It wasn't really bad, but I wasn't expecting it. The fic is "Beautiful World" by Cinnamon. (you can google it, because I don't feel like giving the link.. also, it's in the Mast Fic List thread under Harry/Draco) Cinnamon wrote it so well. She gave me the impression that a character wouldn't die (even up to the very end! The character that dies and another character spend the whole night telling eachother that it won't happen!), and then she turned around and killed him off at the end! I was like, "Aw, hell no!" because it was just that good. I think she used a very good technique by giving her readers this false hope for 95% of the story, and then screwing them in the face at the very end. I know that it made alot of people cry.. Sorry if I totally spoiled the ending ^^; It'll probably rip your heart out anyway, though..

*is feeling awkward* Actually, I rather enjoy it when characters die as long as it done for a reason. I'm sadistic that way, I think, but I do enjoy that rather intense sadness. That is how I judge if my stories are written well. If people cry when they read my stories, then I have done my job. Otherwise, I consider the story a waste of my time. Probably why I like Regulus so much. So many different ways to write the same death... sweatdrop I am sooooooooooo wierd.

Extra points if it's a character I like, and if it makes me cry mrgreen

La Mort de Madame Nuu! You really like the death of Draco? gonk crying Well.. It's kind of good, if a fic makes you cry. It isn't so much the fact that I want the character (especially if it's my favorite) to die, and this is probably what the author is thinking, too, but it's more along the lines of me wanting to have a good cry (it's probably some mental problem). It's one of the marks of a good writer, in my opinion, being able to do that to your readers-- not only would you need skill in describing things (like death scenes), but you also need to have loads of character development (yes, it does exist in fanfiction, even though the characters are technically already developed.. you still need to bring your readers into your story, you see).

Not Draco speciffically. I just enjoy angst in general. The more angst and the more in character that angst is, the better. (Out of character angst sucks royally though).

I don't like it when they cut themselves for little to no reason, though.. that's annoying.. And when they transform into goth kids! That's unbelievably annoying. I read a fic once where Harry started to wear eyeliner and fishnet gonk

eek OC! OC! *hides*
redface Sorry, I can't help it. The fun of writing fan fiction is to get the characters to do what you want while keeping them in character. That's the way I see it, anyway.

But this fic had no good death scene at all! All it was, was BAM! They spent a lovely night together and they kissed eachother good bye then....then the next day Dumbledore was like "Sorry kids Draco Malfoy is dead...and in other news..." ...yea! Just like that! gonk
