So what's your style's way of shading? Black outline, dark edges, light form a side or corner, no shading at all?
Mine will change dependant on what I'm drawing. Usually my sprites are shaded with light from above. I suppose light from an upper corner would show depth better, but I like my shading to be symetrical.

'Pa kristi flesk vi spytter!'
La det ratne! I'm definitely a fan of asymmetrical shading to give a more offset appearance along with black outlines where applicable. The style obviously differentiates between sprites. Usually I like to have a light source to the upper left or right, never from under or straight ahead.
Anywhere from 4 to 6 colors per part. Three for flesh. 'Et symbol pa barmhjertighetens bortgang!'
Et skuespill der endes!

I suck at shading, but right now I'm Souleaterf's student. =/
I'm trying to work on cel-shading for the DM, but all fails so far. >___>
So, other than that, I try to shade.
