Sorry for complaining, but my piano teacher has recently told me that i need to step up in order to be successful in the music field.

HOW DO I DO THAT??!!
I'm taking 4 extremely HARD classes in school, and I barely have enough time to finish all the homework.
Plus, I have SAT December 1st, and ACT December 8th, so I'm studying till my brain dies
Plus, math "tutoring" and english "tutoring" on mondays and.. some other day that i don't know. (i'm not stupid in math it's jst to help me on some of the new material i might not understand)

I usually finish everything around 9
how can i make time for piano?!!! (1-3 hours)

HHHHHHHELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP PLEASE!! crying

Don't sleep, and just practice late at night!!

J/K XD

Though to be honest, if you finish things around 9, you have plenty of time to practice unless you're in a habit of sleeping very early. My bedtime is around midnight, and I've frequently found myself practicing around 9-10 to just before I go to bed. =d

He might not be able to do that if there are some sensitive neighbours around him. That's my case. I have to finish practising at 8:30pm at the latest. Maybe shift some homework later?(Don't listen to me though, I'm a TERRIBLE procrastinator)

Practice extra hard on weekends. If you have a project or homework to do on weekends, then do them first. As much as I hate to sound like a parent, school is more important as you can get scholarships for college. That's my plan, to get a scholarship for orchestra then I can practice my piano more. Besides I have 4 classes too, but that doesn't stop me from playing piano.

Just finish your homework then play is the best way to sum it up.

Meeps, I feel for you. I'm also burdened with a packed schedule and there was a week or two when I went by with so little practicing time, it showed through my lessons and I was really upset at myself. I'm now using every little break I can find to practice...must improve!

If you can, try and fit in half an hour of practice before or in midst of doing your homework? It'd give you a break from studying too--half hour isn't much, but it's better than nothing, and if you pinpoint stuff to practice it's still bound to be efficient. :3

Good luck!!

What about practicing in the mornings? I get to school at 8 o'clock on Wednesdays and Thursdays so I spend that hour practicing on the grand piano. I've also been using my free periods to practice as well, although today I'm proud of myself as I actually went to the library and started my Classics. essay, go me.

I've had to do way more clarinet practice really, but yeah, when you do piano practice you should focus firmly on what you need to do, like Wings said. Even though it won't be as fun, you'll still get a lot out of it.

While 'practice makes perfect' is true - it's not always the amount of time, but the QUALITY of time - how focused you are and how good you are at narrowing down to the spots that really need the most work. You can get a lot done in a fairly short time if you keep those things in mind - though obviously more time is always better.
