The purple-hided creature sagged in relief as the large fire wyrm went into retreat, vanishing quickly into the rain-drenched night. That had been too close a call for comfort by a long shot. That would teach him to assume he was by far the toughest wyrm around. That would teach him to let his pride run away with him. Panting in exhaustion, the hybrid wyrm turned from his semi-victory and limped over to small shape that lay slumped against a tree.
Whining softly, the ruddy-eyed wyrm bent down and licked the unconscious gnome's face. He was bleeding, the fire-backed creature noted with a pang of guilt. Internally cursing himself for being a brash, impulsive idiot, the battered wyrm rolled his companion onto his back and lent closer to inspect the damage. A ragged cut on the left side of the gnome's temple was spotted and licked clean; presumably this has come from being thrown against the tree and was responsible for the bard's unconsciousness. Besides that, the mixed blood couldn't see anything that was too worrying; a few minor cuts and burns, easily cleaned once the hybrid had torn away what remained of the blond's shirt.
Still running off a stream of mental curses at his own arrogance and thanking all powers that the fire creature had been to intent on him to do any worse to his bonded, Angetenar tried licking the still form's face again. Though the grey-skinned man did not so much as stir a finger, the ruddy-eyed wyrm felt a weak twitch from the silver chord that linked him mind with the bard's. Sighing out a relieved breath, the half-shadow creature reached out with a forefoot and scooped his friend up off the ground. After a few moments of glancing around, the hybrid set off awkwardly through the rain on three rather sore legs for the shelter of a nearby cave.

A pair of blue eyes stared out into the rainstorm, wondering briefly how close they had been to being caught in it. They had reached a sheltered cave before it had started to downpour, and the hybrid was grateful for that. "Alyra, come here. I need help lighting this blasted thing..." Twisting her serpentine body, she faced her Bonded. Lehava was crouched over a small pile of tinder, her hands gave off a dim red glow. The Fire/Wind hybrid slid her way over next to her Bonded. Inhaling deeply, the flames along her spine flared up before a bundle of hot fire flew from her mouth, hitting the pile of wood.
The pyro sat back, brushing away dark red locks to stare at her hands, bewildered. Alyra moved, again, to her Bonded's side, giving her a small wing hug. "It's alright. The wood was wet." She offered as a small comfort, before looking out at the rain again.

Almost in the cave's entrance, Angetenar froze; a flash of fire had caught his attention. Cussing to himself, the dark-bodied wyrm hop-skipped back so that he was sheltered from any eyes which might have been peering out. Setting his friend's still body down on the ground, the hybrid tried to see inside the sheltering cavern. Was this some ally of the male he'd just sent packing?... Possible, but not likely; surely if he'd had a friend nearby the fire wyrm would have called for them once things started to go against him.
Stretching his neck a little further rewarded the anxious dragon with a glimpse of a serpentine body crested with fire. So, a hybrid like himself then and a red-headed biped with... her? Yes, it was a female wyrm.
So, he could stand out here in the rain and the cold or go inside. Standing out here might remove the chance of another conflict, but it would further drain his already near spent strength and wouldn't do his injured bonded any good at all; he knew very well how easily the tiny creature lost heat at the best of times. Choice pretty much made for him, the hybrid scooped his miniature friend up once more and hobbled awkwardly into view.
Feeling very exposed, Angetenar cleared his throat. "Umm... Hi there... Could we come in please? It's kinda cold and wet out here..." Well that had sounded stupid, and he probably looked stupid too. All covered in cuts and trying to stand on three legs with the fourth leg occupied with holding a motionless humanoid who barely managed to be over two feet from head to toe.
If they laughed, he was going to kill them.

At the sound, both Alyra and Lehava focused their attention to the cave's entrance. Lehava rose to her feet, while Alyra studied the newcomers. The wyrm was a hybrid like herself, that she could figure out.
Before she could answer, Lehava had done so. "We've more then enough room. Would you, err... like some help with him?" She had been hesitant on asking, having met more then her share of wyrms with major ego problems.

The purple-scaled creature paused, experiencing a rare moment of uncertainty. The bipedal woman seemed unthreatening, as did her wyrm companion and this really was awkward... "Thanks, and yes, please," the ruddy-eyed wyrm managed eventually, setting his friend down in the cave's mouth and taking half a pace backwards. "Kinda difficult walking on three legs..." He mumbled as an afterthought, dipping his head to the side awkwardly. If his brown-eyed bonded were awake, the hybrid considered, he would be telling him to do something right about now but for a moment or two what this was eluded him.
Soon however, in a flash of not-so-brilliance, it came to him. "I'm Angetenar and uh," he glanced down at the slumped shape by his feet for a moment before looking away again with another surge of guilt. "And that's Beetle. We... uh... there was a... a disagreement with a fire wyrm out there and... Yea. Thanks again, really; don't know where else I would've found shelter tonight."
Although the invitation to step inside had been clear, the striped hybrid lingered uncertainly in the entrance, waiting for the red-haired woman to take his bonded inside before taking shelter himself. All his stupid fault; why was it that he still did singularly stupid things like this? Feeling very young, very brash and very, very guilty, Angetenar wished he had an answer to that question.

