This is a story that I wrote a while back. If you like it, let me know. Or if you hate it and want to wear my insides as a necklace...
Jessie was always well known for drawings and personality. She was one of the most popular kids at college. She had a great fiancee and a baby on the way. Rewards and certificates placed on a dresser in frames, to her hard work. The room is decorated in some stuffed animals and artistic drawings hung over a purple and white stripped bed. Many pictures of her and her fiancee placed all over the room. The phone on the bedside stand begins to ring. Jessie, still in a towel, comes out of the bathroom running. Her stomach pressed against the towel showing she was six months pregnant. She grabs the phone quickly “Hello?” The shower can be heard in the background still running. “Jessie! Bad news.” A boy on the line answers.
“What’s the bad news this time, Jason?” She asks in a disappointed voice as she sits on the side of her bed.
“I have to work tonight. I promise I will make this up to you tomorrow. I’m so sorry, Jess.” Jason replied in a sympathetic voice.
Jessie sighs “It’s ok, Jason. I know you are working hard to get us a place of our own. I just wish you didn’t have to work two jobs a day.” She brushes her wet hair out of her face.
“I just want to give you and our baby a good home. And if it means I have to do this, than I will.” Jason replied
“I will be starting work soon at the pharmacy . . . They gave me a full time job as the custodian.”
“Jess . . . I don’t want you to be on your feet so much.” Jason replied with a slight sigh. “Just get some rest tonight because tomorrow, I’m going to be taking you to the Halloween dance.”
“Ok. Just call me when you get to work. Let me know you made it there ok.” Jessie said with a smile forming on her face.
“I will Jess. I love you.” He replied.
“I love you too, Jason. Bye” She replied back with a smile then hung up the phone. <********! I’m going to be late!” Jason said in anger looking to his watch “7:00 p.m.” The night was misty from the early rain. The road seemed to shine in the light of his headlights. He quickly looked into his rear view mirror and started to speed up to make it to work. In the far distance, he spotted out the sign “Oak Mill City Morgue.” He turned on his signal light and slowly drove through the empty parking lot, to the side of the building. A man in a bloody white lab coat and blue scrubs stood waiting at the side door. The expression on his face let Jason know he was angered. The old man stood impatiently waiting while smoking a cigarette.
Jason quickly parked his car and opened the door. “I’m so sorry Mr. Miller.” He spoke, quickly reaching into the backseat of his car and pulling out a small gym bag. “I see you aren’t even dressed. Nice way to start out a new job. Also, you are late. Not looking so well Jason. But I will let it slide just this time.” Miller replied as he stomped out his cigarette. Jason hurried inside and stopped in shock. On a table, in the center of the room, lay a male corpse. His chest cavity ripped open, and some of his organs placed on a small metal table. “You act as if you have never seen a dead body before, Jason.” Miller laughed. “I haven’t, Sir.” Jason replied with discomfort in his voice. “Ah. Please don’t call me Sir. Just call me Miller. And you will have to get use to being around dead bodies if you plan on working with me. Now.” He places his hand on Jason’s shoulder with a smile. “Go get changed” He patted Jason’s shoulder than walked over to his little station of equipment. Jason walked off into the bathroom next door.
Moments later, Jason returned wearing green scrubs and white tennis shoes. Miller stood over the body wearing blood stained gloves, a surgical mask below his chin, and smiling. “Now, Jason, when I start the examination, you have to remain quiet because I have to keep a voice record. You are just here to be my little handy helper. Think you can do that for me?” The doctor asked in a kind and gentle voice. “Of course. But can I ask you some questions before we start? Seeing all of this has me interested.” Jason asked. “Sure, but make it fast, I want to be out of here before dawn breaks.” Miller replied with a warm laugh.
Jason looked the body over, feeling a bit nauseous from the look of everything. “What happened to this guy?” Jason asked as his face turned a slight pale color.
Miller laughed and replied, “So far, he died a healthy man. It was the broken neck that killed him.” He pointed to the big bruising around the corpse’s neck area. “Neck was snapped from the right side.” Miller replied.
“What about the big bruising on his sides and under this block thing under his back?” Jason asked bending over to get a closer look at the bruising.
“That is rigamortis. And the block thing is called a Body Block. It used for to make the arms and neck to fall back. It also pushes the chest upward making it easier and clearer when I cut open the chest cavity.” Miller had a slight grin when he noticed Jason’s face turning even more pale. “Ah. If you’re going to puke, there is a trash can near the door.” Jason makes a hand motion meaning “No.” Miller has a slight laugh and asks “Is there anything else you would like to know before we get started?” “No . . . No, that’s all.” Jason replied slightly gagging from the rising smell of the decaying corpse. Miller grinned and pointed to a small box of gloves and a mask. He stumbled across the room thinking of Jessie. He had to do this job to make money for them.
