It's amazing how things change in such a small amount of time. Even those of us who are still considered young can remember how different things were when we were growing up. So here's a "Remember when" thread to reminisce and discuss how things used to be.

I remember when floppy discs were really floppy. And to play a game on the computer you had to put the disc in, type commands in at the command line to get the program to run, and then you could play the game using only the keyboard because the computer didn't even have a mouse.

I remember those days Madame DF.

I also remember when a record was an LP and not a CD. I still find myself referring to the newest release of an artist as the album and not the CD.

I don't remember those myself, though I did have my own little record player growing up which I just loved. And recording my voice on one of those things from the Home Alone movie....

You don't remember albums? Well, then I guess you've never seen an 8 track cassette have you?

My parents had a few 8-tracks, but I've never actually seen one in use. sweatdrop

I do remember the turbo button on the computer, though. It would make it go SO fast... and the game that had the best graphics was Lemmings.

I remember the donation letters only costing 3k as well. And the only/major way of getting any amount of gold was to post in the forums.

I remember when gas was .89 a gallon, when 'hell', 'sh*t', and '*ss' were censored on tv, and when jeans buttoned just under the belly-button. I also remember when little-kid cartoons like Rainbow Brite and My Little Pony actually had plots.

I also remember when the prettiest art was done by hand. Curse digital art programs, anyway.

Even better, I remember when anime and roleplaying was underground. Bad things happen when the good stuff goes mainstream.

You know, they say our generation has been conditioned to solve all problems by blowing on them. Example: VCRs and VHS tapes, Nintendo and Genesis cartridge games, and of course, iodine coated scrapes.

Mine certainly do. I have an NES, Sega Genesis, Sega Dreamcast, Super NES, PS2, Wii, Gameboy Advance SP, Nintendo DS Lite (x2), all in great working order and condition.

I was just playing a few snake-type games, and I was wondering how many of you have played the original snake game. It was barely two-dimensional, with a rectangle yellow snake on a blue background, with yellow barriers and obstacles. I think what the snake was eating was green numbers. My dad and I used to spend hours playing it; I think it had a two-player version, where you were actually working together. What I remember most about it was that the snake was thin or thick depending on which direction you were going, and the obstacles took that into account, with thin or thick openings you had to get through. That game was crazy... I miss it..

these are all great smile i remember peeking behind the stereo speakers at my mom's Elvis 8track's, and i myself had a toy record player. I remeber when McDonald's toy's were actually worth playing with, and not super cheap junk, gong to the penny candy and getting those dots of icing stuck to a strip of paper. I remember when cd first came out, when the internet first came out, and not knowing what those little X's in the top hand corner did.

Hey, I remember those candy dots too. Trying to get the dots off without the paper sticking to them.
