We are born as animals and in the daylight hours we stalk as animals. Because we hold animal hearts, we are subject to our darker sides. We live for the primal. For the wild fulfillment of our desires.
Our animal half rules the human. Squelches it. We take our pleasures when and where we find them and aren't bothered by things such as conscience and morals.
However, we are fiercely loyal to ourselves, our kind. Throughout the centuries, we have been hunted by the Arcadian Sentinels and others who have no tolerance or understanding of our laws.
Our soldiers and protectors are called the Slayers. Woe to any who cross their paths for we tolerate no spies, no betrayal. Disloyalty is punished by the strictest of means. He has a wicked sense of humor and as both a panther and man is an extremely laid back, but lethal creature. He has no desire to mate since he has seen the horror that has become one of his litter mates. Instead, he runs his popular Goth club, Dante's Inferno where he follows his own set of rules. Be warned, this isn't Sanctuary and Dante will kill anyone who threatens his people. He has his own creed and code of behavior, Dark-Hunters, Were-Hunters and gods be damned. He holds no fear of anything except a female panther on the prowl for a mate. That alone will send him fleeing. He values money, expensive cars and fast women--not necessarily in that order. Romeo Born: AD 1116 Birthplace: Venice Patria: Panthiras Favorite Time Period: Modern Favorite Food: Honey served on a woman's stomach Motto: The early bird may catch the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese. The older brother of Dante Pontis, Romeo is one of the most vicious of the panther pack. He has a morbid sense of humor and lives for the thrill of the kill. His greatest pleasure in life is tormenting his younger brothers, especially Dante. Quick and lethal, he is a strati to be reckoned with. Much like Zarek, he's not prejudiced at all--he hates everyone equally. As you can imagine, he's not fond of his name and his brothers are merciless with Shakespeare quotes. Romeo is found in Dante's Inferno most often as a bouncer, but he will double as a DJ from time to time.

The eldest of six, Vane has spent his entire life watching over his younger siblings-- especially his sister Anya and his brother Fang. He would kill or die to protect his family from the Arcadians who stalk them. The Arcadians proclaimed him a Slayer on his twenty-fifth birthday and they have pursued him ever since. The bounty on his head is staggering. A vicious Slayer, he is extremely territorial and is merciless to any who dare tread on his turf-- be they Katagaria or Arcadian. His powers are legendary and few Sentinels dare challenge him. Those who have, paid with their lives. Only Anya has ever seen his tender side. To the rest of the world, he is hard-edged and single-minded. He does whatever he must to secure his patria. To challenge him is to challenge death itself. His story is told in Night Play. His mother once termed him Evil Incarnate. He is the quintessential Slayer who lives to stalk his prey. Alienated from all of his family and filos, except for Vane, he walks the world alone. He is the true lone wolf. A drifter, a rogue, and the worst sort of scoundrel. Lysander Born: 6523 BC Birthplace: Athens, Greece Patria: Tigarian Favorite Time Period: Modern Favorite Song to Slay by: Stone Cold, Rainbow Motto: You've only got friends until you look the other way. Lysander's entire family was executed by the Arcadians. He alone survived. Vowing vengeance on the ones responsible, he has sought the Arcadian butchers throughout history. And he won't stop until he has claimed them all. Pronounced a Slayer the moment he entered puberty, he has a death warrant on his life that is equal to Vane's, and in some centuries even more. Because of his relentless pursuit of the Arcadians, the Katagaria have offered rewards for his hide in hopes of buying a truce from their enemies. He keeps to himself and trusts no one except the Dark-Hunter Acheron. Acheron may not like what Lysander does, but he understands the Slayer's motivation. Lysander is lethal and quick. Impossible to pin down, he refuses to let anyone close to him. He closed his heart to the world a long time ago. His story will be told in an upcoming book that is currently untitled.

Jasyn is much like Acheron in that he is more phantom than real. No one knows for sure when or where he will strike. He is a hero to the Katagaria and the devil to the Arcadians. He calls no place home and no one friend. The only person he ever trusted tried once to hand him over to the Arcadians. It is rumored he ate that friend. He walks like a shadow, enshrouded by mist. Should you ever encounter him, run as if he were Freddy Krueger (and preferably not in his direction). Only the bravest of the Sentinels have faced him and Arion has vowed to see him dead. The two of them play a deadly game of hopscotch and one-upmanship. Sooner or later, one of them is bound to kill the other. His story will be told in an upcoming book that is currently untitled. Ax Born: 55 BC Birthplace: Gaul Patria: Tigarian Favorite Time Period: Modern Favorite Song to Slay by: Shine, Collective Soul Motto: Life often ends in the blink of an eye, so if you're around me, don't blink. One of the few Katagaria Slayers who travels with a friend, Ax is often found in the company of Paris. Nothing is known about this particular Slayer, except that he possesses the ability to be in more than one place at a time. He has multiple names and changes them often no doubt to throw the Sentinels off. The three most common names he's known by are Trey, Trion and Ax. He is cold-blooded and ruthless when confronted and is known to kill without remorse or hesitation. Be wary of this one.

