I'd post this in another guild but they keep sending me PMs threatening to ban me if I keep lurking when I post, the irony of that doesn't escape me but whatever, I need to get this off my chest, so here goes.
It seems that just about all my favorite forms of online entertainment are either shutting down or selling out. No, not porn. I'm talking of online comics and flash cartoons. Well I'm only going to focus on 2 in particular, because these 2 have polished themselves into a gleaming jewel of s**t and whoring.
First up: Megatokyo. Of the people that read megatokyo, about 65% of them are contemplating sending me hateful PMs and littering my profile with slandering comments right now. Here's why: Fred's fans are a bunch of twittering idiots that defend him because they fell for his "I'm so pathetic, I just absolutely suck as an artist" bullshit. Fred has one of the most popular webcomics on the internet and I can't understand why because he doesn't update it worth s**t. Seriously, I can read a comic of megatokyo and come back 10 days later and the same comic is still on the front page, with some twitty little excuse in his "progress bar" saying how pathetic he is and how he doesn't like character a's hair in panel 3 or some stupid bullshit. But if I'm to take that progress bar seriously, then he doesn't work on his comics till the day of, since that's the only time it updates.
I honestly liked megatokyo to begin with, it was funny and quirky, and actually updated the promised 3 days a week. Then Fred "updated his art style" making most of his female characters bland and generic looking (Honestly, I cannot tell who half of the underage love interests are, they look the ******** same.) and trying to give it a shojo manga appearance, which generally fails because the level of shading and detail involved in said manga requires more time than a thrice weekly updated comic can provide. But he still takes the required time, and produced sub-goal work. Bloody bullshit.
My final rant on Fred is his self-righteous hypocrisy about hentai. He stated shortly after megatokyo began that if it ever degraded to the point where fanart hentai was produced, he would stop making the comic. Guess what? It happened. Google it, it's not hard to find. In fact, if you google it, you might find the main reason I'm mad about this "promise". Fred drew megatokyo hentai before he even started the comic. Half of his female characters and some not seen in megatokyo were drawn nude under Fred's pen name, Blurri. It just pisses me off when hypocrites like Fred degrade other people for doing the exact same thing he did in order to learn how to draw. When confronted about this, Fred said he removed the website from the internet because he was ashamed at the quality of the pictures. I call bullshit on this, and I have my own opinion as to why they were removed, but as much as I'd like to say them, there is no hard evidence to support them, so I'll end my Fred-bashing here.
Next up: Neurotically Yours. Ohh, I can feel Aria giving me the stink-eye already.
Seriously though, Jonathan Mathers has completely changed his comedy style to attract pubescent teenagers and fat creepy perverts to boost his viewcount. Ok, so I fall into one of those categories, but I'm not stupid enough to fall for it. Take a look for yourself, select 3 random Neurotically Yours cartoons made in the past few months with Germaine in them and try to tell me she's not:
a) Half-naked if not fully naked.
b) Being molested by a phallic object/lifeform
c) MOLESTING a phallic object/lifeform
d) Getting covered in sperm/sperm substitute/suspiciously sperm-like liquid.
Seriously, Amplified Bible/Paperback Bust pushed the limit between being sexually humorous and blatantly trying to lure people into watching for nudity, which is never going to happen (except in HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE fan made flash-animations with HILARIOUS voices.).
I miss the days of Amityville Toaster and Kavorkian Scarf. Those were the dark humor cartoons that got me into the series in the first place. Now it seems to be declining to black vs white jokes (Seriously, the hatta is getting annoying, all he's missing is watermelon and KFC, damn.), rants that seem more and more repetitive, and Tech support cartoons.
... Ok, I LIKE the tech support ones, but they're getting played to death.
alright, this post is probably tl;dr for most people, if not all, so I'm gonna shut up and go back to lurking and cursing at internet cartoonists.
