A little red-haired, green-eyed, freckle-faced angel stood on the pier facing the Bay of Cortez. At least, that was what he had been informed that it was called. Just as he had been told that this place, this city, was called Junia. That was as much as he had learned so far, but he was trying to learn more simply by watching. Observing. That was the tiny angel's main way of learning, since he didn't speak more than he wished to, or ask unnecessary questions.
He had been requested to stay on this particular pier and wait for his Mother to return. She had just run off to check on something, and had promised to return quickly. Silvrendir had no doubt that she would: she had never broken a promise to him before, and he knew that she worried about him when they weren't together.
Just as he knew she worried about his siblings when they weren't with her either.
The sea breeze ruffled his messy hair, and he inhaled it deeply. He liked that smell. It reminded him of something. He wasn't quite certain what it was, but whatever it was, it was peaceful. He knew there were people walking past the shore end of the pier, he could hear them; but he wasn't paying them any attention. He didn't need to. He was happy where he was, doing what he was. Which was simply staring out at the water, waiting for his mother, aunt, and grandmother to come find him again.
Or rather, for his mother to find him again, and for his aunt and grandmother to join up with them. It was the family's first trip to Patr, and Silvrendir, though he didn't show it, was excited to learn all that he could about this land.

From the crowd a trio came wandering out of it towards the pier, they were a bit more well dressed than most people. This was a new coutnry completely, and they wished not to stand out in this world. As Kara had always done, they were dressed for the area they were in, she wore a light green petitecoat over her white underdress and had a blue cloak drapped over her shoulders to blend in with the humans here.
She tighty held the hand of Yukiko, who was now her youngest child, the normal kinomo Yuki normally wore was replaced by an icy blue dress with puffed short sleeves that went to her shoulders. Kara was not sure if Yukiko's normal attire would make her stand out and diecded to play it safe. She knew very little about this country, and had never heard of it until Yuki came along.
"Silvrendir!" Kara called out seeing the boy there.

Silvrendir heard a very familiar voice calling out his name, but he waited a moment, savouring the scent of the salty sea air, before he turned around to see his aunt and grandmother approaching him. He said nothing, but smiled warmly and raised one hand, waving it enthusiastically to greet his family. Then he lowered his arm and skipped along the pier to run to them, his bare feet slapping against the wood rhythmically.
From behind Kara and Yukiko, another face appeared: a tall elven woman with dusky skin and long black hair. Elnara was dressed neatly as well, in a high-cut dark red dress with gold trim and her spidersilk cloak. She ran ahead of the others to scoop up her youngest son, laughing softly and nuzzling his nose before putting him back down on the ground so that he could walk again.
"What have you been up to?" she asked him brightly, smiling down at him.
Silvrendir grinned and pointed back at the pier, his green eyes growing brighter as if telling her a silent message.
Elnara smiled and ruffled his hair, then glanced down at her adopted mother. "What do you think?" she asked cheerfully. "Shall we see what he was looking at?" It was after all their first visit to this world as well, and they might as well explore and find out what it was all about with the children.

Kara giggled and nodded, "I don't see why not, it has been a long while since I've seen the sea, or a sea of any sort," she murmured to Elnara.
Beside her Yukiko peered out from under her mother's cloak, curiously at all the passing people. There were just too many people out here, which was saying something since her family was quite big. In fact, Silvrendir was part of her family, her nephew, though she could never think of him as such. Perhaps like a cousin, but not a nephew.
"Look?" she questioned.

"I don't think I ever have," Elnara admitted, "even with all the wandering I did. Thinking about it now, I should have - Mother of course has memories connected with the sea; but be that as it may it never crossed my mind."
Silvrendir grinned and beckoned for the others to follow him, then ran ahead back down the pier he had just evacuated, his feet slapping against the planks once more. The further out he went, the stronger the smell of the salty air became, and he breathed more and more deeply - not because he was exhausted from his running, he was quite energetic - but to enjoy it the better.
"Fish!" he squealed, clapping his hands excitedly as a large, pink fish jumped out of the water next to where he was running. It splashed him with water when it landed, spattering him and making him giggle again. He turned around and waved to his family again. "Come!" he called, his tone insistent, his eyes bright.

Yukiko pattered out from under her mother's cloak to get a better look at these fish, that Silvrendir was pointing out to them. She had seen fish though her mer siblings did not count, but they had pet fish too. She stood at the edge of the pier, kneeling down to look over the edge, her long hair dangling over.
"Fishy?" she inquired.
"It's nice, when the weather is good, but places to the coast have the most vicious storms majrity of the time," Kara replied, "I don't care to be near there during the storm season."

