 The female's pale blue and golden swirly tails waved about cheerfully as she made her way towards the HQ. Even though she internally felt the workings, nothing on the outside has changed at all about her. She didn't appear any different, but she wasn't far enough in that stage yet.
Despite Hati's objections to her moving about, she just couldn't keep indoors. The weather was too nice out to stay inside. It was a bit chilly, but the leaves were changing into so many brilliant, flaming colors! Aside from all that, she couldn't wait to meet up with Sere and their old friend Ronan.

 Curled atop one of the HQ's couches sat Sere, ever vigilant in his nervous watch of the room. Experience and circumstance had done little to quell his fear that the world may be out to get him. And despite the almost brave sort of face he put on in front of Akari, without her, he reverted and became nearly the same as before. Scooting closer to the edge he peered over, glancing warily across the room to the corner his father always occupied. But it was empty, reminding the younger male of the conversation they'd had just minutes after his arrival here earlier today. 'I'm proud of you, son,' India had said, offering a loving nuzzle of the sort Sere hadn't received since kit-hood.
Amber eyes shut, tails swishing in a confused manner over the edge and back up. "I need a walk," the male muttered to himself, jumping from the couch--or rather, slipping as secretly as possible from the couch. Stretching lightly, he padded toward the door, paying more attention to his father's unoccupied spot than were he was going (which nearly found him in the wall before he jumped back nervously). Slipping outside, he shuddered. Hopefully his black fur would do its job of absorbing sunlight soon.

 Le sigh. A brow rose as he could even see his huff escape into the air, it was so crisp with the changing weather. The perfect time to return ho...er, to realm. With blue spotted ears held back, Ronan padded his way through the golden brown woods. He could only wonder if Setsumi had made it back before him.
Eyes peered boredly around him as he continued his walk. Not that he was expecting much; a pretty dull realization. If only he knew the crazy events and happenings he had missed in his leaving. Paws slowed when the male heard another trotting through the foliage. Lifting his head just a bit, he could make out the form of another kitsu some feet away. Was that....Akari? Hmm, should he greet her? He had only meet her once before, but even that was enough to earn a hello. Besides, it was the first familiar face he had seen while on his return. Leaping past roots and bushes, Ronan gave a friendly grin as his noisy approach drew nearer. "Well, if it isn't Akari. One can never forget white eyes, eh?"

As the female made her way towards the HQ, she was blissfully unaware of an old time friend's sudden appearance. She only met him once, but at the very least he was a close friend of Sere's. That ought to at least earn a warm greeting from her, even if she gave those to practically every familiar face. Even so, she was happy to see him again since his long time disappearance.
"Hello there!" She beamed excitedly, "It's nice to see you again, Ronan. How have you been?" Her tails waved excitedly behind her. She couldn't wait for Sere and him to meet up again, the two must want to catch up on old times. "And who could forget you and your bright colors?" She grinned.
"Oh, by the way, this is Hati, my guardian," she nodded towards the small black creature laying on top of her head.
The small creature extended its head forward, taking a few suspicious sniffs. He wasn't used to anyone quite yet, and feared for Akari's safety with her overly bubbly personality. That female would assume the best of people too much, and with her pregnancy it called for even more high precaution. His little yellow eyes gazed suspiciously at Ronan, unsure of what to make of him. For now he would trust the brightly colored kitsu warily.

The path he chose provided familiar comfort. It was one he often took, one that would eventually catch up with the path he'd guided Akari along that day. It seemed like an eternity, he thought, since then. However, the season change reminded him that it certainly hadn't been that long ago. Dark ears slid back, flicking gently as he thought. It didn't take long before he was lost in the realm of his mind, forgetting his surroundings as he often did. Walks weren't meant for the sights when it came to Sere. Walks were meant to give him time to think, time away from the stress and pressure of everyday life.
Life slipped away. He was so close to being in that old, protected space where even lady luck wouldn't dare pull tricks on him. He felt rela- What was that?! The skittish male must've jumped a foot of the ground, body shaking. The plantlife had become so noisy all of a sudden! Rustles came from this way and that, bouncing off trees and giving him no idea of the real origin. Stopping in his tracks, he backed up slowly, not noticing the curve in his retreat that led him through a bush. Back away and it'll be okay... Amber eyes widened as he backed into something solid. Jumping away, he spun on the object, eyes widening further--if possible--when he saw just what (or who) he'd backed into. "A-Akari..." His gaze scanned the area with a quickness, still in defensive mode. "Ronan!" Realizing how foolish he must look to both mate and friend, he tried to straighten.

