I almost exclusively buy knee socks.

I buy them at hot topic, torrid and walmart mostly...

After I've worn a pair for long enough to get holes in the footsy part or if I loose on half of the pair........It's arm warmers/legwarmers/gloves time!!!!!!!!!!

yay!!!!!!

I start by cutting the full foot off. so basically what I'm left with is a long tube.
then If the footsy part is not holey (ie I lost the other sock) I stick my hand in it in a fist and then I cut slits for my fingers to stick out....(hooray fingerless gloves!!!!) then if I'm making arm warmers I cut a hole for my thumb to stick out near one end of the remaining long tube............

no.... I'm not meaning to insult your intelligence in the making of these items.....I have friends at work who ask me all the time how I got those armwarmers and where. I mostly made them...... I will post pix at a later time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, children's pants (I use 5T), cut the legs off at the widest part, and flip them upside down to use as leg warmers. heart whee The TJ Maxx & JC Penney near here have very cute fleece PJS for little kids in cute patterns, that are also VERY warm cute leg warmers! heart

Thanks for the tip on making leg warmers out of kid pants! That is a really great idea! Normally I just knit or crotchet my leg warmers but I think i'll try that instead!
