I am doing the fastest possible review of Saawariya's music because I am doing a Bollywood essay for my English class smile I can't go too into depth, but I'll say I enjoy it a lot! BollyGirl gave me the Saawariya promo and I enjoyed it so much, I listened to the entire album.
I have to say, it's a typical SLB soundtrack. He did Devdas and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, right? All of the depressing music! I'm a little bit bummed that the title song wasn't longer... but what can you do, right? None of the songs are reaching over the six mark (Jaan-E-Jaan being 5:59--sneaky!), but sometimes that's okay.
Sawar Gayi: in the beginning, I could have sworn I was listening to the beginning of Silsila Ye Chaahat Ka/Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. I had to take a break to listen to my songs from Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, actually.
A lot of them are just... so depressing. I imagine this will be like Devdas a lot--the only cheery song of that bunch was pretty much Chalak Chalak, huh? It'll definitely be a tear-jerker movie, but when has one of SLB's movies not done that?
Recommend, definitely, if only for the title song.

AAAH my new favorite movie to obsess about, Saawariya biggrin
Okay, so when I first heard Saawariya, I INSTANTLY loved it. I was like "what is this movie? I need to find out more!" and from there I went into that spiraling frenzy of changing my profile and such.
Then I thought "well there is a whole album!" and looked it up and listened to most every song except Pari which somehow I never got too idk how I missed it D:
Anyways, after listening to them the first time (besides the title track) I thought they were too classical for me and too old-style and I was let down. HOWEVER, after I listened to them, trailers came out, I saw the movie, I can now say I love all the ones in the movie (sorry Sawar Gayi and Dars Bina Nahin Chain). AND I was shocked when I saw Pari, the second song in the movie, because I had never heard it before and WOW I loved it so much. It's second to Saawariya, although somehow equally as good. biggrin
Overall, I love the whole album and yes I'm biased it's because I loved the movie.
HOWEVER, I can honestly say I HATED (that's a little strong but just to serve as contrast) other SLB soundtracks and his other movies weren't in my favorites either. At least this one had, dare I say it, a pop feel if not a more modern so bolly girl enjoys it-feel? haha
Oh and I definitely like it more than OSO's soundtrack! I don't find the songs depressing! I don't get how u see that. I mean the 2 songs not in the movie sound emo enough but I don't like those anyways x D.
Pari is powerfully [over]dramatic and I love the high notes the guy hits with his "oooh OOOOHH"s haha. I'd say my list would go like:
1. Saawariya & Saawariya Reprise 2. Pari 3. Masha Allah 4. Jab Se Tere Naina 5. Yoon Shabnami 6. Chabeela 7. Jaan-E-Jaan 8. Thode Badmash 9. Sawar Gayi 10.Dars Bina Nahin Chain And that's just relying on audio, not video. Otherwise Thode Badmash would be higher on the list since the vid. is cute smile
Um. everything past number 3 and up until 9 can basically be a tie so don't diss the list xD.
Ooh I'd also like to say that the signature Saawariya whistle is very cool and mysterious. I love it! Too cool of a tune hehe love it.