Alyra watched carefully as her Bonded grew closer, carefully picking up the small man and bringing him closer to the small fire. She watched Lehava as the pyro started to look at Beetle's wounds, before turning her head towards the wyrm. "A pleasure, Angetenar. I am Alyra, and this," she gestured over to her Bonded with a red/orange wing. "is Lehava. Did you say that you got into a fight with a fire wyrm?" The hybrid tried to remain calm, but the image of her father had rose into her mind...
Lehava, who had been listening in while she looked at Beetle's wounds, shook her head as she stood. "Alyra, let him at least come in and warm himself up. We don't need any fights right now." She shrugged off her cloak, laying it over the other hybrid's bonded's body. "that should keep him warm 'til he wakes up." She looked up, offering a hostess' smile to Angetenar. "Your more then welcome to come closer and get warm yourself."

Angetenar bobbed his head to the introductions, stepping inside gratefully when the offer to do so was repeated. "Yea," he said after a moment, sinking down beside his friend and sighing deeply. "It was stupid," he went on with a shake of his head, "he was going on about... Oh I don't know; impure blood or something like that? I could've ignored him but, well, I didn't; I picked a fight and it didn't go quite like I planned. I mean I won in the end but..." The scaled creature glanced down at his pale-skinned bonded, noting that the cut was still oozing blood. Some of it had tricked back to stain a patch of the gnome's blond hair red. "But not as decisively as I might've hoped," he concluded, raising his gaze back to the hybrid and her bonded.
"Thanks again," Angetenar said after a momentary pause, "I'm sorry if this is your territory or something, we're just passing through and we'll be gone once Beet's okay..." He would be okay, right? In all the years he'd known the grey bard he hadn't seen him really hurt; the pale-haired man was very conscientious about not getting himself damaged.
He shouldn't have picked that fight, definitely shouldn't have asked his friend's help. If the gnome had stayed out of it, the fire wyrm probably wouldn't have bothered to hurt him.
Fighting to keep himself from keening like a hatching, the purple-hided wyrm looked back up at his hostesses. "Sorry," he mumbled vaguely, "I'm just..." An idiot, an egomaniac, an impulsive little twerp, "worried."

The pair listened, as Alyra remained stationary as her bond began rummaging in her bag for something. Alyra was the most attentive, listening to their story as if something depended on it. No, that wasn't her father... She seemed downcast for a brief moment, before letting the emotion slip away.
"Your welcome. But this isn't our territory. We're sort of... nomads, if you will." Her azure eyes turned to her bond as Lehava stood with a small bottle in one hand, walking around to where Angetenar and Beetle were.
"I'm... sorry for all that happened, with him and all." Lehava gestured down to the unconscience gnome. She raised the hand that held the bottle, putting it in plain sight. "I didn't make this. A friend of mine did, who's a qualified healer. It's a salve that might help that nasty cut on his forehead, and help it heal faster. Would you mind if I put some on?"

Angetenar gave a wry grin and shook his head. "No, that's fine; thank you. Oh, thank you for pandering to my paranoia too," he added, the smile becoming slightly realer as he remembered his friend's analogy for gnome-kind in general. "I expect he'll be okay," the hybrid went on with a slight nod. "Beet told me that gnomes are like cockroaches; small, seldom seen by humans and damn difficult to kill. Still, can't help being paranoid, y' know?" Now perhaps he understood why his grey-skinned friend disliked his penchant for battledome fights; sense didn't seem to come into it much when you saw your opposite hurt.
"We're wanderers as well," the hybrid offered after a moment, hoping to start up a more cheering conversation. "Seem to wander across a heck of a lot of people that get pissy with you for walking on a piece of dirt they've laid claim to. Seems a bit silly to me but... well, each to their own I guess. Funnily enough though, people seem to have become less aggressive with me as I've grown up." The hybrid grinned at the two females. "I wonder why that could be?" he asked rhetorically, shuffling backwards a little to let Lehava get close enough to use the healing salve.

