's what he'll say. He could say this: "Why, UnfaithfulBeans (for lack of your real name)? Why did you condem all of them instead of being accepting?" Quote: What will you say? Those arent sins father. They arent problems, so i did nothing. What will you say? That's what you told me to do father. You said they are bad, so I condemmed the bad. Quote: In foresight you end up being the one who leads the "little ones" astray. Right back at ya. Quote: I know i wouldent want to stand before God ALMIGHTY and say what is and isnt a sin. I know I wouldn't want to stand before God Almighty and say that I lost all of those people I could have converted because I condemmed them to Hell.

Lethkhar Geez...Some merciful God... eek Accually yes. You have probabbly heard this a million times, but he sent his SON, to take OUR plases on the Cross, instread of watching us, His childen cry out in pain for all the ways we have wronged him, he forgave us. He sent His son, and said "Your sins are forgiven" - Matthew 9:5. How much for forgiving can you get? Lethkhar Do you think that'll convince people? By threatening them? When did i theaten them? The truth is, homosexuals know that God has placed rules over such behavior. So they make presuppositions about all Christans and Christ Follewers. I have several comments about your argument:
1. Spelling. I can hardly understand what you are saying.
2. Evolution does not equal evolving from "lifeless goo." please try to be more educated on what you are debating.
3. Please show me where in the bible it condones having homosexual attractions, not homosexual activity.
4. You say that you should set an example for others and lead them to Christ. Yet, you continually condem them for there beliefs and ultimately drive them away from the cross.
I'm not going to respond fully to your argument, as it is Lethkar you are responding to. I wanted to clear a few things up for you.

Here are my replies:
1. Many people say that. And i have one reply. Ill try harder if you do.
2. I have. In fact reading up on the therory or evolution is one of my past times. I know many of its flaws, and the fact that darwin wasnt even convinced himself.
3. How long do you have? In the Bible adultry goes hand in had with homosexuality. So almost every verse you read about aldultery, is in fact, abou homosexuality. Here is a very good one -Matthew 5:28 "You know the next commandment pretty well, too: 'Don't go to bed with another's spouse.' But don't think you've preserved your virtue simply by staying out of bed. Your heart can be corrupted by lust even quicker than your body. Those leering looks you think nobody notices—they also corrupt. "
4.Name one time i condemmed them.
PS: Thank you, for saying I take the bible too sireously, that is a DIVINE atribute.

I'm going to respond to the main point of this thread and not immediately get dragged into a long, meticulous debate with a bigoted dullard. First, I half-agree with you. I think that helping starving, abused and otherwise miserable is a good thing. Very little (in fact, nothing really jumps to mind) is more important than saving lives. Being the odd person that I am, I'm more of a thinker than a sympathetic person, I find the truth extremely important. It matters a lot whether evolution is right or whether homosexuality is sin, because there is a truth for all of these things. They might be personal truths or greater truths. I've made my mind up about a lot of things, but when you discover a truth (at least for me) it feels good. Less of life is a mystery. Truth-seeking is a life-long quest, and I don't believe that anyone else's truth can suffice and I don't think that there is "a truth" like the meaning of life. There's only many small truths. I hope this made sense. Edit: I was too offended by this not to respond Quote: 2. I have. In fact reading up on the theory or evolution is one of my past times. I know many of its flaws, and the fact that Darwin wasn't even convinced himself. First, prove Darwin didn't buy it, using quotes in context and supply sources. Even if he didn't believe, it means almost nothing. Then, I'd like a convincing case that evolution is not true, from a biological perspective. If you can convince me, thank you, you will have just opened my eyes, but I sincerely doubt that. Oh, and it's not the fact that evolution is widespread that raises suicide rates, it's people telling them that evolution involves them being worthless rags. I'd rather be fantastically evolved than be deluded into thinking that God tossed me onto the earth because he was lonely. I won't go on more, because I'm ranting, and no one wants to read that.

