Where did this come from? I was looking at the forums before I joined, to get an idea of what the guild was like, and saw something about oranges being vegetables. What?

It's the reasoning used by "some" people.

It's a reeeaaaallly old reference to a point in the debate where a Pro-Choicer adamantly claimed that oranges were vegetables. Since then, it's sort of been used to mock anyone who makes stupid arguments, or just uses bad logic. Or just to jokingly jab at Pro-Choicers in general about their logic.

Tsk tsk tsk... it's the reason we don't go to the ED debate topic anymore.

It's from two years ago. 2005. So I don't know why I still use it xd
Someone argued with me that I couldn't call a fetus a child because a born youngster is a child and that would mean I'd have to call a fetus a toddler, and that's not true! I pointed out that an orange is a fruit and an apple is a fruit, but an orange isn't an apple.
So she said that an orange is a vegetable, which I admit, completely won that argument for her! Or not...
It's just silliness, really.
