I just got my piercing five days ago, and the swelling is all gone. I was wondering if it would be okay to change out of the size I have now and get a smaller one, but I don't know how to figure out what my size is.

And is it okay to use blackline seamless/bar closure rings? I know not many people use them, and I'm wondering whyyy.

Also, what stores do you buy your body jewlery at? And if it's online what sites?

5 days?! Wow.

I know people heal at different times but I would atleast wait a week or two. sweatdrop

5 days is a wee bit too soon, don't you think?
I'd give it at LEAST 2-3 weeks before you went changing jewelry.
The actual jewelry stuff I'm not too sure about for lip rings.

Also, maybe talk to your piercer to figure out the size you were pierced with?
If you get too small a size, the piercing is way more likely to migrate. ]:

What do you mean by migrate? Sorry, I know nothing really.

And I guess I'm waiting a while 'til I get a new lip ring. But I'm looking for a job and I might be called in for some interviews soon. Do you think it would be too bad to leave a retainer in for like, an hour and then put the ring back in?

Five days is WAY too soon. Just because the swelling is gone (mine went away the next day), doesn't mean it's healed. Even for the retainer. You may be able to take it out, but there's no guaruntee that it will be okay to put back in.

Plus, most retainers are mainly plasticish (correct me if I'm wrong) and, therefore, poreish. Which means that they will take in the healing juices (sorry, couldn't think of a good word for it).

Also, changing jewelry always has a higher chance of infection (from not cleaning properly, ect...). Add in the fact that it's not completely healed, you may just be looking for an infection.

I would wait at least 2 more weeks. Or talk to your piercer.

And migrate means it moves. So it isn't in the original spot it was before.

Well my dad and I called the piercers and they told me to wait one more week, so that's what I'm doing. By the time I get my retainer, It'll be two weeks. Though if it's going to still make my piercing "migrate" if I put in a retainer, then I'd rather wait longer.
The only problem is, I'm trying to get a job at a restaurant and I might have a job before then.
What are the chances of it migrating by the end of this week? That's the last thing I want to happen. What causes it to do that?

Migration happens over a period of time. It's usually caused by gravity/ too heavy jewelry, infection, irratation, etc. Not fun things. If you take care of the piercing it should be fine. 3nodding

When you get the retainer, clean it *REALLY* well, and the piercing, too. Pop it in, clean the other jewelry and store it, then run off to your interview! When you get back, clean everything again and put the original jewelry back in.

Reading up on this stuff would help you a lot. http://wiki.bmezine.com/index.php/Main_Page