"No, I would imagine not," Elnara agreed. "It's really not nice to be in a lot of areas during storm season." She looked around curiously. "I wonder if there's a storm season here," she murmured thoughtfully.
Silvrendir knelt down beside Yukiko and pointed down at the now-calm water. "It went under the water," he grinned. "Let's wait for it to come back again!" He giggled and lay flat on his stomach, peering over the edge with just his eyes and the top of his head showing.

"What kind of fishy is it?" Yukiko wondered aloud as she tired to catch a glimpse of this creature.
She wondered if it was like the fishies back home, or was it the type that they ate. Yuki leaned closer, watching the shadows on the surface. Her little wings fluttering as she was tilting her balancing towards the water.
"I have no clue, I've never been here before, and all of this is quite curious," Kara admitted, "Yukiko! Not so close to the water!"
Now was not the time to be dragging an angel out of the water.

"I don't know," Silvrendir admitted, tugging Yukiko back from the edge of the pier so that she wouldn't fall in. At least, he tried: she was just as big as him, if not bigger, so he wasn't exactly successful; but that didn't stop him from trying.
It made him wonder, though, just what kind of fish were here. They had koi back home - maybe he should ask Mama if they could put some koi in the fountain at the cafe - but other than that the only fish he had seen were the ones he ate sometimes for dinner.
Elnara watched the two angels with trepidation, but she replied to Kara, "I find it interesting that we both just happened to find some feathers that just happened to be angels, and that they come from a world just like the Seconds do. How did we end up with the feathers in the first place? Where did they come from? Why were we the ones to end up with them? Why were they in Gaia and not this world?" She shrugged. "Curious is a word that only skims the surface of their existence."

"Well..." Kara looked thoughtful, "Yukiko was found by Donovan, he just gave me her feather as a gift," she giggled, "So she was probably meant more for him than for me, but you know how he is. Otherwise I do not know, there are... many types of angels, but maybe somewhere around here will tell us something."
Though she was willing to let things lie as they were, feathers, angels, the like were not unusual and fate did pretty strange things at times.
Yukiko shuffled back a bit even though she didn't know why, she didn't really have a fear of falling in, she just wanted to see what these fishies were like. She just didn't want to make Silvrendir worry.
"Do you think we'll see very big fishies?"

Silvrendir shook his head at Yukiko and raised one arm, pointing out over the Bay. "Out there is where the big ones are," he told her. "These ones are a little bit big but not that big."
Another fish jumped right in front of them, this one nearly as big as the two of them, and Silvrendir giggled as it splashed him yet again. "Silly fish," he grinned, wiping the water from his freckled face. He turned and looked at Yukiko. "Do you want to go to the end of the pier and see the really big ones?" he asked her eagerly. "They're big like ships!"
Elnara smiled at Kara. "I'm sorry, it's just my insatiable curiosity getting the best of me again. Don't question the miracle, right?" She glanced at the children, who were on their stomachs on the pier. "I wonder what they're looking for," she mused, seeing that Silvrendir was pointing out over the Bay.

"Really big?" Yukiko tried to look out, she couldn't imagine a fish being as big as ships.
Hurrying to her feet she nodded at Silvrendir excitedly.
"Yes! Please, can we go see?" she asked of him.
"Maybe they saw something interesting in the water," Kara suggested, "None of the children had been near a large body of water like this one, at least not one that had ships," she smiled softly, "So this would have been a new experience for everyone."

Silvrendir nodded eagerly and took Yukiko's hand, tugging her towards the end of the pier where he had been standing earlier. He was certain he had seen fish - or fishlike creatures - as big as the ships that were sailing out of the Bay.
Of course, he saw no reason to answer Yukiko as such. She had asked two questions: Can we see? Which was answered by his actions, and Really big? Which he was about to show her. So he didn't say anything, just dragged her to the end of the pier.
"Myself included," Elnara laughed. "Ironic, really, since my grandfather is - or was - a shipwright." She started after the children, wondering what was going on now.

Yukito blinked as she followed Silvrendir towards the end of the pier. NOt that she could help it since he was tugging on her hand. She lifted up her skirt a bit so she would not trip on it as she went. While the dress was pretty, it was not at all convivent for running around in.
Kara followed since Yukiko was with Silver in the first place, she smiled thoughtfully at that.
"A shipwright hmm? I don't think I've been a on a ship in a long time."

Silvrendir tugged Yukiko all the way to the end of the pier, then stopped and pointed out over the Bay, grinning broadly. His green eyes sparkled like the sun reflecting off the waves as he pointed out the large ships what were out in the water. Suddenly, there was a spray of water and a large, fish-like creature appeared. "See?" he cried, clapping his hands excitedly.
Elnara smiled at Kara. "Perhaps we should take the kids sometime. It looks as if there are a lot of ships here." She looked around, beyond the Bay and beyond the limits of the city, her keen elven eyes taking in more than most eyes could. "Although I have to admit it would be interesting to see the other areas of this world as well ... the forests, especially."
