I don't know... I use fire and I still die pretty easy. Then again, maybe if my heroes didn't try to tank all the time...

Nothing you said is really an impressive fight. Try using a Fire Ele against real foe's and see how you do

Fire elementalists are powerful yes, but they lack in defence. They can die a lot easyer then some other classes.

My main is a fire elementalist, and against all the foes you've listed, yeah, it's pretty good.
But from my experiences with them they are super low on defense. And that can tend to suck hard when you're trying to take on a large group with a few level 28's in it. You have to be careful and sometimes picking off monsters takes a lot of time.
But that's me. I generally play alone with nothing but heroes and henchmen. And they have no brains really. So on top of having to constantly make sure they don't run off and pull a crapton of monsters by themselves, they are mostly protectors and tanks, with a Necro for the Blood Ritual skill, just to keep me alive.
So they're alright, and they are my favorite class because of the damage they can deal, but otherwise it really sucks when you're up against high level enemies. In Eye of the North, my going has been pretty slow.

I at least change ele build, when ever I'm in a mission with more than one ele. Fire is all about combat. Earth is about weakening and protecting yourself. Water is more about slowing them down. Air is like fire, but not as powerful. I personally enjoy Earth and fire.
If you're an E/R you can set yourself up for a trapper build, or a build made just for your character. They're both very powerful.

I personally use Fire & Air. I'm with you for changing up my build when there's already a Fire Ele. In combo with a Fire Ele, my favorite is Water

Fire eles are good when fighting a mass of enemies, only if you're not being attacked. Due to lack of DEF you'll get KO'ed easy. Not to mention Exhaust. Try fighting some REAL monsters, and see how ur build holds up.
((although, an Ele is no match for my N/Me SS/Domination build. Mix SS with Backfire [not to mention other spike-on-skill-use skills] and an Ele can kill themselves in no time flat [this excludes Earth eles. Darn Obsidian Flesh...]))

As much as I love nuking masses of enemies in maps, and players in ABing, It's just so hard not to die more than once. Djinn's haste helps to get away, but other than that those sins always seems to pin you up against a wall..
Yes, the exhaustion gets very frustrating when using the earth build. It's so annoying, let alone how slow your energy regenerates.. Oh gawds... So annoying..

I'm surprised I don't see as many mesmers in AB. They're always effective counters against pyromancers.

zadorik13 water eles can be stronger but it depens on 2cndry domokun Put eight points into fire and use Glyph of Immolation if you aren't using any other glyphs. It makes for a really nice water or air spike.
