So I learned in class that its good to eat some carbohydrates/sugars within the first 20 minutes of working out, and within the rest of the 40 minutes as well. It helps replenish the glucose in your muscles, the sugars/energy for your muscles, and also may add to it. I hear this also works with protein to help you bulk up. The 20 minutes post or after exercise is the best. 40 minutes still has effects as well.

That's true. Your cells convert the glucose into energy; diabetes comes from the cells having trouble managing the gloucose levels, for whatever reasons. Carbs are also a form of energy, both simple and complex (the latter being the better).
