Every forum needs a picture thread. You can post funny pictures that you've collected, or pictures of yourself/family, pictures of your new hairstyle, pictures of your loverly dragons, your personal art...whatever you want to show off.

I think I'll break the ice with what I think is funny!

And not to be left out, are Snickers and Henry. Can you tell we named our cats after candy bars?

Here's a shot of our dog, Patch. He looks like he's deep in thought, but don't let him fool you. wink

Now I just need to find pictures of our other two dogs, Ginger and Meekay.

Six cats, Maeve DragonHeart?! I feel like I have my hands full with just one and my ferret.

Do they ever fight? How did you introduce them to one another?

Please just call me Maeve smile
Yes, 6 cats. My parents just really love animals, and there a lot of cats outside near our house, and when winter come, my parents take care of the cats that don't have a home (but they don't want any other animals now, don't know why... wink ).
Normally, when we adopt a new cat, we isolate it for a week or 2, just to be sure it isn't sick. Then we let the other cats come near the new one, just for a couple of minutes, and gradually let the new cat explore the rest of the house, until we feel like we can leave them all together without trouble.
They sometimes fight, but not that much and not too hard. biggrin

Maybe we should have called this the pet thread. Well, now for a little something different. A taste of Fall from my neck of the woods.

Maeve,
Have you noticed that your Mistigriz and my Snickers look like they are related?

Your pets are adorable heather flower! I've always loved ferrets to death. I had to give my poor Cocoa to another family because I didn't have the time to care for her properly =( Oh also, do you have any advice to train young kits to stop play nipping your heels?

I love ferrets, too. Though I've been considering finding my Rambo a new home, too. I just feel like I'm not giving him the amount of attention he deserves, and I really miss having a dog. That, and I'm not looking forward to when he gets older. I already had one ferret have to be put down; I'm not looking forward to having to deal with the same thing with Rambo.

When it comes to training kits not to n**, there are two main things I did. One is to distract them with other toys that they ARE allowed to bite. If you keep them busy enough with other things, they completely forget about biting your feet. The second is to buy a spray, of which there are several brands, and spray it on whatever you don't want them to bite (for instance, your feet or hands). The stuff has a REALLY nasty taste which discourages them from biting.

I use the spray VERY sparingly. If you happen to accidentally taste any of it yourself (as I have) you'll find that the stuff is DISGUSTING. Absolutely horrible. There's a reason the ferrets don't like it. I have also heard that if you use it too much, the animal can actually get used to it and it won't work like it should. The directions on the bottle I got say to spray directly on the ferret when they're biting something bad, but I wouldn't dream of doing that since I got a taste of the stuff myself. Just putting it on what you don't want them to bite seems to be enough.

Hope that helps!