The older male just shook his head with a shrug. "Not much to tell. Went on a vacation with some others, and came back just today." He sat back on his haunches to get comfortable. Afterall, he had been walking this whole time, come to think of it. "Me? Bright colors? Don't be silly." He laughed with a wave to his paw. It was atleast true to him, with his almost colorblind eyes. All he saw was dull saturations.
Ronan tilted his head at the mention of another, finally realizing the blotch of fur ontop Akari's head. "A guardian, eh? Must be a recent purchase, I don't remember him." His ears darted back sharply as he heard more leaves bustling around to their side. And with such light colored leaves, it wasn't hard to spot the dark furred kitsu stumbling out. Open laughter filled his lungs to the young male's nervous trek. So, Sere was still the same. "Nice to meet you too kid." What a pleasant surprise, two friends in one go. He reached out and ruffed the other male's hair. "What, cat got your tongue?"

She was too entranced in her conversation with Ronan to hear or at least notice the presence of her mate backing up into her. When he lightly bumped into her, she jumped slightly in surprise, unsure of who it was. Hati in the meantime was practically glaring at Sere with a look of disapproval. He certainly couldn't believe that weakling was Akari's mate. What did she even see in him?
When she tilted her head towards the black furred male, she beamed with delight, "Sere!" she practically yelled. That was certainly unplanned. She had planned to meet him at HQ without him knowing. It did made things easier on her, though. At least she wouldn't have to walk some more to get to him.
"Guess what?" She asked excitedly, almost jumping up and down.

"No..." The answer was almost indignant as he pouted, ears sliding back. And yet, despite his appearance, it was all too obvious in his eyes and that tiny tilt of head towards paw; he was enjoying the friendly display of affection. It certainly was good to see Ronan again. How long had it been? "I hope you've been well," he continued, adding a genuine sort smile that was rarely given to anyone but close friends. A bit of the day's earlier nervousness began to fade, giving a tiny twitch of happiness to each of his tails.
Ears flicked back up then, catching Akari's exclaimation. He couldn't help but smile, accepting in his own embarrased way that she was actually excited to see HIM of all Kitsu. Amber eyes left the bright colors of his old friend, only to be greeted by a sour look. Ears were back down in no time flat as he stared back at the unapproving guardian, looking more and more sheepish with each second that the little eyes bore into him. Shifting, he tried his best to actually look at the female beneath the unnerving furball. "You've got me," he responded, grinning as jokingly as possible with the guardian's eyes still on him. "What?"

White eyes blinked in silent grinning as the male meeped a reply. Same old Sere. He removed his paw from the other's hair before following his line of sight. Oh, the new guardian. Sheesh, he could give daring looks for something so little! Ronan smirked and stuck his tongue out in play to Hati. What would he do? Then again, with his luck he'd get attacked by it, like some rabid squirrel. o_o
Ears heard the excitement in Akari's voice, and Ronan tilted his head while peeking to Sere. Guess what? What had happened? "Well, let's hear it." He had no idea as to what was so joyous of news. Maybe a party? Still, Ronan peeked between the boy and girl. She hadn't mentioned anything exciting to him before. Yet once Sere arrived, it seemed Akari was enlightened with the urge to speak about it. So what was it that they knew?

