In case he didnt get it yet or someone else needs more
1.) Watch people ollie until you are sick of it (The eyes view is the minds view. when ur on the board you will think of what you saw because there isnt anything else to think about but your own view which isnt going to help you unless its right.
2.)understand what happens. Your popping the tail because the nose has to go up. Your sliding your front foot up the instance the tail pops so the griptape takes traction and allows the board to become airborne. (Don't worry about how you land)
3.)Practice and patience. DOn't get angry its not like youll never get it. Its like kung fu your body gets used to it and then you are able. Just practice the motions without actually trying. Even when you are in your house without your board just jump up and act out what you'd do. High jumps help practice. Where you push off with one leg jumping into the air and the other leg's knee goes as high as it cans but the jumping leg stays straight. Same motion except on a skateboard you'll retract the jumping leg but that you'll easily change. But practice retracting both legs anyway just make sure the front does it long before the back foot does thats how you'll know ur timing is somewhat better than not doing it at all.
4.)get an adrenaline rush that helps me so much.
Other stuff:
Great thing about trying learn ollies are:
you'll learn other tricks before you learn the ollie just because you kept messing up.
I bet you'll end up railing, doing kickflips, impossibles, and varials by mistake before you actually do the ollie. That happened to me and now i wish itd happen again but once you learn the ollie you wont be able to any of them again until you actually learn how the tricks are performed.
Just clear your mind and keep the stoke.
