October Contest - Writing
Since we've only had one brave submission, there is no need to vote to determine the winner. I give you... LeitaKree, from Limbo!
LeitaKree
Once upon a time, there was a little girl whose only aspiration in life was to have the child of the man she loved.
This little girl grew up, fell in love, and got married over the years. Her husband was a good, kind man, and she was madly in love with him. However, one night, he fell extremely ill and died. The girl was heartbroken, but she still had her dream; if she was pregnant with his child, she would be happy.
However, a few weeks later, the girl had her period, and she sank deep into despair.
She was so enveloped in grief that she began looking into sorcery as a way to achieve her dream; she pored over ancient books of Alchemy, unrolled dusty scrolls of Egyptian magic, and visited the supposed witch that lived outside of town. However, nothing seemed to work.
Time passed and the girl sunk deeper and deeper into her insanity, cursing the gods as each spell failed to bring back her lost love. She felt she was getting close, however... She heard his voice, one night, as she cast a spell given to her by the witch.
One dark winter night, the girl cast a powerful spell that the witch had given her, hoping that it would work. Unfortunately, her hopes were realized.
Her lost love appeared within the pentagram she had traced upon the floor in her own blood, pale as death and very, very upset. "My love, my love, why have you summoned me?" he moaned.
"I'm lonely." The girl said sadly, "and I was hoping to bring you back."
"My dear, you have sinned to bring me here." Her lover whispered, extending his arms. "You do not belong here anymore. To me, my love."
Heedless of the danger, the girl rose and entered the pentragram. Her lost love embraced her, and the two floated into the air, away from the dusty study, away from the world.
The next morning, the girl's family found her body, unnaturally thin and stiff. When the law came to assess the scene, they found that she died of a broken heart.

Myths are all about stories, and navigating through stories is a vital skill to any lover of myths. Therefore, for our first contest you must write a scary story using elements from a mythic pantheons. The contest is approached in two different ways, depending on whether you have chosen a pantheon or are unaffiliated (also called in Limbo).
Affiliated:
arrow Use elements from your pantheon.
arrow Determine one story to be submitted on behalf of your Pantheon. You may do this by writing a collaborative story or by writing individual stories and deciding among them.
arrow Once you have chosen your story, PM it to me (the Herald), with your pantheon in the subject line.
In Limbo:
arrow Use elements from any pantheon not covered by a forum. (Norse, Egyptian, Hindu, Native American, etc)
arrow PM it to me (the Herald) with "Limbo" in the subject line.
On October 25th28th, the Pantheon stories and the one or two best Limbo stories (determined by me) will be posted in the Guild for voting.
Prize: 2000 gold, and possibly a small item.
All members of the winning pantheon will share the prize.
Remember: Stories should be well written, creative, and give the reader a nice Halloween shiver.