She blinked curiously at the reactions of the two before her mention of her question. Sere looked as if some giant monster was right in front of him, glaring down on him while Ronan stuck his tongue out at her. Hati was still resting there on top of her head, so he wasn't visually in sight for her to see his reactions towards her friend and mate or else she would've given him a scolding or two. He had good intentions, though.
Either way, she grinned playfully at the two. Her tails flickered playfully as well as she glanced back and forth between the two, "Eggs~" she replied cheerfully.

Noting from the corner of his eye that Ronan was sticking his tongue out, he couldn't help but feel a bit better, at least. It was nice to have a friend stick up for him, in a way. Surely the colorful male could see the silent altercation between he and the guardian. After all, what reason would he have for sticking his tongue out at Akari? None, right?
Returning full attention to the only female, he was taken off guard, to say the least, at the simple statement. Eggs? What? A contemplating look lit his features. Ears twitched in thought as they always did; a true sign of attempt. And then it hit him. Like a ton of bricks. And at the same time, the thought spread a strange warmth through him. There was no other reason she would bring up eggs, unless-? ".... Our... eggs?' he questioned, looking like a mix between a lost and excited puppy. Could it really be that he was to be a father?

Headtilt. Say whu? Ronan's expression was blank, with question marks literally floating above his head. Eggs? Blink. "What....for breakfast?" Then he chuckled shortly, acknowledging the other term for eggs. So someone was having kits, eh? But, surely not Akari...
Ears rose high when he heard Sere speak up. Though, he wasn't expecting those words. Surprised eyes darted to the other male before zooming back to the female. "You two are a couple?!" Nose bleed. Ronan rushed to pinch his nose, the shock just unexplainable. How long had he been gone?? I mean, he had thought of them as a sibling bond...nothing more. How come everyone he knew decided to get mated. x.x Still, the bright male tossed a grin to Sere. "Wow, didn't know you had it in ya. Congrats!"

She glanced excitedly between the two males, her eyes obviously beaming. Though most would feel embarrassed at the mention of having children, she didn't feel the least bit embarrassed about it. They were hers and her mate's. What was there to be embarrassed about? Eggs were another form of a miracle. She considered them a new miracle, more so than most things in the world.
"Not for breakfast!" Akari yelled at the brightly colored male. She could see where the confusion was. She would never expect herself and Sere as a couple, let alone parenting eggs together. Though unexpected things happen, and a new surprise awaited them all. "Of course they're ours, silly," she replied with an excited smile.
"So that must mean you're going to be an uncle! Or maybe a god-father. Either one," the pale blue female grinned at Ronan, "Right, Sere?"

Still a strange mix of nervousness and excitement, he shifted, looking between not only the other Kitsu present, but also the guardian. It wouldn't surprise him if, at the mention of eggs, Hati's gaze had become sharp at him again. Despite having no idea what he'd done (oblivious to the little one's dislike of his sheepishness) he still felt bad. "That's..." he forced his eyes to leave the guardian, focusing his happiness on Akari. That's- He laughed, shutting his amber eyes and sitting back, unsure of how to respond. It was great, wonderful. The idea of being a father felt different, unusal, but also... fun?
"That's amazing," he finally finished, sheepish smile still plastered on his maw. "I hope you'll help us out, Uncle Ronan." Opening his eyes, he looked to his friend, remembering the time they'd first met. Sere hadn't been able to speak then. And now the brightly colored male would be around when the kits of he and his beloved wouldn't be able to speak, either. What an interesting realization.

Ronan only grinned openly at the yells. Darn, no breakfast. It was funny though, to be present and see Sere's reaction. He could imagine the feeling, being numbed by shock and joy, thus practically speechless.
His form stiffened suddenly, eyes wide with maw thin. They were joking, right? Besides, Akari didn't know him that well to know his little...viewpoint of children. No worries. Wait, what?!? Uncle Ronan? The male shot Sere a puzzled look, praying he was joking. Of course Sere's expression, though, showed no deceiving. Bright ears lowered down slowly. "As flattering as that offer is......ya'll must be crazy." Even with Setsumi, he never held those titles. He sighed loudly and rubbed his face, knowing what he'd end up doing anyway.