Hours later, the corpse lay on the table completely emptied of organs, and the skin flaps pulled open. The arms and legs were cut open with the skin flaps pulled over to allowing viewing inside. And the top of the skull missing, with the skin flaps pulled over the face and neck. Jason sits resting in the chair in the corner of the room hovering over the trash can. Both Miller and Jason were covered in blood. Miller slightly laughed as he recorded the cause of death on a small recorder. “Broken neck was the cause of death.” He spoke into the small microphone then switched it off.
“So, Jason?” Miller said pulled off his gloves and placing them in a container on the wall. “Lets take a break than we can pack up these organs to be sent to the incinerator. I think I have a spare cardboard box in the storage room.” Jason looked to Miller with a slight shock in his eyes. “A cardboard box?” He asked confused. “Yea. Why not? I mean, they are going to be burned aren’t they?” Jason sighed and leaned back against the wall. Miller looked at him with a slight grin on his face.
“Do we really have to take a break?” Jason asked. “I was hoping to get home soon. Me and my fiancee had plans for tomorrow night.” Miller paused as he was heading toward double doors at the far end of the room. “Yeah. Just let me go get the rest of the paper work. You can go get the cardboard box in the storage room. It’s in the first room in the storage room. Do not go into the other room. That’s private. Meaning me only!” Miller snapped as he burst through the open doors. Jason stared at him with a confused look upon his face. “Ok then . . .” Jason said, rasing an eyebrow in confusion.
He stood and reached into his pocket for his cell phone. It was time to call Jessie and let her know he will be working a bit later than he had expected. While dialing her number, he stumbled to the storage closest, still nauseous from what he had witnessed. The phone started to ring as he entered the storage closest. Looking over the room, he saw no cardboard boxes. Only ice cooler and chemicals. Jessie answers over the phone “Hello?”
“Hey Jess! I will be home in a few hours. Or so. I still have a bit of work to do before I get to go. This job is disgusting.” Jason replied with a slight sigh.
“I’m sorry, sweety. What have you done so far?” Jessie asked with a yawn forming.
“Well, I got to watch a dude get disemboweled . . . Which caused me to puke three times.” He said with laughter in his voice.
“Ewww! That’s just sick Jason. What are you doing right now?” She asked recovering from her moment of disgust.
“Well, I’m on a great adventure. I have to find a cardboard box. Which there is none in this storage closest.” Jason replied, as he moved around a few containers, and small boxes of chemicals. “Oh, hang on. I think I found it.” He placed the phone in his pocket as he moved a bundle of clear plastic to the side. Suddenly, he noticed a strange dark red stain on the corners of the box and around the floor under the box. Cautiously, he slowly opened the box and jumped back in fear, knocking over a shelf coolers containing human body parts wrapped in plastic and covered with small ice cubes. “Oh my god . . .” Jason muttered to himself. The box he had opened, was packed full of rotting organs, human bones, and decaying limbs. He held back his vomit as he heard the door slam behind him. It was Miller.
“I told you to get the cardboard box, Jason. This is not the cardboard box. That is occupied! You ******** moron!” He stormed tword Jason clutching a small scalpel. Jason started backwards and tripped over the box. “Is it that hard to fallow my instructions?! Is it?!” Miller screamed out as he kicked aside the frozen body parts scattered on the floor. Jason’s cell phone slid across the floor and under a shelf as he opened the door behind him and crawled inside as quickly as possible. He slammed the door closed and locked it. Jessie, over hearing everything, and began yelling, out over the phone, “Jason?! What is going on over there?! Jason?!” She began to panic. Miller over heard her screaming on the cell phone and started to laugh. He kneeled down to the shelf, and pulled the phone out. He grinned as he removed the battery from the back.
Jason was safely locked in the other room. It was a cold and dark room, which made the fear rise faster. His heart was racing from the gore he had just witnessed and the mad man who was after him. He stood and began to search the walls for a light switch. Finally, he stumbled open one. He quickly switched it on, only to find himself locked in the worst room of all. He stood with his back against the wall as his eyes lit with fear. Human corpses hung from the ceiling, wrapped in blood stained plastic. Surgical tools lay on the far side of the room upon a table where another body lay. The body of a mother. Fetuses inside small jars lined the back of the walls. The smell of the rotting corpses caused him to vomit. He wiped the sweat from his face as he peered around the room. He was surrounded by death and madness. “What in hell is wrong with you?!” Jason screamed out to Miller. Miller stood on the opposite side of the door laughing.
“How do you like my little private room. It’s where I keep my best work. Get use to it, Jason . . . I’m going to be adding you to my collection soon enough.” He replied in a sarcastic manner. He slapped the door gently as he began to laugh. Jason let out a scream of fear as he scratched the wall he was standing against.
