"He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life" (John 12:25 NKJV)

SO does this mean that if I love my life, I'm gonna get a worse eternal life?? or better?? dang now that confused me but that wasn't my question. And if I hate my life then I'm stuck with it? seems like both ways end up on a negative? thats so confusing.. so if I shouldn't love or hate my life... tehn what should i do with it (love-hate wise)?

I thought maybe someone could help me?

Right now, all I can say is that it's a mis-translation. I'll type more later after I research it.

JOHN 12:25 NCV
"Those who love their lives will lose them, but those who hate their lives in this world will keep true life forever."

Those who love their lives so much that they will not leave them for god will not have life with him in heaven. But those that in comparison to the love they have for god hate their lives, will have eternal life with god.

If you love your life more than jesus, you are not willing to leave them to follow him. If you love your lives less than you love jesus you get to heaven.

This interpretation can be supported by the previous verse:
"I tell you the truth, a grain of wheat must fall to the ground and die to make many seeds. But if it never dies, it remains only a single seed"
If someone doesn't die in the sense of giving up their life for God, they are of no use and therefore will not recaive life in heaven.

It also may be interpretted as if you are being persurcutted for loving jesus but stay true to your faith then you will get life in heaven. But if you get persurcutted for your faith and leave it so that you can have a good life without persecuton, then you won't have life in heaven.

I now what i mean but have i explained so that anyone else understands?

That seems like a pretty good explanation, tell me are you well versed in Biblical theology?

hey there

i hear what you're saying and its possible it could be a mistranslation- but in our youth group lately we've been talking on the theme of Phillipians 1:21 "For me to live is Christ and to die is gain"
And where I could see your bible reference from is that, those who are living great loves and enjoying it, will die, as in they will join Jesus at the right hand of the father, We will be heirs with Jesus, so after death an awesome life can only get better, if you have given your life to Christ, you have no reason to fear death because you have Him by your side.

But thats my take on it anyway.

God Bless