UnfaithfulBeans Why do we care? Because evolution is a lie. Point blank. This lie of evolution leads people AWAY from Christ! What does God say about that you ask? Please prove that evolution leads people away from Christ. Quote: And yes we should care about the evolution/homosexuality controversities. What does evolution teach? That you came from nothing, That you are nothing, and that you are GOING TO BE NOTHING! Actually, it teaches us the methods God used to create us. It teaches us the train of events that led up to our creation. It teaches us that we are the highest product of evolution thus far, and it teaches us that in orderto survive, we must be all that we can be. On a more literal level, it teaches us we came from Apes. I don't know about you, but I prefer the thought of coming from apes to the thought of coming from dirt. Quote: It teaches that we are all animals just trying to get by in a survival of the fittest world, never to be given a seccond thought. Doesnt that just give you hope? Actually, it does give me hope; knowing that my species has survived thus far, I am filled with confidence that I can prolong that survival. It also fills me with awe that such a being capable of creating such a complex and myriad-faceted world exists. Quote: No wonder the suacide rates are UP! No one knows they have a loving Father in Heaven who CREATED them for a purpose! Of course, suicide rates could also be up because of the increasing hatefulness of the most powerful group in the civilised world, Christianity. Or, it could be up because of the increasing amount of mind-altering chemicals used in global trade. Or, it could be up because of the increasing availability of weapons commonly used in suicides, such as pills and guns. Quote: Now that youve read all this, do you want to hear about homosexuality? 1st of all homosexuality is a sin. That should be all i have to say. Well, you also have to prove exactly WHY homosexuality is a sin, taking into account both science and God's infinite love. Quote: But human nature wants to challange God's Word. It is pittiful that jr high and high school these days are being suffercated with the whole "getting to know your inner self" and to "find the truth within". the question is do they even know what truth is? Probably not; that's what college is for. High school is far too religious for my tastes. ^-^ Quote: But im beside the point. Because Chritianity has been pushed out the back door in todays culture, humanism has taken the torch, and is reaking havok. Christianity, wreaking, havoc. Humanism is not, in fact, bad; on the contrary, it is a commendable philosophy. Have you never heard of Christian Humanism? Quote: When i talk to my homosexual friends all i hear is a life of sadness, desparation and loneliness. I am homosexual. I am, for the most part, happy. I LOVE to learn more about God, and I am ecstatic that I am Christian; however, when I am around other Christians outside of a formal church setting, I am not happy. Being rejected by other Christians for my homosexuality has left me bitter, lonely, desperate for God's love to show itself here on Earth. Perhaps it is not their homosexuality that causes them to be depressed and lonely, but rather your condemnation of who they are. Quote: As one of Christ's followers we should help these lost childen and lead them to Christ. From what I've read of your beliefs, I am more of the mind that YOU need to be led to Christ. Quote: Finally imagine at the end of time. You standing before the Father in heaven. When He askes you "What about the lie of evolution?" and " What about you lost homosexual brothers and sisters?" neutral So, God cares more about homosexuality than about, say, adultery? or maybe idolatry? Heresy, debauchery, murder and violence, sexual abuse, thievery? Isn't he just as likely to ask you why you didn't "save" that high school senior who got drunk at parties every weekend, or that girl you met in college who was wiccan, or your boss, who was sleeping with your coworker's wife, or your kleptomaniac friend from that weight watchers group? Quote: What will you say? Those arent sins father. They arent problems, so i did nothing. I will say that I did everything in my power to convince my lost homosexual brothers and sisters that, gay or not, You still loved them, regardless of what other Christians said. As for evolution, I'll bring a copy of The Origin of Species with me. ^-^ Quote: When did i theaten them? The truth is, homosexuals know that God has placed rules over such behavior. So they make presuppositions about all Christans and Christ Follewers. neutral Yes, God HAS placed rules over such behaviour, such as "only in marriage". As for "No ghey", he's said nothing of the sort; Christians have developed that out of their own prejudice. Quote: Yes it does. evolution teaches that you game from lifeless goo. Makes you want to radiate brilliance huh? As versus..... oh yeah. Dirt. Quote: First of all, the siratual development you are talkignabout is trough humanism. Sorry, I've never heard of trough humanism. Perhaps if you tried a spell-checker? Quote: A COMPLETLY athistic religion. As a Christion or follower or Christ i would take anythin a humanst would say with many many grains of salt. And as a Christian Humanist, I would be very disappointed that you consider a philosophical belief worthy cause to ignore logic presented by a person. Quote: - 2 Peter 2:1"But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves." See? God even warned us. So STAY ALERT! neutral Right. Quote: 2cd Im not religious nor am i spiritual. I am a Follower of Christ, there is a compleat differance. As a follower of Christ i LIVE by the Bible, FOLLOW Christ's examples & words and NEVER, i repeat, NEVER conform. Except, of course, to the societal standards and stereotypes expected of Christians. =D But hey, you were close! Quote: - Philippians 2:5 Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus Jesus was liberal, by the way. ^-^ Quote: Cheeful, happy, flamboyant? But are you satified? Are you full? Are you saying you can be joyful trough those tough time that just make you want to sceam and run? I could argue with you all day about this, but i wount. What i will do is pray for you. neutral Wow. Yes, I am satisfied and full. Yes, I can remain joyful through tough times. No, I do not need your prayer. Quote: 1. Many people say that. And i have one reply. Ill try harder if you do. Except for the occasional typo, we are using correct spelling. It is only courteous to do us the same favour. Quote: 2. I have. In fact reading up on the therory or evolution is one of my past times. I know many of its flaws, and the fact that darwin wasnt even convinced himself. Darwin never recanted; that is a myth, spread by Creationists. Darwin was actually Christian all his life. Furthermore, this is just an appeal to Authority; even if Darwin HAD recanted, that would not remove the validity of the theory itself. Quote: 3. How long do you have? In the Bible adultry goes hand in had with homosexuality. So almost every verse you read about aldultery, is in fact, abou homosexuality. o_o Whose a** did you pull THAT out out of? Quote: Here is a very good one -Matthew 5:28 "You know the next commandment pretty well, too: 'Don't go to bed with another's spouse.' But don't think you've preserved your virtue simply by staying out of bed. Your heart can be corrupted by lust even quicker than your body. Those leering looks you think nobody notices—they also corrupt. " How exactly is that ACTUALLY about homosexuality?! Quote: PS: Thank you, for saying I take the bible too sireously, that is a DIVINE atribute. Perhaps it is, but taking the Bible too LITERALLY is not. We must keep in mind context. ALWAYS context. Without context, the Bible is worthless.

