Out of the long list of things that needs to be fixed in this country, where does gay marriage fall? How important should gay marriage be? Should it be topic number one or placed on the back burner till this country either fixes its own problem. Further more, do you think the country is ready for gay marriage or will gay marriage turn up more uncovered homophobia?

I don't know much about politics but I do believe that the separation of church and state should make it illegal for the government to have any say in who marries who. Besides the fact that love is love and any one who has a problem with it should mind their own business.

Where I live (in Holland) gay marriages are a regular thing. I think because of the benefactors married couples get, it's directly denying people's rights if gay marriage would not be allowed. But then again, Holland is not a very religeous country. So there's no church influence in our politics. I must also add that I think the American gouvernement is supporting discrimination against gay people by seperating their rights from straight people. So the question should be: Is America ready?

I personaly believe that on the list of crap to do.... gay marriage should be like number 87. Their is just to much bull s**t in Washington to devote our selves to being able to call our boyfriends husband.

I know this makes me sound bad for the cause , however, there ARE entirely too many things wrong with this country. like education for instance Health care and other public issues After we get issues that involve the public as a who then we can start narrowing our vision to that which involves specific groups of people

I must also add that I think the American gouvernement is supporting discrimination against gay people by seperating their rights from straight people. So the question should be: Is America ready? The bad thing is that America can't take out religious beliefs because they are too proud of their choices. There are problems more important out there, but I'd like this problem to be fixed before others. Mainly because I don't understand what the problem is. Even when I didn't think about the gay world I couldn't understand why it was ever a problem. Big deal we can't have kids, is that all you're worried about? Is not having kids going to bring the U.S. to it's knees? I don't gay marring will help them kill it any faster.
If I could just have a sit down talk with these people and really get an answer about this stuff it would be great. Then I could finally get in there head.
