Welcome to my showroom. This is my 1993 Volvo 940 Turbo Estate. It has over 186K miles and it still looks and drives superb. The last time this car had a major breakdown was last October when the battery went dead right before school, then after we replaced that the coolant temp. sensor died, and after we replaced THAT we had to replace the mass airflow sensor (the costliest of the bunch). Thank heaven it stopped there! Not to mention, I'm glad I was able to do all of this myself! Can you imagine what those pill-pushers at the Volvo dealership would have charged me if I let them work on THIS PROBLEM?! I think it's been a good long year since that has happened. The last repair I did to it was recharging the AC. It still needs new shocks, though. I'm not going to try doing this myself even though it will cost hundreds of dollars at a garage. This Volvo is a great car mechanically. Electrically, not so great. The dome light doesn't want to work anymore, the sunroof opens but won't close, and there's some problem with the taillamps that's really annoying the hell out of me. Not to mention, this car still epitomizes the Volvo philosophy of safety. I've hit a guardpost once, got hit in the rear by an AT&T van, and both of these incidents left virtually NO DAMAGE, and I'm not lying about this. Don't laugh at me, but I've been so impressed with this Volvo that I want to take the time now to restore it and turn it into a "non-stretch limousine." I believe that if I move the front seats up just enough, add in some curtains and a small refreshment cabinet, and set the price just right, I believe it can compete with the Silver Shadows that are used in many other area limousine businesses. Feel free to talk about this car however you wish. Praise it, insult it, doesn't matter. However, please justify your insults and not make them particularly to my car. Thanks for visiting.

I've liked these cars for a while. If I could find one down here I would've bought one. I think it would be great to turn it into a speed machine. Imagine the looks of Boy-racer types when a large old family wagon, is not only keeping up with them, but passing them like they where looking for parking. mrgreen
Gotta ask, is your car a manual or auto?

It's an automatic. I forgot to mention, the engine is a 2.3L 4 cylinder. With the Turbocharger, it cranks about 164hp (compared to 114hp for non-turbos).
Heh, it would be sooo sweet to turn this into a speed deamon. Probably if I had the money to do that I would put in the 311hp V8 that's in the new S80. Also, it would have a bumper sticker that would say: "How does it feel to be beaten BY A WAGON?!"
Thanks for your comments!

That would be hilarious. But believe me, it is possible. I stomped this rich boy and his 2005 Ram 1500 in a 2000 Chrystler Grand Voyager...that a minivan. HAHAHAHA!!!! He was so shocked! You should have seen his face. I gave up on him before the 1/4 mile mark. Poor rich boy. The limo idea would be awesome. Don't for get to make it to where you can't here the horny little high schoolers in the back.

This Volvo will fly at 70 (I got a speeding ticket for doing that!) Not to mention, I love it when rednecks try to pass me. I make sure I keep them in their place! twisted As for the horny little high schoolers on prom night, I have a cost-effective solution that is GUARANTEED to work. It's called a night stick and "Don't make me go back there!" I can't afford those cool partitions that open and close and can keep even a nuclear bomb contained. So, with the money I've got, this is the best I can afford for now.

HAHAHA!!! Beat them with a night stick!! HAHAHAHA!!! I used to love driving fast. 3/4 of my tickets have been for 85 in 60 or worse. I passed two cops doing 120 in a 60. The dude I was with was white-faced and ready to s**t his pants. He thought we were so busted. So did I for that matter. I looked at it this way, I had to go 30 miles, run into my school, then head 30 miles back to my auto-tech class in 10 minutes. If I remember right i was just a few minutes late. Either way, it was a blast.

That sounds like FUN!!! ...even though that sounds like something that'll take a miracle to talk out of getting a ticket for. Were you able to bring down the charges on that ticket, by the way?
I'll keep everyone posted on the Volvo and post pics here when I'm done converting it.

I didn't even get a ticket. By the time they even got it called in, they could barely see my car, let alone get my plates. They would have never caught up. Cop cars in my area, at that time, could only do 105 mph. I was gone!

I have some new pics up! Sorry if it took a while on this, but school can be demanding often, and, I'll admit it, I'm a lazy a**. So far, this is a good idea of what I want it to look like. I was going to put curtains on the passenger's windows, but after I did that, it looked really awkward, both on the outside and on the inside, not to mention making it feel cramped. Also, I haven't put the refreshment cabinet that I built for it inside, and I haven't cleaned the carpets in a while, but I'll get those little things taken care of during spring break (Hell, I'll be doing work all week, so why not?) I'm thinking now about going to Wal-Mart and buying a roll of dark tint and just tinting the windows myself, which will eliminate the need for several of the curtains. Let me know what you think, and don't be afraid to be truthful. Here's an ad I made for my business:

Not going to lie man, but the curtains look...well...very Martha Stewart. confused Tint the windows really dark. It'll look much better and, when you're cruising by yourself you can pretend you're a Nigerian Drug Dealer in eastern europe. 3nodding

YOU HAVE A VIPER?! I'd really like to see some more pics of your car, and possible others here too. As for my car, unfortunately, because of US laws, I cannot go on with my business. However, I will take up on SuperPanda's advice and really tint the windows.

By the way, my Volvo has recently broken 190K miles and still is in fine form (it's still a little sluggish getting up-to-speed for the highway, however).
Only 10K miles more until the 200K threshold, and I get another badge on my grille. ^_^
