my target gift card came in the mail today so I'll soon have a mini glue gun in my possesion. which means more crafty ideas from me. mostly involveing candy. since its lamsot christmas time ,most of you are probably use to seeing the little candy trains made from lifesavers and other candies and glued to gether. Iplan on making awhole train set for christmis and selling that as well as candy houshes . so much to do so much candy to buy.
have anyof you ever worked with candy as a craft?
have any interesing ideads you want to try or see done? then post away (first time working with candy as acraft item)

Mlkkl o.O sculpting using candy? That's new to me.... I have seen cake sculpting using fondant. not exactly what i meant but more like craeting objects like trains and such while the candy is still in the packaage and using a hot glue gun to keep it together. while the candy inside the packaage can still be edible>_>

I haven't exactly made crafts per-se with candy but I take the time to decorate my cookies with lots of designs and icing decorations.
Also with chocolate you can do all sorts of stuff like mold candies then dip them in different colours.
If I were to make craft items with 'food', the train idea sounds cute so I could probably try that. Maybe I would make chocolates, wrap them, then glue them together.
@kiersin
Ahhh don't use a microwave for chocolate!
Use a double-boiler (or a glass bowl in a pot - what I use to melt chocolate) and slowly melt the chocolate. Chocolate burns ridiculously easily and it takes only 2 mins for perfect chocolate to be rendered unusable.
To melt chocolate properly: - Find a pot that will house a nice glass bowl comfortably and that bowl does not sit on the bottom of the pot.
- Fill the pot with water so that when the bowl sits in the pot, the water comes up to probably 1/3 of the bowl (or 1/2 of the bowl if you have a lot of chocolate to melt)
-Turn the burner on medium heat, and let the water start bubbling without the bowl in the pot yet.
-Turn off the burn when the water just starts to have bubbles at the bottom and stick the bowl in with the chocolate
-Now your chocolate will start melting. Stir it around often to get it all evenly melted.
-If your chocolate doesn't melt all the way and it's not hot enough anymore, put the pot back on the burner (with the bowl in the pot) and turn on the heat again really low. The lowest it will go.
- Continue until chocolate is evenly melted. Do not 'over-melt'.
When you're chocolate starts to burn it will form ugly little clumps. Also, chocolate that is too old won't even melt properly. Make sure you use chocolate that isn't too old...
Hope this helps if you ever decide to look at this thread again XP

Most creative I've gotten with candy is making character cookies for Christmas and pre-packaged Gingerbread houses. xd
Although those pretzals were good... Pretzal sticks covered in frosting with bits of crushed peppermint candy. <3!

That sounds like a really cute idea. I like the fact your keeping them in their wrappers, I think the wrappers often add quite a bit to the over all look of the candy. Please post pictures if you do make little trains and things, I'd love to coo over them. whee
Incidently I've misplaced my hot glue gun. gonk

I like making candy flowers. Usually out of fruit candy. Sometimes out of chocolate or frosting.
Someday, when i get money, more kitchen space, and more guts and free time, I'm going to work with sugar glass.