Moving on to the main point.
I care about whether or not homosexuality is a sin, because it is unchangeable. I know that homosexuality is not a sin, and I find it disgusting that Christians will try to convince people that something proven to be biological is wrong in the eyes of God. Convincing people that homosexuality is wrong does not lead to more Christians. It leads to three groups:
Group 1: Nihilists. This group believes that since they are condemned anyways, they might as well do whatever they want while they still can. This is disgusting because Christians, in trying to save "sinners" have actually CREATED sinners!
Group 2: Ex-Gays. This group believes that with the power of God, they can become straight. This is disgusting because it has been repeatedly shown that ex-gay therapy does not work, and is psychologically harmful; Christians, even though they know of these effects, are still telling people to do this, and they create broken spirits, people who give up God, feeling depressed and rejected by the one person they thought would always love them; they cannot see that he DOES.
Group 3: Suicides. Ten thousand gay and bi Christian teenagers commit suicide each year because they believe homosexuality is a sin against god. This is downright hateful of Christians, to cause this, having all the evidence that homosexuality is impossible to change. If I thought God hated homosexuality, I would be in this group; I know that I cannot change, and I love God, and do not want to be sinning.
I debate homosexuality to save homosexuals from being put into one of these three groups. Not to convince YOU that you're wrong; I know that will never happen. I debate to convince the people who actually matter that you're wrong.

UnfaithfulBeans Here are my replies: 1. " 4.Name one time i condemmed them. PS: Thank you, for saying I take the bible too sireously, that is a DIVINE atribute. First off, I want to thank all of these people for supporting me. Thanks. Now, lets get down to business. 1. My spelling is near perfect. 2. Still, be more scientific about it. Say that we evolved from "prokaryotes", not "lifeless goo". 3. If you are going to make a point, quote the actual verse, don't twist it to fit your meaning. Matthew 5:28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. That says nothing about homosexuality. You still haven't proven to me that the bible condones homosexual feelings, not activity. 4. UnfaithfullBeans Why do we care? There's one for you.
