The wind blowing in her hair, her blue eyes focused on the door ahead. She did not bother looking back at her blue friend, but instead continued to think about their escape. They had been in the Gaian Humane Society for literally days, but now it would be time to let loose, and free themselves from a life of cages. The adult female Jack Russel grinned as she literally lept into the air and slammed her body against the door. Only a few seconds passed, as the door to the outside world flew wide open. Her heart raced, as she barked with excitement and fled quickly out of the doorway.
Her tail wagged as she continued padding on. She looked back for a second to see her friend. "Stay close to my lead, and we'll be able to get out of here safely." Their escape from the building was easy enough, but now they had another task ahead. The fence was blocking their freedom. Sirens began blaring, the warning that someone had escaped. She paused at the bottom of the wired fence, glaring up at it with her eyes.

He followed loyally behind her, his eyes trained on the soft leaf-like markings of her paws while they raced throughout the building. It seemed like ages as they made way towards the large door, and his sky-blue ears perked erect, waiting for any sign of the humans looking to catch them. Finally, they made it to the door and he kept his body close to hers, skidding to a halt and waiting anxiously for the doors to open.
"What-" His voice barked out in surprise as she literally rammed herself against the door, and he glanced both ways with anxiety to make sure she didn't bring unwanted attention. The door flew open and he raced out, raising a brow at her order as a slow smirk crossed his maw. They had escaped, but even he knew that the door was just the easy part.
Slowing down with a soft pant, he glanced high up the wired wall and than back to his green femme friend. Raising a brow, he easily slid pass her, showing little haste despite the rough beating of his heart.
"Watch and learn, Ma chère" He said with a cheeky French drawl, before turning back and grinning. The other day, another had made it out, and the dirt was still fine from when they attempted to fill the hole. And thus, the blue Jack Russel took advantage of the mistake, and quickly started to dig, dirt flying everywhere in his haste to set them free.

"Oh! Smart thinking!" She nodded, and then awaited for the other dog to dig out the tunnel, for their escape. The noise of footsteps was heard. In a hurry, she darted for the hole, pushing the male through, in which broke to the other side. She nudged through, and sprung out on the other side. She barked at the guards as they rushed to the fence. "I hate to break it to you all, but we're busting outta here!" She grinned, and then took the lead.
Racing down an alleyway, she turned a corner, heading right for the road. She paused, and then looked before running across. Thankfully there was not many cars around at this time of day. The sun was up, but it barely lit the city at the ground level. But, that would make their escape even easier.
She flew down another alley, and then to a few cans of trash. She wagged her tail rapidly, and then stood up into one of the cans with excitement. "Maybe we can find a collar or two in here -- and a bite to eat. You know how humans are with their wasting. Theres many dogs in the city. Theres bound to be collars around. Least the dog catchers won't suspect us if we've got identification." The humans were not only wasters, but were stupid, at that. It was easy to be avoided, to not get caught. Even in such a mass of human population.

Feeling the sudden shove from behind, he let out a sort of yip as if she had bitten him. Dragging himself the rest of the way through, he let out a hiss and glared at her, but smoothed over his ruffled feathers as she barked back. Joining her with his own deep voice, he let out a loud laugh before growling at the men.
"Try and catch us now, scum!" And with that, he ran along side the emerald female, following through the road and not bothering to look both ways. To him, it didn't matter, because at least he would die free. That, and he enjoyed living on the wild side.
As they finally halted in an alley, he let a short breath out and looked around, watching her jump to the cans and waiting to see if she would find anything.
"You're really excited, no?" He asked with a half-smirk, his breathing finally even as he noted her quick conversation and the flash of her tail, "As if we won't find anything, the streets are thriving with meals for use to snag...garbage cans or no..." Picturing all of the delicacies that he had encountered before his capture, he felt his maw watering, and quickly tried to hide it from his friend.

Lily flicked a paper cup at the male with a wide grin. "Yeah, but not everyone throws collars into the streets. You wanna get caught again? ..." She questioned him, and then dug further. A smile graced her maw as she found a pair of beaten old collars, with a small silver tag on each. It wasn't gold, but it sure was fancy!
She spat the extra at the male's paws and then put the other around her neck. "Fine, now we can go into the streets and find whatever we want. I just wanted to get these, just incase. You never know when the dog catcher will come by." She grinned and padded past him, her fur gracing against his own.
She walked slowly, and with dignity, as she paused at the sidewalk's end and looked into the traffic. "Alright, now we can really start our adventure." She lept into the road and then darted across the street.

