Prologue
"Bzzzzt...." the radio's emission of static over shadowed the voice in the background. "Bzzzt....attacked us. It was a major blitzkrieg. Bzzzt.. defenses were.... Bzzzzt... ood enough. Bzzt.. shot..Bzt..own, like flies. Bzzt.. n't have a chance. They are...Bzzzt... in droves, by the...Bzzt..ndreds. We won't Bzzt..t. NO! The...Bzzt.. breached! They are Bzzt.. side!" The radio transmission was cut off after the sound of gunfire and an explosion.____________________________________________________________ In this section, the prologue, we will discuss the events that happened minutes before the attack. The setting will take place minutes before or after this transmission, wherever our character is at the time. It will last the entire day in question. By the end of this section the characters will all end up meeting each other in the military base thirty miles away from where I am starting. There are two exceptions to this: 1) if the characters already met each other. 2) if the character has no ties with the military, in which case they would meet the characters during mission one.
The setting of where I am starting goes as follows. I will be in the front trench, against the "wastelands". There is another trench a few feet behind the one I start in, and three more that are rows of trenches about a half mile back. The area between the trenches are littered with rows and mazes of barbed wire fences, and the wasteland area is littered with mines. The last trenches are interconnected with various small dug in rooms. They exit at various points into the base. The trenches lead into various large buildings which are each interconnected defensive bases. The trench exits into an underground parking lot type area. The building is only two or three floors high. from those buildings lead roads into the city. Hidden beneath the sewers of the city is the Emergency Acting Military Base. This is where the leaders retreat and take command when an attack such as this occurs. The city is then divided. A healthy portion is guarded by makeshift barricades and check points. The rest is mostly under Spärtan occupation.
If anyone does not understand this explanation feel free to PM me and I will try to organize it better. Once you are accepted you can post anytime.

Walter boredly looked around his office. It was just another stupid day at the office, really, with nothing but crappy paperwork for this shitheaded government. Really, the only reason he was here was his parents' pressure. He picked up another sheet of paper whose tightly-packed, barely readable words formed words of little meaning and stamped it with one of his larger, more official stamps, and put it aside. And then he repeated it on the rest of his stack, which was thinning slower than even a gorilla's hairline.

Gun fire could be heard in the foreground. The Spärtans had made their way to the second trench and would surely breach. Jannis spent the last few minutes of peace to check the weapon of one of the soldiers under his command. The gun had a tendency to lock up, but today Jannis made sure that he greased it well. Most of the men were nervous, some shaking and others wiping their sweaty hands on their pants. The ones who have seen the dangers of battle before, all those over 26, were a lot more calm. They already knew what could not be explained or taught in basic training.
It stopped. The gunfire could no longer be heard. It was only a matter of time before... BOOM! A tank shell shot through the thick fog of the waste land. It blew a small crater in the ground about ten feet from the actual trench. The younger men got scared and someone began firing. The younger men all followed the first shot as if it were an order and began firing blindly into the dust; the veterans knew better. Pretty soon the firing stopped as they all had to reload. While their heads were ducked down the silhouettes shown through the cloud of dust. It was like an army of darkness. That is when the real firing began. Jannis ran through the trenches, grabbing ammunition from the crates and tossing them to people as they needed them. He would reserve his ammunition until the enemy got a lot closer, that was his specialty.
The Spärtans dropped, one by one, but still more were gaining ground. In Jannis' immediate area there were three Spärtan tanks rolling through the fog. They were very low to the ground with a long barrel on top. Without air support the trench was doomed to be breached.
Jannis threw himself against the trench wall and aimed his weapon. There were Spärtan soldiers gaining ground, but also getting in his range. He smiled to himself as he squeezed the trigger. A short burt of rounds shot out from his weapon. Three or four bullets all hit a Spärtan soldier in center mass, dropping him immediately. Jannis aimed his rifle at another Spärtan, getting ready to pull the trigger. "Sargent Ozymandias! Orders from HQ!" Jannis pulled his M112 back to his chest and turned to face the voice. It was a slim man, Jannis'd seen him before, running around the base; an errand boy. "Why? They need me out here!" Jannis yelled through the howls of gunfire. The man shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know, but they specifically want you, and they want you now. Sorry." Jannis let out a grunt and nodded to him. "Okay, sir. Follow me."

Mitsuke was just beginning his meeting with his fellow soldiers. They discussed their plan of action and whom would take point. Mitsuke never took point, he is much more suited for the middle ranks. Without this plan, the scouting party would just move aimlessly through the wastes. Nathan was to be point today. He is the newest and most eager member. He definately would be the first to die. Mitsuke knew that from experience. As the meeting was coming to a close, Mitsuke was certain that this would be another boring day. Another waste of his skills. He moved with calmed speed to the small jeep and took up the position next to the gunner. The gunner today was Max. If the situation called for it, Mitsuke would have to take up the gunner position when Max fell. But until that point, he was a medic first. On days like this, he longed to just take up that position so that he could feel the breeze upon his warhardened flesh. As the vehicle begins to move, Mitsuke is lost in thought.

Kara Lynn had just returned from fixing up a nearby store owner's car. His engine had been acting rather odd, and Kara made some adjustments and tuned it up on the spot.
It had only been something minor, but the store owner had insisted on giving her quite a large sum of money. She shrugged and put the white envelope nonchalantly on Mr. Fretly's desk, and returned to the garage area. She had left a car unattended to, and although it was simple oil check, Kara wouldn't feel right until the whole thing had been completed.
Carrying her tool box in both hands, for it was a rather well-equipped and therefore heavy, Kara Lynn made a 'to do' list in her mind to organize her day.