Lehava smiled, as she kneeled down next to Beetle. "Paranoia is alright. Your actually taking this whole thing rather well. I know some would have nearly lost their mind if this sort of thing happened to them." She looked up at Alyra, who in turn sent her a look. Lehava looked back down to pay attention to her work. She wiped away the blood that gathered on his forehead, before applying the salve.
Alyra watched her bond for a moment, before grinning back at Angetenar. "We've had our share of problems as well." She shook her head, and grinned. "Amazing how after you get bigger and show off some power, a lot of those problems seem to go away.."

Angetenar watched the red-headed woman's hands intently, relieved to see that she seemed to have a good idea of what she was about. If only he could learn some healing magic to go along with his ability to drain life; he could never hope to do what the human, was she human?, was doing right now. Hands, those were the things to have. Still, there was nothing to be done about it. This decided, the hybrid tuned himself back in to the conversation.
"Yea," he said after a moment, grinning once more. "I guess if you're paranoid, you're less likely to loose your companion and as to the power things, gotta agree with you. There's a lot of people out there with plenty of bark, but fewer with the bite to back it up so when they see somebody who actually has it... well, they back down or just outright run away." He loved it when that happened; it was what he'd been half expecting from the fire wyrm. Still, things didn't always turn out how you planned them and by the looks of things nothing too bad would come of his mistake. Though his bonded was pallid and disturbingly still, his breathing had stayed even and that had to be a good sign...
"Still," the purple wyrm said eventually with a crooked smile to the two females, "if he doesn't wake up pretty soon you might yet have to deal with me freaking out. If that’s the case, I apologise in advance."

Having applied the salve evenly, Lehava pulled a bandage wrap from her bag. She carefully wrapped it around his head, trying not to shake him up. Lehava finushed quickly, making sure to tie it snug but not too tight. The bandages would make sure the salve stayed on the wound, an help the healing process much better. She had been drifting in and out of their conversation while working, and her eyes drifted up towards Angetenar. "As long as you don't try to kill us, you're allowed to freak out." She eyed his numerous scrapes and scratches. The fire user stood, getting a good look at the male hybrid's wounds. Angetenar was at least a good two feet taller then her, the small woman wasn't going to complain right now. "Would you like me to dress those, too?"
The Fire/Wind hybrid nodded again, shifting to recoil herself. "When something you love is in danger, you tend to think much clearer then when it is just yourself in danger." She tucked her bronzed wings at her sides, a small grin finding it's way to her features. "Go ahead. Everyone needs to just lose it once in a while. It helps get the stress out."

Angetenar grinned lopsidedly at the other hybrid and gave a bob of his head. "Maybe I will, in a bit, I'm kinda tired right now though, and sore." So saying he turned his attention back to the red-headed biped. "If you would," he replied with a grateful smile. "Don't want them getting infected or something."
Beetle would eat his face, figuratively, if he was so caught up in worry that he forgot to look after himself. The grey bard's rants were few and far between, in the seventeen years or so they'd been together he'd seen maybe three or four, but they were very impressive when they did come around. Probably something to do with having a large lung capacity and an excellent sense of the dramatic, the hybrid considered and he inspected a gash on his right foreleg.

Lehava nodded, before observing one of the more serious wounds. She turned her head to the side, gazing at it. "This one will be okay. I can apply medicine and wrap it, but you'll have to move less with it on. Or else your scales will more then likely tear it off." She glanced up at the hybrid, before getting to work. The rain had cleanse it good enough, so she didn't have to worry about that... Lehava took a bit of salve into her hand, instantly warming the thick substance to a state in which she could easily applicate it. Gingerly, she covered the wounds, before beginning to wrap them up delicately. All the while, her crimson eyes flickered from her work, to the wyrm's face to see if she was being too rough at any given moment.
The serpentine wyrm nodded once more, understanding. "Rest up. I think we still have a little bit of food left, if you need energy." Alyra settled down, watching her Bonded work. Her body remained fluid and relaxed, when most any other wyrm would've been tense as hell with their Bonded so close to a strange wyrm. But, that was just in Alyra's nature to be so trustful right off from the start, and so far it hadn't come to haunt her yet.

Angetenar gave a contented rumbled as the biped finished her work and flashed her a grateful smile. "Thanks," he said aloud, "I feel better already..." Food... Supplies, bags, rain. Damn. The hybrid’s smile turned to a rueful grin. “Uuh... actually we ahve stuff but it’s kinda... outside.” He peered out at the weather. “Guess I should go get it,” he mumbled, a frown crossing his face.
Though everything that would be damaged by the rain was wrapped in waterproof hides and such he just knew they’d leak if he didn’t go out and fetch everything in. On the other hand, he hurt and nice as these two people seemed, he couldn’t stand the idea of leaving his motionless bonded’s side just yet.
“Maybe later,” he decided, giving the two females another grin.