Miller could be heard dancing and singing as he left the storage room. Jason had realized Miller was criminally insane. He had to escape or end up like the rest. He tried to calm himself down as he started through the hanging corpses. All of them were missing parts. Some missing their organs, the rest missing limbs. Once pregnant women, hung with the fetuses removed. Some were even skinned completely. It was a room of pure terror and gore. All the fetuses in the jars, were at a different age. Some were a few weeks old. Some almost nine month’s old. It was clear, Miller wasn’t taking in people that was dead when he was called in to pick the bodies up. It was clear he was killing people off the streets and people he worked with.
Jason started through the isles of gore, seeing no exist. He was freezing and exhausted . . . He sat down at the end of the isles and rested against the wall. He looked up into the blue lights over head, thinking about Jessie. Wondering if he would ever see her again. If he would ever get to see his baby. A tear ran down his face as he started to daze in and out. He hadn’t had that much sleep in the past few weeks. Seeing he had two jobs and college. He closed his eyes thinking of the wedding ring he had bought for Jessie, and if he would ever get to slip that ring her finger and get to say “I do.” . . . So many thoughts were running through his head. Soon, he dazed off to sleep.
A loud blood curling scream woke him. He jumped to his feet, wide awake and fully aware. Again, the scream echoed through the isles. It was Jessie. “You b*****d!” Jason screamed as he took off running to the door, knocking down bodies that hung from the ceiling. He’s heart raced in fear of what was going on. He had to save Jessie, no matter what the cost. He swung open the door and stomped through the mess in the storage room. He pushed open the door, and in terror and disgust, he fell weak to ground of seeing Jessie strapped to a table. A slice from her stomach to her chest with the skin flaps pulled back. Blood was streaming from her mouth, and her eyes focused on Jason. She managed to whisper the words “Help me.” As Miller pulled the fetus from her womb and placed in a small jar. Her eyes set and became glassed over. Jason could see his 6-month-old baby boys’ arms moving as the chemicals in the jar killed him. Miller looked over to Jason and began to laugh. “I will call this one, Michael!” He laughed like a maniac as he peered over to Jason. His clothing stained with blood. The entire room smelled of death. The corpse lay in the corner of the room wrapped in plastic, as if Miller had been planning everything.
Jason watched helplessly as Jessie’s organs were ripped out and placed in a small ice cooler. He fainted from what had just witnessed. Seeing his beloved fiancee murdered brutally. Witnessing the death of his own son. Jessie over heard everything and rushed to the City Morgue to find out if everything was ok. One mad man had ended it all. The future was now just a dim fading candle.
A few minutes later, Jason woke, unable to move his body nor speak. His mouth had been sawn such and his limbs were strapped to the table with the body block under his back. He looked around the room, with blurry vision. He couldn’t see Miller anywhere. Jason began to pull on the straps that held him to the table. He tried to scream but the stitching was through the bottom of his chin to the tops of his jaws. It was impossible to scream. Suddenly, a figure appeared behind him. Jason focused his eyes and realized it was Miller. He stood over Jason smiling. “The proceeder is only half finished Jason.” He smiled walking around the table holding to a bone saw. “We have to finish, or we will never know the cause of death.” He laughed as he started the bone saw and pressed it hard into Jason’s chest, cutting through the flesh and bone.
Miller laughed loudly as blood and bits of bone flew everywhere. Jason continued to try to scream. The pain was endless it seemed. Miller stopped the bone saw as he got to Jason’s belly button. He smiled sadistically to Jason who was still trying to scream. “Now, for the best part of autopsy” He placed his fingers in the large cut on Jason’s chest, and smiled as Jason’s eyes widen in fear and pain. “Internal examination!” With a great pull, Miller ripped open Jason’s chest. He laughed as he started to twirl his fingers around Jason’s still beating heart. Jason began to try to cough, as blood streamed out his nose and the corners of his mouth. His eyes became glassed over and set, focusing on Miller. “Awww! I was hoping you would still be with me through the organ examination. But, I can see the cause of death. When I broken your rib cage open, a few of the bones pierced your lungs. Such a shame too.” Miller began to laugh as he started to remove Jason’s organs and throw them into the ice cooler.
Later that night, just before dawn, Miller was sitting in his collection room, Jason and Jessie hung side by side. Both a completely empty shell. Miller sit looking into the jar that contained the fetus. “You’re so cute!” he said as the fetus began to move again. He stood placing it onto the wall and dropped small chunks of human flesh into the jar. He watched with joy in his eyes as the fetus began to feed off the fresh human meat. The entire wall of fetuses were feeding off of the meat and flesh he had placed in the jars with them. Growling and splashing could be heard from some of the jars. The phone began to ring on the desk. Miller hurried over and answered “Hello?” A short pause as he listens to the person on the phone. A big smile formed on his face. “Why yes, the job is open. If you are interested, be here tonight at 7 sharp". . .
