If you're like me, and I know many of you are, you enjoy reading. Not only that, but you're always looking for new things to read. So I've created a place for everyone to put up what they're reading, what they've recently finished, old favorites, reviews, etc. Anything book related. The only thing I ask is that folks not knock what others may enjoy - intelligent discussions are encouraged, trashing things you don't like is not.

Tektek A Muse!

Does this have anything to do with books? No. Is it mildly entertaining? Oh yes. Plus, I like it when folk tek me. xd

Here's my inventory. I may decide to host some sort of contest, but right now it's just for people to play with if they so desire.

Didn't like Choke? XP
I loved Palahniuk for Fight Club and still a bit after Lullaby, but after reading Choke.. I'm like, okay, dude. Time to get a new main character.

I wouldn't say I didn't like Choke, but it was so....hideously depressing. It's really the problem I have with Palahniuk's stuff. Everything he's written makes me want to curl up in the dark and never leave my room again. Especially Survivor. I did like Fight Club, though....

Really? I'm just getting sick of him using the same repetitive stylizations and character types. I realize it's his style, but I think he may have been better off taking the Harper Lee route and not writing anything other than Fight Club to preserve his image. xd

The last book I read, that I wouldn't say was either very good or very bad, but worth reading if you can find it at a library, was A Madman Dreams of Turing Machines by Janna Levin.

Um. Historical fiction. Takes two mathematician/scientists, or one's one and the other's the other, whatever, takes some stuff that's known about their lives and then adds fake bits for the story. Interspersed with little bits of narration.

I have only read Invisible Monsters but I haven't read any of his others. But I really liked that book. It was something I wouldn't normally read.

I've got Invisible Monsters sitting on my desk, borrowed from a friend. I have to decompress a bit from the other Palahniuk stuff first before I can read it, though.
