Terren, son of Daius of the hunting party, roamed the woods that bordered the kingdom of Century, and separated it from the kingdom of Were. He crept silently, watching, listening, for any sign of one of those creatures from the other land.
A twig snap nearby alerted Terren to the predator approaching. He readied his hand axe and swung hard, connecting with the wolf, between the shoulder blades. The animal whined and yelped, but was paralyzed by the blow. Terren pulled the axe back, chopping down on the beasts neck, and killing it.

Terren stepped out of the woods, and back into Century. He walked to his home, near the southern woods bordering the kingdom. His sister sat on the porch, probably waiting for him.
"I wish you wouldn't spend so much time out in the woods, Terren. If anything ever happened to you I would probably never know." she said as she stood up.
"Don't worry about me, Ella. Nothing is going to happen to me out in the woods. I'm a hunter, worry for those beasts that cross into the woods. They are the ones that are in trouble." he replied with a grin. He went inside the house and found his grandmother in her rocking chair, as she always was. The woman that had raised Terren and Ella was now being taken care of by her grandchildren, and she barely knew who they were.
Terren hung up his cloak and his axe and headed into the kitchen to scape together the remnants of the dinner his family had eaten hours earlier. Luckily for him, there was just enough left over to calm his hunger.
He helped his sister put their grandmother to bed, and they separated ways, going to their own rooms. Eventually he was overcome by sleep, but he had troubling dreams of monsters howling in the woods. He awoke only a few hours later. The house was quiet, but he was uneasy.
Terren gathered his cloak and axe, and headed back into the border woods.

The woods were dark and almost silent. The thoughts of the beasts in the woods would not release Terren's mind. His eyes darted over his surroundings as he soundlessly slipped thought the woods, ever cautious and determined that he would have the upper hand if he encountered one of them tonight.
There was a soft rustle and he could hear voices. As he came upon the clearing he saw them, a man and a cloaked woman, embracing in the grass. Their words were muffled. The man turned his head to where Terren stood, and he caught sight of the creature's gleaming silver eyes. Slowly, the man and woman rose to their feet. The man was coming towards Terren, and the woman turned away to run, but seemed frozen in her place.
Terren lept out from his cover behind the trees, slashing the beast across the throat. It tried to speak, but all that came out was a gurgle as it's blood filled it's lungs. The woman started to run, so Terren hurled his axe, catching her in the back. She fell to the ground.
Terren took his time, watching the male wolf die slowly, strangled by his own blood, before he went over to the fallen woman to be sure she was dead, and to retrieve his weapon. The hood of her cloak and fallen, revealing her light auburn hair under the moonlight. With one glance Terren realized that he had killed his own sister. He withdrew his axe from her, and headed home.

In the morning Terren came out of his bedroom to find his grandmother crying.
"What's wrong, mama?" Terren asked softly. The old woman looked up at him.
"Your sister was found this morning in the woods. She and a Were found together, slaughtered. Someone killed my little girl. Who could do such a thing?!" she whimpered.
"Must have been a renegade." replied Terren.