The last surviving member of his filos, Ilarion was captured by humans when he was barely eight years old. He lived in captivity for four years where he was brutally tortured and cruelly displayed. He finally escaped, but not before his throat was damaged so badly by the humans that he can no longer speak. Alone, he learned to hide where no one could find or track him. He trusts no one and refuses to let anyone near him. Antisocial to the extreme, he only interacts with women when his passionate appetite requires it. His powers are equal to, if not greater than any Kattalakis. He's on a ruthless vengeance quest against all Arcadians and humans, and will not rest until death takes him. Paris Born: 3162 BC Birthplace: Athens Patria: Litarian (Lion) Favorite Time Period: Modern Favorite Song to Slay by: Eye of the Tiger, Survivor Motto: If you hear me coming, it's too late to pray. One of the few Katagaria Slayers who travels with a friend, Paris is often found in the company of Ax/Trey/Trion. He travels in human form, usually on a custom-built Harley. His one known weakness is full-bodied brunettes and he is always lured by one. Very little is known about him, other than the fact that he has left behind a long line of dead Sentinels and broken hearts. When cornered, he doesn't play with his opponent, but gets right down to massacre. Taron Born: AD 10 Birthplace: Gaul Patria: Lykos Favorite Time Period: Medieval Favorite Song to Slay by: Stand and Deliver. Adam Ant Motto: Time is short and so's my patience. Taron is the leader of his patria and the great-grandson of the first Lykos Katagaria. Proclaimed a Slayer when he turned twenty-eight, he has spent his adulthood thwarting the Sentinels after him. He is fiercely protective of his patria and filos, and is particularly brutal when crossed. He is still searching for his sister and two brothers who were lost during an attack. It is believed they were taken by the Arcadians and made into slaves. Taron won't rest until he finds them and restores them to the filos where they were born. Until that day comes, he has vowed to lay waste to every Arcadian he can find.

A warlord of great powers, Darion is the cousin to Damos and his greatest enemy. They have a blood feud that stems from the very beginning of their creation. Darion is the leader of his patria and is rumored to be the Slayer behind the attack that killed Damos's parents. Should they ever cross paths, there is little doubt that either one of them will survive. Wren Born: ? Birthplace: ? Patria: Tigarian Favorite Time Period: Modern Favorite Song to Slay by: Eye of the Tiger, Survivor Motto:"The tiger lies low not from fear, but for aim." A true Katagaria, Wren is a hybrid mix of a Snow Leopard mother and a White Tiger father. As a result, he can take either form at will. He was an abomination that should never have been allowed to be brought into the world. When his parents began to suspect his powers, his father tried to kill him. No one is quite sure what happened to either of his parents after that. Because of their brutality and extreme alpha natures, both the White Tiger and Snow Leopard branches of the Katagaria are all but extinct. Many believe Wren is the last of his kind on either side. Half-dead, he was taken to Sanctuary when he was barely more than a cub. The bears took pity on him, but with every passing year as he grows older, they are becoming more and more aware of his powers and strength. He is currently only forty-five which in our years makes him around the human age of twenty-two. A complete loner, he is carefully watched by all the Peltiers who fear what he might be capable of. Even Wren is afraid of himself and of ever discovering the true ferocity that lays within his beast's heart. For this reason, he has vowed to never mate and to stay far away from everyone.

Fury Born: AD 1463 Birthplace: Essex, England Patria: Lykos Favorite Time Period: Modern Favorite Song to Slay by: Back in Black, AC/DC Motto: Forget the hocus pocus crap. Can you outrun a wolf? Born one of six, Fury spent his early years with his brother Dare and sister Star under the care and love of their Arcadian mother. All of the pack thought he would be the rare Aristos (one of the most powerful of the Sentinels). Unfortunately, when he hit puberty, his animal genes took over and he became Katagaria. Horrified, his mother brutally attacked and thought that she killed him. Fury barely survived. Once he was able to protect himself, he sought out his father's Katagaria pack where he quickly learned that it wouldn't be in his best interest to let anyone know who or what he was. Because of his mixed birth and the fact that no one trained him to use his magic powers, he relies on his animal strength. When it comes to fighting, there are few better. Now he is the leader of the pack that used to shelter Vane and Fang. He makes his first appearance in Night Play and his story will be told in an upcoming book that is currently untitled.
