Why is it that where there are ENDLESS debates over sexuality and religion, there is no longer room for an original (or at least rarely visited) concept?
Are people just trying to out-do each other in regards to shock value posts?
Honestly!
Meanwhile, someone floats by a random (but thought provoking!) thread and it gets shipped off to the ChatterBox!!!!
Maybe I'm prizing myself too highly..... In anycase, topics are becoming more and more single minded.
I must see at least 30 new posts on whether God exists or not each time I log on!!!
*sigh*
What does everyone else think?

I agree, I'm actually really tired of seeing all the stupid "Does God Exist?", "Athiests are the ONLY religion", or "ZOMG ru a virg1n??!!?!?!!?111?!" threads.
That's why I tend to stay out of the ED, or only visit the older ones back a couple of pages.
I totally ignore the stupid thread pulse.

Yeah, I usually hang out in the GD threads or watch movies. It gets too detailed, serious, and boring to read posts in the ED forum. It makes me wonder why I was invited to this guild. No one has responded to my music thread yet

It's probably because it causes more stupid answers to the thread, and everyone automatically considers it to be spamming. Pretty sad, actually. Especially when a good discussion or two comes around, it nobody takes it seriously.

Good sir, you remember the old days a little differently than I. The ED of old was full of elitism as I recall. I don't remember several threads on the same things, there were actual discussions going on and mods who did their jobs, for a time at least. Then they cut back and things started to go downhill rather quickly, causing guilds such as the Defenders of ED to be made. I stay away from ED now. I've heard about how ED and GD have gotten to the point where they're only a little better than the Personals forum was before it was closed down.

Im getting quite sick about hearing the debate of God and Jesus and other religion ( although the Christianity is bombed alot ).
Anyhow, people here on the internet just like to discuss it, its a hot topic not only on the internet but also in real life, imagine if a full buss with people were talkin to each other like the internet
u most definitly will hear the word : God at least 5 times in ur whole bustrip of 15 mins

I left ED entirely within a month or so after joining. It seems to be a whole lot of people making statements without ever reading what anyone else ever wrote.
(Which explains why the same threads keep popping up over and over and over again, doesn't it?)

I personally think that the ED is getting a little bit better. I mean, I don't participate in it as much as I used to (just don't have the time), but when I do go in the conversations are interesting.
Of course there are going to be repeat topics. Originality is near dead. But it's nice when people take different approaches to a major topic and make you think about it from another angle. The only thing I dislike is when someone takes a major topic and says something like, "Yeah, I hate it, your opinion please?" Like opinions alone on that topic haven't already been floating around in the ED already! I like conversations that are more challenging than merely stating my opinion.
Wow, I just realized I totally deviated from the actual point of this thread! Sorry, it's mah bedtime. sweatdrop

I'll go with Gaian's trying to outdo each other and add to that...moderators not giving a rats behind about good conversation. But then it's not only a Gaia problem. It's like this all over the net. Like you I've seen many good topics get tossed into the ChatterBox because it was not related to sexuality, religion, political bashing, creation vs evolution, college degree vs life lessons. Please, theres more to life than these things and I come to the net in order to have some fun and get away from these things.
