Ever read any of his books ? He writes whats called "urban fantasy" and he combines elements of myth and folklore from cultures all over the globe and weaves them into a seamless modern tale of magic. Hes one of my favorite authors. The last book I read by him was "Forests of the Heart"

I will say it was a bit slow to get into at first, and opens with one of the key characters of the story, Bettina. But soon the story begins to branch out into an intricate web and then bring it all back together again, each character connected to the next.

Those are my favorite kind of stories. I think any of you who really love good fantasy could enjoy him. I consider this a must read.

If you're familiar with him, or have read any of his other books lets discuss! Also I'm really looking for suggestions of similar books like this.

I love Charles de Lint. For the guild avatar contest, I did Imogene from The Blue Girl, which is one of my favorite books. His short stories are also amazing.

And just because we don't answer right away doesn't mean the guild isn't active. True, we have been slow in posting lately, but I still wouldn't consider this an inactive guild.

I need to get around to reading more of his books.
I have a constantly growing list of "must reads" that im supposed to be getting around to and its impossible to keep up. I expect to literally be reading something as long as I live. There are just too many good books out there.

As for the activity in this guild...maybe I jumped the gun, I mean I hope so. Id like to to be more like an active "conversation" instead of posting a topic and waiting a day or two for a reply etc etc.

Books keep me sane. Sort of. And even then it a happy sort of insanity. I'm the proud president of the Literary Club at my school. (We only have five members; it's so sad. crying )

Back on topic, I just had a great idea. I'm going to suggest we read a de Lint book for our next book of the month for Literary Club. Hmmm...which one would you suggest?