The leather was warn as it touched his paws, and he glanced down with a frown at the collar. It wasn't anything nice to look at, but as she said, it wouldn't do to get caught again. His attention soon snapped back to the female as she brushed past him, and he let his eyes roll slightly at her commanding tones, before bending his head. Lifting the collar onto his nose, he snapped up and it rolled over his head and fit a bit loosely.
"I guess this will do..." He said with a shake, the leather flapping up and down his neck as the sliver tag twinkled. Nodding as it didn't come off, he turned and realized she had already left him alone, "Fantastic...I love talking to myself..."
And with that, he chased after her, letting out a bark as if to challenge her and wondering what was in store for them that night.

"If I were you, i'd stop chatting to the air and try to keep up." She grinned, and paused at the other sidewalk. "So, what shall we search for today, Coty?" She grinned, and peered around. Maybe it'd just be nice to walk around and revisit places. After all, the city was a marvelous place. There was much to do.
She walked ahead, spotting a food stand on the corner of the walkway. She licked her chops and then walked quickly towards the aroma. Lily wagged her tail with excitement as she approached the chubby man, selling hot dogs. She sat down, begging at the man's feet.
And it wasn't long before a piece of meat was thrown into her maw, and she was gracefully walking back to Coty. "So, why don't you try?"

Watching her walk away, he snorted and settled on his haunches, a bit amazed at her skill. However, when she turned around to face him, he was already looking away and acting bored. A yawn was forced from his maw when she got close, the exhale to stop the scent of hot dogs from reaching his noes.
"Try what...begging is quite below my expectations, Ma chère. I am disappointed in you." Smirking to show he was teasing, if slightly, he turned and padded in the opposite direction. He hoped it would show that he wasn't going to follow her, it was getting quite old in his opinion, and he was a dog of freedom.

"So what if its low? We're about as low as anything in this city. The least humans can do is give us something free -- something warm." She snorted, as she ate her meal, and then tagged after him with a wide grin. Then she came closer, and headbutted him playfully, as she lept past him.
"So, why not a game of tag then, sour face?" She turned back and then darted forward with all her might. She might've stooped low enough for free food, but she could prove her worth another way. Beating him at his own games.

The markings flashed underneath the moonlight as he puttered ahead, and rolled his eyes again as she butted his head, but never could he turn away a challenge.
"I'm not one who plays tag...but really with a taunt like that, how could one refuse?" And than he raced off, following after as he tried to avoid the wet spots and dirty spots, just in case he wanted to impress any females later in the night of course.
"You wont make it very far, Lils!"

"Oh come on, tag is fun, no matter how old you are!" Lily padded as quickly as her legs could carry her, until she crossed another street, and to an alleyway, where she sat herself down. Panting heavily, the female literally plopped onto the concrete below herself, and leaned against the wall behind her. It was quite exhausting. She shook her fur and then awaited for Coty to join her in the alley. She wasn't really all for tag, after all.
She had calmed down, and now that night was slowly coming, it'd be a hassle to see things. So, maybe this was a nice place to rest for the night. Least with the collars, they'd be unnoticed. Or, not as much as usual.

Quickly finding himself in the alleyway as well, he eyed her as she plopped down with panting breath, before a boyish smirk crossed his maw, "-fun you say?" He asked with a sort of purr, before strolling next to her and settling down himself.
"To think...freedom yet again..." It was a whimsical tone as he rolled his hips to the side and set his nose on his paws. Looking out into the street, his eyes became lidded while they followed each car that zoomed by, lights glaring.

"I'm just exhausted, thats all, Coty. We can always play more tag tomorrow, I assure you." Her ears folded back as she leaned against the male, curling closer to him for warmth. She rested her head on top of his own, and licked him lightly. So, she had to admit in her mind -- he was a pretty cool dog. She definately was falling for him.
She wagged her tail lightly, and then snuggled closer as she watched the lights fly by them. "Yes, freedom ... its so great to be back where we belong ..."
She yawned, and closed her eyes slowly, her mind focusing on one thing; Coty.

He felt her head rest upon his own, and the tender lick that brushed his ear, and found himself choked up just a bit. Swallowing hard at how close they had gotten, not being the type to just snuggle, he realized it wasn't so bad having another to rely on and be relied on. Smiling at the thought, he listened to her steady breathing as it lulled his mind into relaxation, not a worry in the world while he was there by the emerald russell's side.
