All I can say is use photo references.

I know it's not the same angle, but just look at the hand placement. The ones in your drawing are wrongly placed.

Hmm... besides that, I'm currently too lazy to red line. ;p

It also doesn't help that I don't really know much about Violins.

... don't you mean a c natural? and I've never seen a right handed violin before in all my 12 years of playing. I don't see anything wrong with the proportion, although the head seems wrong. I don't have the time to redline it now, but if you leave this thread open, I'll do one Saturday. It's a very nice idea by the way. biggrin

sure i would love one~ i know about the right hand. me and me friend both have one major thing in common with our left arms, in our left hand nerve problems and we can barely use force or pressure, and cant move our wrist, Wel she was a little kid and before i knew her, her grandfather made her this special violin on the condition she plays it a little. The stain work on it really beautiful! c natural you say...well i was close, i dont know the string i was just going by ear! and what i hear. but if thats a c natural thank you for correcting me!

Hmm... sorry if I sounded like an a**. Didn't mean to be all "blah blah" and all.

Anyway, let's see... Well the dragon and the character don't seem to fit very well together.

Is the dragon just a background sketch or actually part of th drawing?

Cause if it is part of the drawing, you'd want to give it the same perspective and angle as the violin player.

As for the character it's self... The pose is great, maybe just work on your head more.

Hmmm....

It'd be kind of neat to give the head a tilt towards the audience.

Or... following your angle...

There was a slight few small problems.

Actually I could be terribly wrong. *Shrugs* I'm just trying to help so don't feel offended by anything I say.

if i thought you were being an a**, i would of said so! No i didn't see you as being an a**. yes the dragon is part of the drawing, but the way he going to be colored in the image is im not telling. he planned in there but how he comes out is a secret!

now for the first idea is a good one but there is one small problem! - her hair would be on the strings (not good i hear)

the secand one is about what im looking for~

I'm actually not the best myself when it comes to perspective, but here's an attempt:

The main thing I did was make the curves a little bit... sharper? Since you have to keep in mind that this PoV will make everything look a little bit squashed.

I haven't played viola is years now, but I think the instrument should be resting more on the shoulder than your picture implies, so I shifted the shoulder/arm slightly. Don't take my word for it if you don't want to XD;; Again, I haven't played in years, and my memory's hazy.

As for the violin, there is space between the violin and the shoulder because of a shoulder rest. Not using one hurts... biggrin ; and the head will always be slightly tilted because the chin rest cradles the side of your jaw close to the chin, so for those of us with long hair, we tend to pull it back. I put a reference picture in there that I hope will help. I actually think my red lines are off, such as the shoulder I drew in being too far from the jaw. Normally, one should be able to hold a violin with only their jaw and shoulder, so it's a bit like squeezing, if that helps. Sorry I didn't do much, had to squeeze this in between chores last night and I only saved a jpg!

I hope I helped... and sorry for butchering your dragon; I couldn't help it. biggrin
